The mont I slipped beneath the surface, the whole world changed.
The noise of splashing and chatter vanished, replaced by the muffled, dreamlike silence of the underwater world.
Sunlight poured in from the ceiling windows, breaking into shimring beams that danced and swayed in the water. And right there, at the center of it all… was the view.
Countless pairs of long, toned legs kicked rhythmically around , slender shapes glowing with that faint, milky translucence you only get underwater. The water clung to smooth skin, catching the light and turning it into sothing almost ethereal.
Small, pale feet flexed and pointed with each kick, sending little whirlpools spiraling away. The ripples rged, weaving together into sothing hypnotic—youthful energy and soft grace colliding in a way that was… dangerously distracting.
From my angle, I could see exactly how high the legs lifted in their treading water practice. And how deep they—
…Alright. Focus, Ginjo.
But the sunlight filtering through the water blurred their outlines, giving each silhouette a hazy, mysterious edge… and every instinct in wanted to push through that "fog" and see more clearly.
It was so quiet down here that I could almost pretend ti had stopped. My pulse, however, hadn't—it was pounding in my ears like a war drum.
Bubbles! Damn, I'd been staring too long. My lungs were screaming, and small bubbles leaked from the corner of my mouth.
"—!" I kicked hard, breaking the surface in one smooth rise and grabbing the pool's edge.
Hah… hah… hah…
Cool air rushed into my lungs. My chest heaved, each breath dragging in life-saving oxygen.
"Ginjo-san!" Lisa-senpai's voice cut in, full of concern. She swam toward , the sunlight glittering on the droplets clinging to her hair and cheeks. "Are you okay?"
"I… I'm fine…" I said between gulps of air. "Just… stayed under too long. Need a sec."
She hovered nearby until my breathing evened out. "Don't push yourself. Do you want to go ashore and rest?"
"It's alright. I'll just… stay here a bit." I forced a reassuring smile.
Her expression softened. "So, based on your underwater observations, did you notice any issues?"
I shook my head. "Honestly, there were no major problems. They've got the technique down, and underwater their form looks pretty solid."
"That's great." Lisa-senpai's smile lit up her face, droplets running down her fair cheeks. In that light, she looked… yeah, dangerously pretty.
"Almost ti," I said after a glance at the clock. "Let's get them out before they're exhausted."
She nodded, blew her whistle, and the girls swam to the edge in waves.
The break was chaos in the best way. Towels flying, chatter bouncing off the walls, a few groans of tired muscles.
"Oh, my legs are cramping."
"I'm fine! Ginjo-kun's tips actually worked. I feel like I can stand in water now!"
I was wiping my face when Lisa-senpai held out a bottle. "Here, drink."
"Thanks." I downed nearly half in one go. I'd been talking and demonstrating so much my throat felt like sandpaper.
"What's next for training?" she asked.
"Nothing too heavy. We hit the treading water goal. If we push too hard now, it could backfire."
I kept the rest to myself: naly that the "club morale" here was… fragile. Push the wrong way, and I'd be watching this team dissolve—and that would be a tragedy for reasons that went beyond sportsmanship.
"Hmm… Ginjo-san really does think like a coach," she said with that mysterious smile of hers.
"Hold on, you're up to sothing." I narrowed my eyes.
"Hahaha, you caught ." Her laugh was low and mischievous. "Actually, I was thinking… since your training is so effective, why not co help the club more often?"
"Uh… I'll think about it…" My body might literally overheat if I saw this every week.
She didn't even wait for my reply before turning to the team.
"Everyone! Next ti, should we invite Ginjo-san to coach again?"
The response was instant.
"Yes—!"
"That'd be amazing!"
"Ginjo-kun, you're the best!"
Lisa-senpai bead and looked back at with triumph. "See? It's not just asking."
"Blatant coercion," I muttered.
In the end, I caved in, "Fine. I'll try to co on weekends."
She lit up like a kid on Christmas. "Ginjo-san agreed!"
The girls cheered like I'd just won them a championship. High-fives, laughter, even a couple of "Saikou!" shouts.
"To celebrate, lunch is on ~"
The energy doubled. "President's treating us!"
Rich lady instincts. Get happy, buy the whole club food.
We ended up at the sa burger place as last ti, the team cramd into a long table that practically took up the whole restaurant. The noise level was enough to make the staff sigh, but their smiles never faded.
Lisa-senpai and I sat at the far end, talking quietly while the chaos raged down the line.
"Look, Ginjo-kun and Shiraishi-senpai are such a good match~" soone called out suddenly.
The laughter rolled over us. I glanced at her.
She just smiled, cheeks faintly red, not denying a thing.
…And sohow, that felt more dangerous than anything I'd seen underwater.
