"Bang bang bang!"
As the pig-headed creature drew closer, faint murmuring echoed through the deep and dim mine, while the searchlights above cast a ghastly white light. From the depths of the mine ca obscure glances. Two team mbers couldn’t withstand the pressure and, sowhat hastily, fired their guns.
The sound of "ding ding dang dang" filled the air; the bullets seed to hit an iron wall. They just disappeared without trace, seemingly inflicting no damage whatsoever.
"Bring out all your courage! Make all your resolutions!" Lou Ronggen, red-faced and shouting, his hair standing on end, yelled, "Take aim and shoot with all your determination!"
"I fucking wish I could."
Lou Ronggen then turned and roared at Wang Hao, "You kid, fire your gun, it’s coming! Don’t tell you can’t aim."
Wang Hao was just about to shoot when he found that the pig-headed creature struck by gunfire had suddenly stopped dead in its tracks.
It was as if ti had stopped for it, only the blood from the sharp kitchen knife dripping steadily to the ground.
Wang Hao took a deep breath, and as the sounds of gunshots continued, confusion began to rise in his heart: "Why has it stopped? Did the gunfire halt it? Or is it that we don’t et its conditions for killing?"
"What was the coughing sound from the floor above, and why did it lead to find that piece of paper?"
"This should be one of those ’Strange Objects,’ right? Why did ’Mistaken Illusion’ create a strange creature here?"
Countless questions swirled in his mind, not wanting to rashly miss this opportunity with the pig-headed creature, he steeled himself and took a step forward.
Now, although he was a Legendary Level expert, he had not brought any Strange Objects with him. Facing a strange creature at close range without them made it all too easy to be killed.
"Click click click!"
The trigger pulled a few tis without firing a shot.
"Out of bullets."
"Run!" soone shouted, and what followed was a flurry of running footsteps.
The two unreliable teammates sure were quick on their feet. They had actually run away.
The silence around was terrifying.
The pig-headed creature still stood motionless in the sa spot, only the rising and falling of its chest and the slight trembling of its pig bristles indicated that it was indeed still alive. It remained stationary for so unknown reason.
It was then that Wang Hao began to feel a bit nervous.
His breathing grew heavy as he carefully observed the pig-headed creature wielding a butcher’s knife.
"Did ’Mistaken Illusion’ bring this monster into existence to stop human beings from collecting the Crystal Stones? But why was it immobilized by the bullets? Does ’Paradise’ really possess a thod to counter ’Mistaken Illusion’?"
"What is this...?"
Wang Hao’s eyes suddenly focused sharply, noticing a filthy object fastened to the belt of the pig-headed creature.
He reached out to take it but found the grubby object was tied with a rope, making it impossible to remove.
In the dim light, he cast a hasty glance.
It was actually an old radio, with three buttons, much like the one described in "Sheep Intestine Tunnel"!
In an instant, the pig-headed creature seed to co back to its senses, its gaping maw lunging for his head to take a bite!
"Danger danger danger danger," resounded a chain of warnings.
It flashed fiercely on the screen for a mont.
Wang Hao found he couldn’t dodge in ti and used the "Playing Dead" ability to turn into a rock.
His left arm was viciously bitten, emitting a loud "crack."
"Did it bite off my arm?"
Upon realizing that it had bit into a rock, the pig-headed creature imdiately threw the rock-like Wang Hao aside and stopped attacking.
With a "thud," the heavy mass hit the ground; aside from the left arm, which was slightly damaged, the rest was intact.
"Just a minor injury, it shouldn’t be a problem for the ti being."
"This ’Playing Dead’ ability isn’t bad... allows to observe the outside world." Although this outside world was murky, like soone with severe myopia watching the world, it was still a remarkable ability for investigation. After all, without Strange Objects, it is difficult for humans to defeat strange creatures. Legendary Investigators just have a better ability to preserve their own lives compared to normal people.
Wang Hao noticed a "Injured" debuff pop up on the screen, probably from the wound on his left arm, but he wasn’t too concerned; he wouldn’t bleed in the state of ’Playing Dead.’
He cautiously sized up the suspicious pig-headed creature.
It was dressed in a raincoat-like black outer garnt that was now split due to its increased size. The radio tied to its belt was covered in dust and grease, looking rather old. Fortunately, the pig-headed creature’s belt was sturdy enough to withstand the test of ti and kept the radio intact until now.
This amazing discovery made Wang Hao even more certain that "Paradise" had a significant connection to the first clue, "Sheep Intestine Tunnel."
"So this pig-headed creature was the courier from ’Sheep Intestine Tunnel’... Why had a human turned into a pig-headed creature? Where had its backpack gone?"
"Did it drop the backpack outside the door, or did it open the backpack?"
The pig-headed creature wobbled on the spot for a while before making its way back down one step at a ti. Its figure in the vast mine seed rather forlorn; the once-human had turned into a strange creature and could never return to what it once was.
"So picking up the note left by ’Xiang Hao’ triggered the attack from ’Mistaken Illusion’?"
As he thought this, he heard another series of scattered footsteps.
Taking a glance, to his surprise, it was the fat man, Shi Dapeng, making his way back.
