Yarin's POV:

My mind flashed through many people in an instant, but the final mory settled on that mont at noon. Following Spil's gaze, I saw her -

Aunt Carolyn.

"At first, I couldn't be sure," Spil said, excited yet lancholic. "Appearances can change, bodies can be disguised, but the soul, no matter how much ti passes, I can still see the burning fla in her soul that fascinates .

"She looks almost identical to how I rember her, my beloved..."

He didn't continue, instead clutching his chest and displaying a bewildered expression.

"I think she doesn't rember anything. She looks happy now and no longer needs . I don't know if I should acknowledge her. I don't know, maybe I shouldn't disturb her peaceful life."

After much contemplation, Spil arrived at the conclusion to give up.

I was at my wit's end. Their love story concerned two important people in my life - Aunt Carolyn and Spil. Right before my eyes, they were about to miss each other like this.

That couldn't be it!

So, I imdiately leaned in beside him, put my arm around his shoulder, and urged, "Hey, buddy, don't think like that. It's a coincidence that both you and Aunt Carolyn are here. Doesn't it seem like so kind of heavenly sign? What heaven bestows, man must accept. If you reject it, you will suffer.

"Aunt Carolyn has been studying abroad for a long ti, surrounded by many people. What if you give up, and she encounters an as*hole, breaking her heart? What will you do then? You'll regret it too late!"

"I won't let that happen." Spil quickly shook his head. "I will silently protect her and keep her away from any danger..."

"My friend, what's your plan? Are you going to follow Aunt Carolyn like a stalker? If you do, within a week, the police will arrest you and order you to stay at least fifty ters away from her forever."

Spil fell silent.

I knew it. This guy might look like he had lived for thousands of years, but he still lacked any worldly wisdom.

I continued persuading, "Moreover, what did your beloved say to you before she left in her past life? She told you to find her, even if she might not recognize you anymore. She begged you not to forget her. Isn't that the promise you both made?

"So now that she has appeared, will you ignore your promise to her? Think about how she emphasized and pleaded with you when you parted. Have you truly decided to give up like this?"

Spil remained silent, unconsciously fiddling with the grass beside him. Several purple wildflowers had already paid the price for this love.

"Perhaps all you lack is the courage to go up and say hello. Just one chance, who can say what will happen afterward?" I continued persuading him.

"Think again, when you first t your beloved, you fell in love at first sight. You two were ant to be an immortal couple. But you hesitated, didn't dare to express your love, and lured her back ti after ti in vain, eventually angering her. If it weren't for the goddess, you would have missed this fate!

"And now, there's no goddess to back your hesitation. If you give up now, it might truly be a permanent farewell. Are you willing? Can you accept it? Are you sure you won't regret it in the future?"

Under my 'attack', Spil kept retreating, and the poor grass under him was almost uprooted.

I waited quietly, knowing that he must be in turmoil right now.

A long ti passed.

The moonlight gently spilled over the earth, reflecting shimring ripples on the stream. A light breeze swept through, dispersing the gentle moon shadows on the water's surface and lifting the fluttering colored silks in the courtyard. The bells and wind chis in the corridor chid lightly as if a fairy was playing the lively prelude of a lody.

Amidst the bells, Spil said, "You're right, kid. I shouldn't give up like a coward. A thousand reasons and excuses I gave myself were just that, excuses. In reality, I am just... afraid. Afraid that she has forgotten , afraid of her unfamiliar gaze, afraid of her distance, afraid that we'll remain stuck in the past with no future.

"But as you said, maybe all we need is a fresh start. If I stubbornly caused her to leave alone back then, of course, I should fulfill my promise now.

"I should go find her... at least not let her trust in be in vain."

Seeing him co to a decision, I clapped happily and praised, "Exactly, that's what a man should do! If you need help, just let know, and I'll do everything I can to assist you!"

Spil burst into laughter, and it was the first ti I saw such an openly emotional side of him. He bent down and embraced , sighing, "Thank you, Yarin. You've already helped so much."
