Gastone raised an eyebrow as he chuckled. "What a question," he replied, brushing it off, but Giselle persisted.
"You asked multiple questions, I answered. I think it’s ti for you to do the sa," Giselle stated sternly but with a playful look.
Gastone hesitated, caught off guard by the question. He wasn’t used to talking about himself, especially not with soone like Giselle.
"I don’t have a dream," Gastone replied lowly. He sighed deeply while rubbing his temples.
"Oh, why?" Giselle raised an eyebrow as a smirk appeared on her lips.
Gastone’s goal was to help Lucia, but that was it. He couldn’t think of anything after knowing she would soon marry Daniel.
"You can say I just had a goal, not a dream," Gastone replied flatly. He didn’t want to share too much since he didn’t know Giselle’s brain capacity to think.
"Hmm, I see," Giselle nodded. "Well then. I will be going first. This party is too boring for ."
"Okay, see you around," Gastone waved goodbye and watched Giselle enter her car.
"No, I’ll see you soon, deary," Giselle winked at Gastone before driving away.
Gastone felt goosebumps all over his skin. It wouldn’t be a problem if Giselle was young, but it was the opposite.
"Ugh, I better leave too," Gastone muttered as he patted his keys when soone called him.
"Gastone! Wait!" Daniel rushed out while waving his hands to get Gastone’s attention.
Gastone turned around and saw Daniel smiling widely. He could feel his wolf raging at the sight of a man that took their mate away.
"Daniel!" Gastone stated angrily. His tone changed out of nowhere as his wolf was clawing to kill him.
"Woah, why so furious today?" Daniel stopped and put his hands up, surprised by Gastone’s tone.
"Ah, sorry about that. I was just surprised you’re here outside," Gastone cleared his throat and pushed his wolf back in. He didn’t want to cause Lucia trouble if he lost himself.
"Oh, okay," Daniel laughed it off and went beside Gastone. "I know I told you I’ll only ask Lucia to be my girlfriend, but d@mn!"
Gastone furrowed his brow. "Sothing happened that changed your mind?" he asked curiously.
"Yes, my mother wants to propose to Lucia since she likes her so much. It’s not a bad idea, so I agree," Daniel sighed, looking at the stars with a bright smile. "And I didn’t expect Lucia to say Yes!"
Gastone turned to the side and rolled his eyes. "Well, you proposed in the public. Lucia must have felt the pressure," he replied.
Daniel’s smile dropped as Gastone destroyed his delusion. "She can still reject if she wants to," he insisted. For him, Lucia accepted his proposal because she loved him.
Gastone took a deep breath, feeling the weight of Daniel’s words settle uncomfortably in his chest. "Maybe," he conceded, though his mind spun with doubts. "But she’s not the type to make a scene, especially if she thinks it’ll be better that way."
Daniel frowned, his good mood deflating further. "I don’t think that’s the case. Lucia has always been honest with about her feelings."
Gastone nodded, not wanting to push further. "You’re probably right. Maybe she really does love you," he said, forcing a small smile. But inside, his wolf was growling, restless with the frustration and jealousy that churned within him.
Daniel studied Gastone’s face, his brow furrowing slightly. "You don’t seem too happy about it," he observed, his tone more serious now.
Gastone shrugged, trying to appear indifferent. "It’s not about being happy or not," he said. "Lucia’s my friend too. I just want what’s best for her."
"And you don’t think I am?" Daniel’s voice was quiet, but there was an edge to it now, a challenge in his eyes.
Gastone t Daniel’s gaze steadily. "I didn’t say that," he replied calmly. "But you should know what you’re getting into."
Daniel’s expression softened. "I know," he said gently. "And I want to be there for Lucia through everything."
Gastone wanted to believe him and trust that Daniel’s intentions were genuine. But sothing in his gut told him there was more to this than t the eye. He could feel his wolf pacing inside him, urging him to challenge Daniel, fight for Lucia, and claim what was rightfully his.
But Gastone pushed the feeling down and swallowed his pride. "Then take good care of her," he said simply. "That’s all I ask."
Daniel nodded, a small smile returning to his lips. "I will," he promised. "Thanks, Gastone. I always know I can count on you."
Gastone forced a smile back, feeling his heart sank a little. "Yeah," he muttered. "I’ll see you around."
"Huh, are you going now?" Daniel asked in surprise. He wanted to ask Gastone to stay until the party ended.
"Yes, there’s so ergency I need to attend to. I already put my gifts in the gift section," Gastone inford. Though there was no ergency, he just wanted to leave.
"I understand. I’ll send you an invitation soon! Don’t miss it!" Daniel exclaid as his good mood returned.
"I will," Gastone replied, watching Daniel walk away.
Gastone knew he should be happy for Lucia since her goal was to get close enough to Daniel to accomplish her plans. However, rembering how Lucia looked at him earlier when her eyes asked for his decision broke his heart.
"I even gave Lucia the go sign to agree with the proposal," Gastone murmured. He wanted to scold himself, but it was too late. "I wonder if I didn’t agree to it. What would Lucia do?"
Gastone shook his head to forget the ’what ifs’ in his thoughts. He climbed into his car and started the engine; he couldn’t shake the feeling that this was far from over.
Then, a thought ca to Gastone. Giselle’s parting words echoed in his mind— "I’ll see you soon, deary"— and he couldn’t help but wonder what she had planned.
