Alpha Kane
His phone unlocked, and I started looking through his ssages and call logs.
There were several calls from unknown numbers. I cross-referenced them with his ssages and saw that he’d received ssages from two of them.
Reading through them, I discovered that soone had shared photos of Zara, taken right outside her house and even in our office parking lot.
Full details of where she’d be on Monday evening had been given to him about four days ago.
She’d been on vacation four days ago and hadn’t even suspected I was planning to take her to the event. But many in the office knew. Azbial and his entire security team knew because I’d inford them of my "plus-one" in advance.
Anyone could have leaked the information to him. But it was obvious I had a mole nearby, and once I found him or her, they would be lost.
"Who sent you these ssages about her?" I growled, trying to keep my voice restrained but deadly.
His screams died down a bit as a pool of blood ford beneath his bound hands.
"...I... I don’t know, they just texted ... threatened my family... They forced to do it," he replied, shaking with pain. His face and tears were a jumbled ss, but I didn’t feel sorry for him.
He hurt her; he shouldn’t have hurt her.
"You could have gone to the police. But instead, you went and tried to kidnap her. I should have buried you alive, let the worms eat your body," I couldn’t keep the sarcasm and threat from my growl.
"Please! Believe , I had no choice..." he begged.
"You did go, you just chose the wrong person and crossed the wrong people. Where were you planning on eting him?" "I asked, looking at his phone again.
"That information was never disclosed; they said to contact them only if I successfully got the girl out of there and provided a photo of her tied up to prove it."
The enemy was smart and knew what they were doing. There could be more than one.
Taking out my cell phone, I opened the photos from Zara’s phone and compared the numbers with the one from which she had received the threat.
None of them matched, as all the numbers were disposable, and I assud they were using a new number each ti to avoid being traced.
I felt like tugging at my hair in despair, but at that mont, I had to pull myself together. Raising my face, I glanced at the man.
"Have you ever talked to them on the phone?"
He nodded.
"Yes, but it seems they used a voice changer. It wasn’t my real voice."
Of course. This man had nothing else to offer, and his presence was infuriating . Before I could decide his fate, my phone rang. I pressed the answer button, answering the call from Caysir.
"Sir, Miss Zara has been discharged. Should I take her ho?"
"Yes, I’ll be there as soon as I’m done here."
A slight sense of relief settled in my heart, knowing she’d be ho as soon as I returned. Having finished the call, I turned to the man, who looked at with a mixture of guilt and hope.
"Who in your family were they threatening?" I asked, looking at him with disgust.
I stood up and tossed his phone to Hunter, putting mine in my pocket.
"My sister and niece. They’re all I have. They said I’d find their things in my bags if I didn’t do what they asked of ."
I took a threatening step toward him and stood, crossing my arms, glaring at him as if he were a spider I was about to crush with my boot.
"Fine, give their information to Hunter, and I will ensure they are never hard and always cared for." Confusion crossed his face, and I continued, "And you, on the other hand, will never see the light of day again."
Terror played across his face, like refracted light, as he began his ramblings, which I ignored. I never listened to people whose lives ant nothing to .
Now this man’s life ant nothing to . He was insignificant, an enemy who had hurt soone I had beco too dear to. Turning to Beta, I asked for his dagger. He handed it to silently and without question.
"Get all the necessary information from him and send it to Black Pack. I never want to see him again." Beta nodded knowingly.
He nodded at and only looked at the man with disdain.
The man writhed, scread, and begged. The chair rattled as he tried to free himself from the shackles, but he had absolutely nowhere to go.
Grabbing the dagger by its cold hilt, I quickly brought it down on his bound right hand, then repeated the action twice.
Blood, thick and the color of rubies, spurted along with his wild screams. But I didn’t care; those hands would never harm her again.
Taking my ti, I made sure that by the ti I was done, he would have no functioning hands, only a bloody ss. Tiny drops of blood covered my face, but I regretted nothing; all my emotions were shut off, and I was exactly as cold as everyone thought I was.
This man brought out the worst in . I could only imagine what I was about to do to whoever was behind this ss.
When I finished, I dropped the dagger to the floor and stepped back.
"Clean up the ss, Hunter. I’m going pack house." I stepped away, and Beta quietly handed a napkin.
Without looking back, I walked away, wiping my face and hands with the white napkin, stripping it of its innocence and staining it red.
Ho, I needed to go ho, to see her. Maybe her warm presence would lt so of this coldness, because my mind was in complete darkness.
I have a eting with Alphas in the pack house; they must have arrived by now.
