DAMON~
My mind was a scattered ss, littered with expenses and reports I had no idea how to organize. What was once my room had now been converted into an office. Files stacked to the ceiling, seemingly relentless and never-ending, I let out an exhausted groan as I tossed one of them to the pile that sat beside my table.
"I’m gonna lose my mind," I said to myself as I tugged at the strands of my hair.
"I doubt that Alpha," Carlos replied.
"Don’t call that," I said, My voice filled with the embodint of my unstable nerves, I lifted my head and turned to him.
"Have the riots subsided?"
"No."
"Challengers?"
"Growing each day, both for the position of the Alpha and Beta," Carlos replied blankly. It was understandable they saw neither of us as worthy of the position we have.
"I need an advisor." I groaned.
"I may have a suggestion," Carlos interjected.
"Who?"
"Daniel."
"Daniel?" I asked skeptically.
"Yes."
"I thought you didn’t like him."
"My personal problems with soone should not hinder helping the Alpha."
"Ok. Why him?"
"The way he thinks. He might be a dick but his mind is a gem."
"There are other people more suitable," I argued opening up the files of n who wanted the position.
"Old n who would take your age as a weakness, you need soone who doesn’t think you’re just a kid." He replied. I thought about it, Any man I hired would look at as a child and certainly make my life harder but Daniel wouldn’t, and right now I needed soone to reduce my stress not pile on it.
"Ok."
"Go get him"
"On it." He replied and walked out of the office, shutting the door firmly behind him.
As he left earshot I let out another tired sigh, I was almost at my limit, I could feel a ntal breakdown coming towards like a hurricane, I couldn’t stop it, the mountain of stress and anxiety growing each day that passes.
I hate my life.
As I picked up the next file to begin looking through it I heard a gentle knock at my door, From the sll of her perfu I knew it was her, and a smile curved my lips.
"Co in," I said, she pushed open the door and poked her head through the gap, as her eyes caught mine her face lit up but sohow it made sick to my stomach, I ignored the feeling as she walked in wearing a black sundress with golden floral patterns running down the lines of thread, black Jordans that lifted her an inch of the floor.
"Hey." She greeted softly, her warm smile still lighting up her face, welcoming but not gleeful.
"Hey, Ze," I responded, putting down the file and focusing on her.
"Do you need help?" She asked, gesturing to the files on my table, I shook my head gently.
"Thanks though.", she smiled and sat on the empty chair, the sick feeling intensified. What the fuck?
"When are you gonna be done?"
"Not anyti soon."
"I can stay if you want to." She pressed.
"Why would I want you to?" I asked, the hostility in my voice surprising , her face twisted with confusion, she was hurt by my tone but still she smiled. Why was she smiling?
"I’m sorry." She apologized
"Of course you are," I replied, my words cold with disgust.
"Ok." She said as he rose from her seat "I’m gonna go."
"I’d like that very much," I replied, she glared at for a few seconds, her face twisted with confusion.
"What the fuck did I do?"
"Are you seriously asking that?" I answered angrily, all my previous misconceptions about the way I’d been speaking to her disappearing without a trace.
"Yes, what’s with the fucking tone Damon!" She shouted, calling by my na, she hadn’t done that in a while but for so reason, I couldn’t care less.
"You’re pissing off!"
"?, what did I do!"
"Your fucking smile Zarah, Why the fuck are you smiling!"
"So my smile is offending you?" She yelled.
"Yes, why are you smiling, what’s there to smile about, did soone tell a joke I missed!" I shouted I could see the hurt in her eyes as she heard my words.
"So I’m not allowed to smile if there wasn’t a joke?" She asked hysterically.
"No, don’t smile, at all!" I snapped, and she stepped back but I didn’t relent.
"After what your traitor father did you think you have the right to even speak in my presence!" I barked angrily, stepping closer to her.
"How is that my fault?" She cried out, but I was too far gone to be logical.
"You’re his fucking daughter and as he ran away his cris transfer to you!"
"But I didn’t do anything wrong!" She pleaded, her eyes watering up as she continued to back up till her back was against the cold walls, I ca close.
"Wrong, You’re breathing when my father isn’t," I said with a low growl, as my words left my mouth so did the tears fall down the side of her face.
"Why are you crying?"
"I—"
"Why the fuck are you crying!!" I shouted slamming my fist into the wall beside her.
"I’m sorry."She cried.
"Of course you are, that’s the only thing a useless piece of shit can be ’SORRY’," I said. I had no idea why I was being so harsh, But talking to her like this was making feel a little bit better about my situation.
"Damon." She called quietly as she looked into my hate-filled eyes.
"Don’t ever call na," I growled as I slowly stepped away from her and walked back to my office, I sat down and looked at her. She still stood at the wall with a frightened look on her face, her eyes glued to , I looked at her.
"Get out," I ordered coldly, she was hesitant, her tears fell off her jaw down to the ground but when Carlos opened the door and entered she imdiately ran out.
"What’s wrong with her." He questioned as Daniel entered the office.
"Not a concern of yours," I replied rudely, he raised a brow but I ignored him and turned my eyes to Daniel.
"Co and take a seat," I ordered, he nodded and walked to the chair.
