Chapter 44: Wen Qiannian
Hearing Chen Nian’s words, Gym Leader Jiang smiled faintly.
“As expected of a sharp young man. Shuying’s intelligence is far behind yours.”
“Indeed, there are things I haven’t let her know.”
“But the truth behind this isn’t sothing I can easily share with you.”

“If that person is willing to tell you everything, you’ll learn the truth behind this matter.”

As he spoke, Jiang Zhiwei opened the study door.
Chen Nian stood and followed him out.
They exited through the villa’s back door, walking along a dimly lit path until they arrived before an elegantly secluded cottage.
Stopping at the entrance, Jiang Zhiwei called out respectfully:
“Miss Wen, I’ve brought Mr. Chen Nian.”
The cottage door slowly opened, revealing a graceful woman dressed in pale cyan traditional robes.
*Huh? Isn’t she… the one who owns Suicune? That high-ranking figure from the Pokémon League?*
Chen Nian studied her with curiosity.
Why is she here at the Jiang family’s ho?

The woman before him was indeed Suicune’s trainer—the one revered by the Pokémon League as Miss Wen.
Her lips curved slightly as she regarded Chen Nian.
“Mr. Chen Nian, if you don’t mind, you may call Wen Qiannian.”
“I imagine you must have many questions. Please, co in and sit for a while. I’ll take my ti answering them for you…”
Jiang Zhiwei glanced at Miss Wen, then said:
“Miss Wen, I’ll take my leave now. Chen Nian, co find again after your conversation.”

Once the Gym Leader had left, Chen Nian followed Wen Qiannian into the cottage.
Sitting at the table, she poured him a cup of tea.
“Truthfully, it was my idea to invite you here so abruptly.”
“Gym Leader Jiang was rely acting on my instructions.”
“Can you guess why I asked you here, Mr. Chen Nian?”

After serving the tea, she took a seat across from him.
A red string adorned her fair wrist, tied with a tiny bell. Glancing at it, Chen Nian smiled faintly.
“I couldn’t have guessed earlier, but now, I have so ideas.”
“As expected of the Pokémon League, your intelligence-gathering is truly extraordinary.”*
“Miss Wen Qiannian invited here because you’ve confird that I possess… sothing fearso, haven’t you?”

Hearing his response, she chuckled softly.
“Mr. Chen Nian, you’re only sixteen, yet you have the courage to venture into forbidden zones alone. That’s truly admirable.”
“Back in that restricted area, I sensed sothing was off.”
*”That powerful Pokémon, the one that fought three others single-handedly—its combat style was too thodical. So I suspected it might have a trainer.”*
“I didn’t intervene imdiately because I was observing the situation.”
“And that’s when I noticed you, Mr. Chen Nian.”
“Through the League’s intelligence, I’ve learned so basic details about you.”
“Based on that, I ford a few theories.”
“That strange black Pokémon… is likely yours, isn’t it?”
“And now, my suspicions have been confird.”

Though Wen Qiannian didn’t elaborate, Chen Nian could infer the rest.
The Pokémon League was, after all, the world’s most powerful organization. Investigating soone’s movents would inevitably yield clues.
His trip into the forbidden zone, his return during the chaos, his sudden capture of a Dragonite, all of it hinted that he was anything but ordinary.
A smart person could easily deduce sothing from his trail.
After all, he hadn’t bothered hiding himself in the restricted area.
So now, hearing Wen Qiannian’s words, Chen Nian replied calmly:
“You guessed correctly, Miss Wen.”
“Necrozma is indeed my Pokémon.”
“So then, why did you specifically invite here?”
“Are you planning to recruit into the Pokémon League?”

Wen Qiannian smiled.
*”I did consider it before. But judging by how you’ve kept yourself hidden, you seem like a man who prefers a low-profile life, one far from the spotlight.”
“So I doubt you’d agree to join the League and beco one of its top trainers…”
