Chapter 1065: 364. Helen’s Performance 2
But now Donnie and Helen suddenly raised the issue that radium products pose a huge threat to human health, and what makes Edwards even more troubled is that Donnie’s analysis has no scientific basis whatsoever.
Under such circumstances, Helen is going to campaign in various cities in New Jersey about the dangers of radium products.
As a qualified politician, Edwards knows all too well what kind of reaction such a situation will provoke.
“Governor, you should know that Donnie never speaks without serious intent on such major issues!” Helen said gravely.
“Of course I know that!” Edwards replied, “But I believe in Mr. Block, though it doesn’t an the entire New Jersey populace will. People have a rebellious psychology, and I also believe the businesses behind these radium products will certainly make an issue of this.
I’ve even heard that so mbers of the Democratic Party are gathering these people together!”
Helen said, “That’s their business, we just need to focus on our own agenda!”
Though Helen spoke calmly, Edwards also understood that Helen had already made up her mind about this issue, and no one could change it.
Forget it, I’m stepping down next year anyway, so let others worry about these matters!
Ultimately, Edwards chose his own future, leaving the opposing voices to Donnie and Helen to address!
“Alright, I’ll try my best to cooperate with your speeches, Mrs. Block!”
“Thank you, Governor!” Helen said politely.
Just after the phone conversation, Helen continued dealing with her own affairs.
In the evening, Helen called Donnie and first told him about the situation in Atlantic City: “Currently, things are relatively stable in Atlantic City, but a few people with a history of fractures are again experiencing unbearable pain after stopping the Radium Thorium water.”
Donnie pondered for a mont and imdiately said, “Write down the nas of all these people and give them to Chris, ask him to send these individuals to Stanford University’s research lab!”
Now these people still have energy to oppose this matter, indicating their radiation damage isn’t serious yet. But Donnie believes there must be internal issues in their bodies, making these people far more useful for the research lab than simply studying radium products!
“Wouldn’t this cause so panic?” Helen worried.
The sudden disappearance of these individuals will definitely alert the people of Atlantic City.
Donnie spoke indifferently, “As long as the final results benefit us, then don’t worry about short-term panic!”
At this point, Donnie was determined to study the harm caused by radium radiation.
“Alright, I’ll talk to Chris about this!”
After comparing the situation, Helen realized that if their condition is indeed helpful to the research lab, it would be more beneficial for their later control in Atlantic City!
After discussing the matter in Atlantic City, Helen also told Donnie about her plan to expand her speeches across the whole of New Jersey after completing the last one in Atlantic City.
Donnie knew it was impossible to persuade Helen otherwise on this, so after a mont of silence, he said, “I don’t oppose you doing this, but rember one thing, you must listen to your staff’s arrangents and avoid contact with any radium products or individuals who have interacted with radium products!”
Helen nodded, “Yes, rest assured on that point!”
.
The next day, Helen began her final speech at the entrance of the Surf Hotel, during which she inford people that Stanford University, California Institute of Technology, and MIT have begun researching the harmfulness of radium products, and repeatedly emphasized that they wouldn’t undertake such actions without thorough investigation.
Of course, there was also a Q&A session!
“Mrs. Block, if the final research proves your suspicions wrong, will you feel guilty about the actions that have hard the freedom of Atlantic City citizens?”
A mber of the crowd voiced their question.
This inquiry received quite a bit of agreent, as they were willing to comply with Atlantic City’s ban on radium products, not because they believed in the harm, but simply because they were accustod to obeying Donnie’s directives in Atlantic City.
“Everyone’s freedom is a sacred and inviolable right, and in reality, Atlantic City has never banned anyone from exercising their right to freedom!” Helen responded with official talking points: “If soone thinks such actions have hard their freedom, then they can leave Atlantic City. I guarantee that after this matter ends, they will still be the most honored guests of Atlantic City!”
“Mrs. Block, you still haven’t directly answered my question!”
Helen looked at the person, and Ariel Manning imdiately reached out to the security detail arranged by Chris to rember the person’s appearance, and to thoroughly investigate them after the speech.
“Then I can tell you, if this issue is our analytical error, I will personally resign from the City Hall council position and apologize to each resident of Atlantic City personally!”
Ariel Manning suddenly looked at Helen, surprised that Helen would answer the question in such a way.
