Because he rembered the last thing the washed-up writer had said, "But, no one ever imagined that Heaven is simply..."
Heaven is simply what, was hard to guess, but it was probably not anything good.
"Let’s first assu that this washed-up writer is of a neutral nature; he might be controlled by sothing, so he could only offer so cryptic hints."
"As for channels two and three, they both provide limited information."
"As for the writing on the wall... it’s true and false intermingled, hard to discern."
Wang Hao was struck by a faint inspiration. It might be the conflict between personal interests and the collective good that led to these writings on the wall.
"Does this an that delivering this package will bring misfortune upon personally? Death? A sacrifice to the Evil God?"
He exhaled the stale air that was trapped in his chest and began tuning his radio.
Channel one was still repeating the sa sentence, "Sacrifice is inevitable (static)."
"Sacrifice is inevitable (a barely suppressed chuckle)."
Channel two... seed to have returned to normal.
The stodgy, serious voice said, "You have been standing still for a long ti; you might have seen sothing, heard sothing. But the destination lies ahead, toss your package outside the door, then turn and leave, retracing your steps. Your mission is complete."
Wang Hao asked, "What does Channel one an by ’sacrifice is inevitable’?"
The other party replied, "That’s just nonsense, the signals here are not good, sotis bizarre content gets through. Many strange and peculiar things are all to stop you from delivering this package."
Wang Hao probed further, "I found a corpse here, probably the colleague from Channel three. Why did he die here?"
There was a mont of silence from the other side before the answer ca, "You can regard it as the work of enemies, ant to disrupt operations. What you see, what you hear, it might all be so kind of ruse."
"The one you contacted, in fact, has successfully returned. And this corpse, it’s sothing they wanted you to see, to make you hesitate."
"Although I tell you this, you might not believe . I know you don’t trust , but I still hope you’ll complete the mission and maybe co back."
Wang Hao was not overly agitated and spoke in a low tone, "Outside this door lies the surface; why shouldn’t I return to the surface, instead of taking the sa way back? Where is this Underground base you speak of?"
The voice from the radio silenced for a mont, then said, "You don’t need to report what you see, what you hear. Because, what you see, may be different every ti."
He sighed softly, "There are so things, that are understood by all, that are understood but not conveyed."
"But why they still do this, there must be a deeper reason... I don’t know why it’s like this either. Even if I did know, I wouldn’t tell you any answers."
"Now all you need to do, is throw the package inside the door, then turn and leave."
"But what if I die like this colleague?" Wang Hao’s voice rose, "He’s dead right in front of ! And outside lies the sunlit surface! Why can’t I go directly back through the surface?"
"He didn’t die; he successfully returned. But he can’t converse with you directly – that’s the Rule!"
"And I’ve told you, you must not enter the door! Or you will die!"
"I’ve seen too many people like you, thinking they’re so clever... you should be able to feel that I’m the only person who can converse with you here, a normal human. Do you want to return the way you ca? You can’t look back, or you’ll encounter sothing even more terrifying."
"Complete your task, throw the package inside the door, then turn and leave—that’s the simplest way!"
The sunlight was just right outside the door, a gentle breeze blowing, birds soaring joyously in the sky...
Inside the door, the atmosphere was cold, the darkness like the Abyss from Hell.
