(Amaia)

(Eight months later)

I sit on the edge of the lake, staring into the calm water. The creatures of the lake crawl all over my swollen feet subrged in the coolness, glowing with their luminance. Rigel sits beside , holding my bloated belly, gently rubbing it. He has returned from Fudaria after visiting his family. He is also going through therapy sessions along with his mother and is slowly healing, a little step at a ti.

TJ has said the babies are due any day now.

Yes, there are three of them inside and no wonder I look like an overinflated balloon. Even walking is a laborious task these days. My mates have to carry or I need to use my wings.

Alnilam is visiting Istrale, managing affairs and establishing a proper structure to keep it running.

Min and Ali are continuing their training at Orion Academy while Saiph is being trained by his father to take over the throne. King Orion wishes to retire and hand over the reins of the state of Saiph.

We are not always together, all six of us but we always try to find ti to connect.

"You are deep in thought," Rigel says softly. He is calr than before, not only with but also with others. Gentle, learning the ways of the world and everything he has missed in the last 19 years.

"Not really..." My words have already left my mouth when I feel tremors of pain in my back. They pass like a wave and disappear.

Rigel senses it too and stiffens beside . "Was that a contraction?" He asks, carefully rubbing my belly.

"I think so." My thoughts are disoriented, almost terrifying . This is going to be a difficult experience. To beco a mother and take care of another human, in my case multiple humans.

"We need to get you back." He doesn’t ask, only swipes into his arms. His shadows extend and gather around , protectively, heavily crawling on my belly.

He moves his hand, wearing the ceremonial ring I have given him, with my portal-opening powers stored within. All of their rings can open portals from wherever.

The swirling mass of energy erupts in front of us. Rigel passes through and we land inside my room in the palace.

Another contraction hits .

Opening the mindlink, Rigel calls others and tells the twins to get TJ and Larissa.

"What? Babies are coming?" Alnitak’s overexcited voice puts a smile on my face.

"Get your ass here," Rigel dryly tells him, before turning off the mindlink to avoid more panic from them. It’s turning into chaos.

"I am going to get my mother once Saiph and issa get here." He covers with a blanket, arranging pillows all around to make comfortable.

I nod at him, trying not to panic. Rigel leans down and kisses my forehead where sweat had begun to bead. "Don’t worry, we are all here for you."

The door swings open, and Saiph and issa enter. Luckily she is visiting us.

"Hey! How are you feeling?" Saiph asks, quickly moving forward on his long legs. He holds in his arms, kissing my head in affection.

"Panicked," I tell them. issa cos to sit by my side and holds my hand. "You are going to be amazing. I know it."

Saiph moves and brings towels, placing them underneath . issa helps him. TJ has given instructions to everyone on what needs to be done when the contraction starts.

"Take care of her, I am going to get Mom," Rigel says to them both before opening the portal and leaving.

I sense a wetness between my legs. My water breaks. Anxiety floods , making my heart race.

My fears flood the bond and Saiph cos to hold my shaking body.

"It’s alright, it’s alright," he emphatically whispers.

The door opens and in walks both the twins followed by TJ and Larissa.

"What’s the situation?" TJ asks, hurrying towards .

My fearful eyes waver to the twins. They assuringly smile at .

"I think my water broke," I tell TJ with a long sigh.

He extracts the gloves from his pockets and puts them on. His whole deanour changes and Healer TJ as we know him is activated.

"Out, everyone, except Larissa."

"But..." Alnitak begins, bending down to kiss my head. Min holds , his eyes panicked.

"No buts. Out," TJ instructs, making their faces go long. "I need two to three helpers."

issa gets up and takes their hands. One is intertwined with Alnitak and the other with Min.

"She is in safe hands. We should let the good doctor do his work."

With their shoulders slouched they listen to issa and let her take them outside. Both have grown closer to her. They needed a sister and she has settled into their lives like the missing piece.

"Alnilam, why isn’t he here?" I ask Saiph, before he leaves.

"He is coming, don’t worry. He will be here," Saiph assures with a bright smile and exits through the door.

Larissa cos to stand by my side, placing her hand on my forehead.

"You are the bravest woman I know, just breathe and push when we say and let us do the rest." With a gulp, I nod at her. She lifts the quilt and removes my undergarnts, inspecting my uterus. Lifting my legs she arches them against the bed.

The helpers arrive, and TJ gives them instructions for everything he needs.

He checks my pulse. "How far along are the contractions?" He asks and I tell him, breathing through the pain which cos and goes in waves.

"It’s dilating, we don’t have much ti," Larissa observes underneath and TJ nods.

My heart rate is accelerating with every passing second. The bond is restless, Alnilam is not here. I can’t sense him outside with his brothers.

Where is he?

"Alnilam!" I whisper through the mindlink but he is in another state and can’t hear .

The pain in my lower body makes cry out and Larissa’s gentle command cos.

"It’s ti to start pushing, girl."

The sweat covers my forehead and tickles down my face. One of the helpers cleans the sweat with a small towel.

"Relax, breathe and then push," TJ instructs.

Taking a deep breath I nod and start my first push.
