Anthony Rothschild nodded, agreeing with the conclusion they had reached within the Rothschild family discussions.
"Well, let’s watch quietly as Donnie and his people struggle to handle this situation. I am curious to see what thods Donnie will employ to erase the impact of the ’Wall Street Journal’ report."
Sigmund Warburg also nodded, a hint of a complacent smile on his face. He was very pleased with this arrangent, as it practically blocked all possible responses Donnie could have.
While the two were toasting each other with drinks, the radio broadcasted a speech by Herbert Hoover.
"Ha!" Anthony Rothschild sneered disdainfully, and then said, "Let’s see what this puppet of Donnie Block has to say!"
"Hmm!"
Then...
The two listened to Herbert Hoover’s speech.
Afterwards, the smug smiles disappeared from their faces.
They clearly understood what Herbert Hoover’s speech signified—it ant that the expected period when the Republican and Democratic candidates would start attacking each other had arrived earlier than anticipated.
Moreover, Herbert Hoover had used the already hot topic about whether to repeal Prohibition as his news angle.
Not only that, Herbert Hoover also included the Puritans in his speech.
"Damn Donnie Block!"
Anthony Rothschild threw down his wine glass and shouted angrily.
It was foreseeable that once this speech ended, the entire United States’ attention would focus on the wet and dry debate over the Prohibition, especially since Herbert Hoover had placed this heavy burden on Al Smith’s shoulders.
There was no need to ask Sigmund Warburg; Anthony Rothschild already knew that there were only two paths available to them now.
One was to collaborate with Al Smith in uniting all Democratic dia newspapers to imdiately counter Herbert Hoover’s speech. However, if they did this, it would an they would no longer have the energy to promote the ’Wall Street Journal’ report, and hence the report would not stir any waves.
In such circumstances, the greedy investors on Wall Street would realize that Deep Sea Bank’s public listing was unstoppable.
At that ti, amidst the crazy rush of these investors, Deep Sea Bank’s stock price during its listing would reach unimaginable heights.
But if they do not cooperate with Al Smith, then under Herbert Hoover’s wave of attacks, Al Smith might not even make it to the first election before his defeat is sealed.
It’s either choosing to continue attacking Deep Sea Bank’s monopoly behavior or supporting Al Smith to start a counterattack.
There was no third path for them to choose.
One might even say, they did not even have a second path to take.
If they could have their supported Al Smith beco the President of the United States, it would bring trendous benefits to the Rothschild family.
The key factor was the uncertainty of this matter.
If Al Smith failed to be elected President, then all their current efforts would be in vain.
But did they have a choice?
Even if they wanted to continue attacking Deep Sea Bank’s monopoly, the Democratic-controlled dia would not allow them to do so. More importantly, if they were still thinking of their own interests at that ti, even the Democratic Party in the United States would abandon them as allies.
With a simple retaliation, Donnie instantly shattered the plans Anthony Rothschild and Sigmund Warburg were so proud of.
This was what angered Anthony Rothschild the most.
"Sir, now is not the ti to be angry, we must have a new counter-strategy!"
Sigmund Warburg was also very angry, not because Donnie had resolved their attack, but because Donnie had done so easily.
However, Sigmund Warburg had this one advantage—he knew that being angry would not solve the problem.
"What ideas do you have?" Anthony Rothschild asked Sigmund Warburg in a deep voice.
Sigmund Warburg said, "Since Donnie has initiated the wet and dry debate, it has actually given us the opportunity to break apart his coalition!"
"How so?" Anthony Rothschild imdiately asked.
Sigmund Warburg explained, "Sir, are you familiar with the AAPA?"
Upon hearing the na, Anthony Rothschild’s eyes lit up suddenly, "How could I have forgotten about this? Pierre DuPont is now the supre commander of the AAPA association!"
The AAPA, founded in 1918 by mariti lawyer Stayton, initially began as an anti-fanatic minority association, but later focused on repealing Prohibition.
In simple terms, the AAPA is one of the most important ’wet factions’ in Arica. After developnt, the APPA has already beco one of Arica’s important associations, with three current U.S. National Congress mbers, Edward Hanix, heir of the Standard Oil Company, and banker Grayson Mallett among its mbers.
These people are not the focus; the important point is that Pierre DuPont is also an important mber of the AAPA. Last year, Pierre DuPont was even elected by the association as the AAPA association commander.
"Just because of this matter, would Pierre DuPont stand on our side?"
Anthony Rothschild asked sowhat uncertainly.
Sigmund Warburg said, "Sir, the reason Pierre DuPont beca the AAPA association commander is to rely on the power of the AAPA, like his ancestors, to beco a National Congress mber in the United States, correct?
If we can organize a eting between Al Smith, us, and the DuPont family, if we unite our powers, I think helping Pierre DuPont enter Congress as a National Congress mber should not be too difficult, right?"
