The scene within the temple was no more the simple earthen house it had once been; a major transformation had occurred inside!
An endless, starlit space of darkness and silence appeared before everyone’s eyes, enveloping all things in an unsettling, earnest atmosphere.
In the very center of the temple, several gigantic tables were set up, and the nearly wind-eroded stone statues were placed in the middlemost position.
Humans who entered this space seed as insignificant as ants compared to the imnse stone statues!
Around the stone statue, another statue was added: a mighty dragon with clearly defined scales, lifelike, dreamlike, and fantastical.
Even so, the crowd faintly heard the sounds of a dragon’s roar and mocking laughter.
Additionally, a well statue was situated on another table positioned below.
And... a marble sphere!
For so reason, this sphere lay directly on the ground, as if it had no place of honor at all.
On both sides of these tables stood two colossal pillars, so tall that one couldn’t see the sky above. At the top of the pillars, countless gleaming runes ford two golden, spectacular symbols.
Even the illiterate, standing here under the mystic power of the runes, could recognize these two characters—Heavenly Gate!
"What’s going on?"
Pan Hao swallowed nervously, his heartbeat accelerating as he took in the splendor of the scene, feeling sowhat overwheld.
The grandeur was so imnse it left his mind struggling to comprehend.
Slightly confused, he turned and stepped out of the temple, poking his head out to discover that everything outside continued as usual, with people still beating drums and gongs, only the scene inside the temple had changed.
"What’s this all about? Suddenly it changes like this without discussing it with the bros, almost thought Heavenly Gate was exposed..."
"Wait... None of you are to enter for the mont!" Pan Hao reacted swiftly when he saw waves of villagers rushing forward, he bellowed out loud, veins throbbing on his forehead.
With Pan Hao’s loud shout, the other team mbers of the pioneering group quickly reacted, using their bodies to block the temple gate, preventing the frenzied villagers from rushing in.
"Great Witch, why can’t people enter the temple yet?" soone complained loudly, "We want to see how the Water Ghost King is being offered sacrifice."
"Yeah, yeah, why can’t people pay tribute during the sacrificial rites?"
The crowd grew more restless; this was a deeply rooted customary sacrifice handed down from generation to generation, as solid as their faith.
"I want to make a wish to our naless forefather for getting married soon!"
"I too want to make a wish that my farm yields two thousand catties per mu so I can feed my whole family."
"What’s there to see? You think you can just walk in whenever you like? Quiet down and listen to !" Pan Hao glared, raising his voice.
With his authoritative presence over the past days, he montarily quelled the crowd.
"Just honestly work in town, and you’ll get married; are they going to let you starve? Whishing all day long – do you think the naless forefather and the ulcerous great mother are your parents, that they’ll just grant your wishes as you please?"
"You think wives will just fall from the sky? To get a wife, soone needs to make the match."
The villagers burst into laughter.
But no matter what, barring people from the temple gate seed sowhat improper. Sacrificing to local deities was supposed to involve every villager, old or young. The local deities would manifest their Divine Power and "bless" the villagers.
Not participating in person was akin to forfeiting the Deity’s blessing, which, in the eyes of the people, spelled misfortune.
But the "Heavenly Gate" organization currently should not be exposed; the hubbub inside was making old Pan sowhat uneasy.
The gaggle of onlooking villagers, a wash of voices, if so were to leak the news, it might attract a malicious onslaught from the outside world, and they could not endure the consequences!
"Great Witch, why can’t a single person enter the sacrificial ritual? That’s... it’s not in accordance with the rites."
The Scholar Ding Zhijing thought of sothing, whispering, "Could it be... sothing’s gone wrong? Give us so insight, so people can rest assured."
"Yeah," Ding’s father-in-law Huang Youcai added, "If the naless forefather does not manifest Divine Power, that’s one thing, but if the ulcerous great mother doesn’t manifest Divine Power, then those with ulterior motives will chatter behind our backs."
"If there’s really an issue, speak up now; we can also help think of a solution."
"Please wait a mont."
Pan Hao went back inside the temple and consulted with his team mbers for a while.
The space inside the temple was indeed a vast, resplendent starry sky, and in the sky’s utmost limit, the golden words "Heavenly Gate" were written.
However, they discovered that the tablet of the ulcerous great mother had gone missing.
"Where did that old turtle go?"
After searching for quite so ti, they found the tablet of the ulcerous great mother on a tiny, almost inconspicuous table tucked away to the side.
On it were written three strange characters: "Lieutenant Turtle."
"My Lord... my Lord... ennobled... turtle! Gah!" The ulcerous great mother seed to have gained so benefit in this tablet, roaring in ecstasy.
But its intelligence was not very high, all complex sentences were replaced with "gah," leaving it unclear what it was actually saying.
Pan Hao glanced at it, feeling that the ulcerous great mother seed a bit more formidable: "This... it’s been ennobled..."
"Never mind, it’s fine as long as you’re here, quickly go outside and manifest so Divine Power to pacify the villagers. Don’t let them rush in; this place still needs to be kept a secret."
