"But where do these... flesh orbs co from?" Chen Xinyi asked, puzzled.
The other party explained, "Human souls are too fragile; influenced by its power, they occasionally create distorters. This flesh orb is one of the distorters."
"There are quite a number of distorters, and they automatically head to these dilapidated neighborhoods... they devour any organic matter."
"Our world is like this, with apparent order and inherent absurdity coexisting. Let’s hurry away; the sll of corpses will attract more distorters."
As Chen Xinyi left, she ca up with another idea — what if she turned these beings full of soul power into a source? Could she make a fortune?
The source of the distorters’ power is also the "Delusion."
Thinking of this, she involuntarily shivered.
"I must be crazy, always thinking about getting things for free!"
...
The sun set in the west, and the night arrived.
Once the moon rose, the night would beco even more dangerous...
Hence, the group returned to headquarters ahead of ti.
The headquarters, constructed like a Rubik’s cube and adorned with dark scales, always conveyed a mysterious and tranquil atmosphere.
People enjoyed dinner in the cafeteria and then began sorting out the day’s loot, planning the work that followed.
Especially in certain areas where new changes might have occurred, new "Rules" needed to be set — these tasks were arduous yet crucial.
Day by day, year by year, persisting and resisting...
Chen Xinyi did not need to participate in more work; returning to her small room, she breathed a sigh of relief.
With these days of exploration, she finally understood this world a bit.
Just a bit...
The Abnormal Foundation was not weak, with neither its organizational structure nor the high leaders’ resolve falling short of the Black-clothed Guard.
Yet, they ended up like this.
The enemy was overwhelmingly powerful, like despair itself.
According to the Abnormal Foundation’s divisions, the global security levels were divided into six parts.
Safe (protected areas), Barely safe (areas that remain uncontaminated as long as rules are followed), Neutral (dilapidated neighborhoods that the "Delusion" pays little attention to), Dangerous (areas almost out of control), Disaster (continents on the other side of the planet, where no living humans exist),
and the highest level... the Fallen Zones.
The Fallen Zones are divided into two parts.
The first is space, where the "Delusion" forbids any human space activity, let alone moon landing. Even spying on the moon with a telescope is regarded as a major taboo.
The governnt issued a notice forty years ago declaring that "the light emitted from the moon can cause genetic mutations."
"This is easy to understand if its entity might be above the space."
The second is underground, naly mine shafts deeper than a hundred ters, also considered Fallen Zones.
"Why is the underground also a forbidden zone?"
I don’t understand or know.
Thinking of this, Chen Xinyi closed her eyes, her soul entering the Ga Training Camp.
She reported her findings to her superiors.
...
"These days of investigation have been hard, and the foundation on the other side is indeed impressive. The strength is actually not bad," Lu Tianming smiled as he listened to her narration, "With such a narrative, their technological level might even be higher than ours which has been stagnant for 40 years, nearly on par."
"That could indeed be a possibility. They might be Space Relics that have lost their technology," Chen Xinyi said, "If the ’Delusion’ is truly sealed on the moon, their past strength must have been terrifying enough to seal a Demon God."
"That may not be entirely the case, perhaps with the help of so world-level Strange Object that ca at a great cost. Don’t sell yourself short," Lu Tianming recorded this information in the files and said after specially processing the data.
"By the way, in that world, has the reconstruction of Qingtian Hospital been implented? We’ve been quite pressed for ti on our side," Lu Tianming couldn’t help but rub his temples.
Because this matter was being personally supervised by the No.1 old man, the pressure was indeed great.
But they couldn’t exert much force on it!
"It’s being implented," Chen Xinyi giggled, "Right now, a rapid-construction field hospital is being built, specifically to treat animals. As for the expansion of services, it hasn’t shown much reaction, which is a good thing."
"Additionally, about the drilling of the well, it’s also being implented slowly. The Abnormal Foundation... is very cautious. After all, once discovered, it leads to a series of deaths."
"Alas, over there, it’s like an underground organization fighting a guerrilla war. Just thinking about this kind of world feels brutal. I’m not in a hurry though, it’s old man number one who is anxious," Lu laughed, "As long as there is a plan in place, even if it’s slow, there’s no harm. They have been living like this for decades, a few more days won’t make a difference."
"I’m just a bit curious, what kind of power does the ’Ga’ really intend to project over there? These past few days we’ve been discussing what exactly the ’Ga’ needs to do to quickly overco the opponent. Unless, the ’Ga’ overwhelmingly surpasses them..."
