Chapter 214: Chapter 214 – You miss what I can do for you
"Luna Sera..."
The words rippled through the ward like a shockwave, drawing gasps from both the staff and the patients lying in their beds. Heads turned all at once, eyes widening as they took her in, as if they weren’t quite sure what they were looking at anymore.
"She looks different," one of the doctors whispered under his breath, unable to hide his surprise.
Marsha scoffed instantly, her voice laced with pure disdain. ’Obviously. Anyone would glow after getting out of this miserable place.’
"Luna, you’re back?" Doctor Raymond stepped forward, a smile stretching across his face, though it didn’t reach his eyes. Beneath that carefully arranged expression sat sothing tighter, almost uneasy.
If Seraphine was really back, then his position as director wouldn’t last long.
"She’s here to create the cure," Damon said before Seraphine could respond, his tone even as he caught the flicker of relief that passed through Raymond’s eyes. "We’ve missed her."
A few of the patients nodded quickly. "Yes... we really missed her."
Seraphine didn’t even look at them.
She had already moved to the nearest bed, her attention fixed on the patient lying there, whose face instantly filled with guilt under her quiet scrutiny. Seraphine checked her condition with steady, practiced movents before finally speaking, her voice calm but cutting straight through the room.
"Cut the act."
The words landed hard.
"You don’t have to pretend just because you need my help." She straightened slightly, her gaze sweeping across the ward, sharp and unyielding. "Let’s be honest... you don’t miss . You miss what I can do for you."
Silence followed, heavy, suffocating silence.
Sha settled over their faces one by one, no one daring to et her eyes anymore, the earlier enthusiasm dying off as quickly as it ca.
After finishing her checks, Seraphine pulled back, her expression unreadable. "They still have ti."
"No, this hurts!" one of the patients cried out suddenly, her voice breaking as she clutched at the sheets.
Seraphine turned to her slowly, her gaze cold enough to make the air feel thinner.
"Stop pretending," she said flatly. "I’ve been on that bed before too." Her voice dropped, quieter but far heavier. "For months."
That hit harder than anything else. "And not one of you rembered you had a Luna."
The crying stopped instantly, like soone had cut it off.
Nervous tension spread through the room, crawling into every corner until it settled deep in everyone’s chest. No one spoke, no one moved, until a hesitant voice broke through.
"Luna... please forgive us."
It ca from a teenager, her eyes wide, filled with genuine fear and regret.
Seraphine didn’t respond. She simply looked away, as if the words didn’t reach her at all.
"I’ll be in the lab," she said instead, already moving on. "Damon, take care of Bryan."
"No," Bryan said quickly, straightening his posture. "I want to co with you. One day, I’m going to be a genius doctor just like you."
That pulled a faint smile from her.
She reached out, ruffling his hair gently, the gesture soft in contrast to everything else she had just said. "Alright, pup, let’s go make so magic."
Bryan’s face lit up instantly, excitent bubbling out of him as he grabbed onto her hand.
Around them, the staff exchanged glances, confusion flickering through their expressions.
Where was the Alpha?
Where was the co-Luna?
Did they even know Bryan was with her?
One of the nurses wasted no ti, quietly sending a mindlink.
’Co-Luna, Luna Sera is here... and Bryan is with her. He looks really happy.’
??????????
Daisy paced back and forth inside her room, her thoughts running wild as she tried to figure out her next move before Seraphine fully settled in.
Then the mindlink hit.
Her steps halted instantly.
The ssage echoed in her mind, and just like that, anger surged through her, tightening her chest.
Still, she forced herself to breathe, forcing calm into her voice as she responded.
’She’s only here to help. She’ll be gone before you know it.’
There was a brief pause before the reply ca again.
’That’s good... I just hope Alpha Ravyn doesn’t fall for her now. She looks even prettier than before.’
Daisy’s jaw clenched so tightly it hurt, her teeth grinding together until it felt like they might crack.
’That won’t happen,’ she shot back, her tone firm, almost desperate beneath the surface. ’Ravyn loves .’
The mind link ended, but her anger didn’t.
If anything, it grew stronger.
By the ti she turned back toward the room, her expression had already hardened, her mind racing ahead, piecing together sothing new, sothing strong enough to push Seraphine to where she belonged.
In the dungeon.
??????????
Inside the lab, Seraphine slipped on her coat with ease, her movents smooth and familiar, like she had never left this place at all.
Damon and Bryan sat off to the side, watching her closely, while Doctor Raymond lingered nearby, clearly unwilling to leave just yet.
"I’d like to observe," he said, trying to sound polite, though the eagerness in his eyes gave him away. "Maybe learn a few things."
Seraphine didn’t even pause.
"I’m afraid that won’t be happening," she replied calmly, her attention still on the equipnt in front of her. "I never agreed to teach you."
The words were polite, but the dismissal was absolute.
After everything Daisy had done, pushing out the best doctors, Seraphine had no intention of stepping in just to make soone else look competent.
Raymond’s lips parted like he wanted to argue, but in the end, he swallowed it down, choosing silence instead. There were other ways to get what he wanted.
He could always speak to the Alpha, or the co-Luna, Daisy.
Seraphine, anwhile, was already focused.
She began mixing chemicals with practiced precision, her attention unwavering as she combined them carefully until a small burst popped from the container, releasing a spray of harmless sparks.
Bryan burst into laughter. "Mom, do it again!"
A soft chuckle escaped her as she repeated the process, earning another round of delighted laughter from him.
"Can I try?" he asked eagerly, practically bouncing where he stood.
"Of course."
She pulled over a small stool, guiding him up with gentle hands before walking him through each step, her voice patient, steady, letting him take the lead while she stayed close enough to keep things safe.
Bryan laughed the entire ti, the sound filling the lab, bright and carefree in a place that had felt tense just monts ago.
And then, everything changed. The air tensed up again, as a presence settled into the space, heavy and unmistakable.
Marsha’s voice ca imdiately, sharp with awareness. ’Well... this is interesting. His wolf likes .’
Seraphine’s hands stilled for just a second. Slowly, she lifted her gaze, and her eyes locked onto the last person she ever expected to see standing there.
A low growl rumbled from him, deep and instinctive, vibrating through the room as tension snapped tight between them.