"I’m not too clear on that either," Chen Xinyi said, "The only possible intervention from their side could be through the owner of the scales... but the scales surely can’t be provided by the ’Ga,’ right?"
"It’s indeed unlikely. Let’s just wait and see," Lu sighed.
On Earth, the general sentint still leaned towards observing the excitent.
Freeloading off the power of ’Delusion’—what a delight!
Of course, people didn’t mind lending a little help.
It’s not about sympathy; it’s mostly about interest.
Both sides live in their own worlds, with no conflict of interest on the resource level.
Whether it’s the exchange of information, technological trade, or combating the formidable threat of ’Delusion,’ there are significant gains to look forward to.
"Another thing, they believe that the deep underground also belongs to the fallen areas, which seems very strange," Chen Xinyi said, "I haven’t yet uncovered their secrets."
"Knowing knowledge beyond your ability isn’t good," Lu Tianming shook his head, "That might be why they haven’t told you. After all, you’re still too inexperienced."
Suddenly belittled like this, Ms. Chen’s face imdiately crinkled into a frown.
Just then, the communicator hanging at Lu Tianming’s waist vibrated twice.
Looking at the ssage, a smile appeared on his face.
Not just Lu Tianming, the several researchers behind him also grinned broadly, utterly delighted.
"Today, more than fifty dical pigs were slaughtered, yielding over a thousand units of ’source’? Why does the number keep increasing? Isn’t it a bit exaggerated? Over a thousand in one day?"
"It’s not exaggerated! It’s because the number of patients is increasing; it’s amplifying its power output to make the dical pigs more capable."
"Also, isn’t the neighboring world renovating animal hospitals?"
"The convergence of mirror images makes its power output easier."
A thousand units a day, that is... too much!
Other countries combined don’t produce as much as this one hospital. How could these Black-clothed Guards not be grinning?
Moreover, due to the presence of Qingtian Hospital, it has once again elevated the political status of Great Xia Country. After all, what isn’t used can still be sold to gain so shares or similar assets.
It’s not like it can’t be used though; just synthesizing a single Elixir requires several hundred, so how could there be a surplus?
Yet often, trading brings greater benefits. Anyway, one must allow other organizations to sip so soup, thus binding all parties together through mutual interests.
Cooperative win-win is the developnt philosophy of the Great Xia Country.
Chen Xinyi listened to their nonsense about diseased pigs, chickens, ducks, and bears—all being ntioned, and the veins on her forehead involuntarily throbbed.
Even sothing like dical monkeys, dical apes?
Could dical apes produce more ’source’? All these fanciful operations made her skin crawl, reminding her of the terrifying sci-fi movie—’Rise of the Planet of the Apes’: under the influence of a biochemical virus, those all-encompassing apes took over Earth and established their own civilization, with humans becoming the minority.
Seeing her fearful thoughts, Lu Tianming chuckled, "Don’t worry too much; we are still very careful. In the Etheric Abyss, only humans have developed complex societies. At least in our region, that’s the case. What unknown areas are like, we can’t really manage."
"Creation is much much more difficult than destruction."
"’Delusion’ is unlikely to create real intelligent life;if it could, it would have already done so in the neighboring Parallel Worlds."
"Moreover, if the apes developed different intelligence, then they would have transford into humans."
Ms. Chen was montarily stunned, then understood the aning of the words of comrade number twelve.
In fact, the majority of human civilizations from Parallel Worlds have evolved from ’Terrifying Upright Apes,’ a certain special convergent evolution.
Often, humans don’t have reproductive isolation from one another, all possessing 46 chromosos, and similar genes.
Thus, humans from various Parallel Worlds might have a common ancestor.
If this train of thought is extended, so extrely chilling conclusions erge: humans could indeed potentially be immigrants!
Originally not belonging to this world!
According to the Abnormal Foundation, the ancestors of humanity were originally a star-crossing civilization that erroneously arrived in the Cosmic Domain, where Etheric Abyss is located. Unable to adapt to this environnt or defeat the most powerful Demon God, they had no choice but to broadcast their genes, allowing so species on the superficial layers of the Etheric Abyss to undergo convergent evolution, and then further spreading in a more generalized way.
This explains why even in so ’small worlds’ with limited areas, there are signs of humans.
Though humans are not a powerful species, they are ubiquitous; as long as the environnt isn’t absolutely dreadful, they can always find a way.
