Chapter 121: Chapter 121 – Sera, what exactly are you doing with Voren?
On the other end of the call, Augustine felt a tight knot forming in his throat so suddenly that he had to cough several tis before he could speak, the sound rough and strained as though the words he wanted to say had caught sowhere deep inside his chest and refused to move any further.
"Sera, what exactly are you doing with Voren?" he finally asked, his voice carrying a mixture of confusion and concern as he tried to understand why her na had suddenly beco tied to the chairman of the Sovereign Circle.
Seraphine leaned back slightly in the chair across from Voren’s desk, her posture relaxed and her expression composed in a way that suggested the chaos surrounding her no longer had the power to disturb her calm.
"Oh, nothing unusual," she replied smoothly, her tone steady and almost casual despite the seriousness of the situation she was about to reveal. "He’s simply acting as a witness to what two of his friends, Alpha Gray Sanders and Riven Thorne, did to
at the Sovereign Circle."
For a mont there was silence on the line as Augustine processed her words, and when he spoke again his voice carried unmistakable curiosity.
"You actually attended the Sovereign Circle eting?"
A faint smile curled Seraphine’s lips as she rembered the night that had nearly ended her life.
"Yeah, I went there and managed to secure a number of investors for my company," she explained calmly, as if she were describing an ordinary business gathering rather than a eting filled with so of the most powerful billionaires in the region. "Unfortunately, Gray and Riven decided to poison
with wolfbane before the night was over."
Her voice remained steady as she continued, even though the mory itself was anything but pleasant.
"I still have no idea who actually saved ," she added thoughtfully while her eyes lowered for a brief mont, because the mory of waking up after believing she had already died remained deeply unsettling. "But I’m going to keep searching until I find that person because I owe them my life, and that kind of debt deserves genuine gratitude."
On the other end of the call, Augustine reacted imdiately. "Wait a mont," he said sharply as disbelief rushed into his voice. "Are you telling
that soone actually dared to poison you?"
"With wolfbane, August," Seraphine confird without hesitation while the seriousness of that word seed to echo through the conversation. "My wolf was already saying goodbye to , and I honestly believed that was the end, but sohow I woke up later. The scent of wolfbane was still very strong in my mouth when I regained consciousness, and even though Leon, my human doctor friend insists that he was the one who saved ..."
"That’s impossible," Augustine interrupted firmly before she could finish her sentence, his tone leaving absolutely no room for doubt. "If Leon is human, and humans know nothing about wolfbane or how to counteract its effects so how could he save you?"
His voice gradually settled into the controlled authority of soone who had already begun planning the next steps.
"Because of this case, I will be leaving for the council tomorrow," he continued in a asured tone that reflected the seriousness of the matter. "I will send you the official forms so you can legally lodge the complaint, and once that part is completed, I will personally take care of the investigation."
A small smile spread on Seraphine’s face as she listened but Voren caught sothing. She had introduced Leon as a human doctor friend when she spoke with Augustine.
"So what kind of consequences should I expect once the investigation begins?" she asked with calm curiosity, because she wanted to know exactly how far the punishnt would reach if Gray and Riven were proven guilty.
Augustine did not hesitate when answering. "The first step will involve temporarily removing them from their positions as Alphas while the investigation takes place," he explained clearly. "During that ti, their betas will assu leadership of their packs so that everything continues running normally."
His voice grew colder as he continued. "If the accusations are confird, both n and their entire bloodlines will lose the right to hold the Alpha position for the next ten centuries, which essentially ends their family’s political influence for generations."
He paused briefly before delivering the final part of the punishnt.
"As for the individuals directly responsible for the cri, they will be permanently banished from their packs."
A quiet breath left Seraphine’s chest as relief settled into her expression. "That sounds perfectly acceptable to ," she replied with clear satisfaction. "I’ll keep an eye out for the forms."
"Anything for you, Sera," Augustine responded warmly, though there was a hint of playful expectation in his voice as the tension between them softened slightly. "But when all of this is finished, you should treat
to lunch the next ti we et."
Seraphine laughed softly at the suggestion, her amusent genuine. "Of course," she answered easily while leaning back more comfortably in her chair. "Just give
a call once you return from the pack and I’ll arrange everything."
She paused for a mont before continuing, her tone gaining the confident edge she always carried when discussing business matters.
"You could also consider investing in my new company while we’re at it because the returns are going to be massive, but we can talk about that when we et for lunch."
Across the room, Voren’s lips parted slightly as he listened to the conversation unfold.
He understood very clearly that Augustine had not been referring to an ordinary lunch invitation. The man had clearly intended sothing closer to a date.
Yet Seraphine had redirected the entire situation with remarkable ease, transforming what could have beco a personal eting into a professional one by presenting him with a business opportunity that served as a subtle form of paynt for his assistance.
The realization caused a quiet chill to travel down Voren’s spine.
This woman possessed a rare ability to use powerful people to achieve her goals while avoiding the burden of owing them anything in return, and that kind of careful balance could beco extrely dangerous when the individuals involved were n who held enormous influence.
Before the silence inside the office could grow any heavier, Voren reached for his own phone and dialed Gray’s number.
Once the call connected, he wasted no ti with pleasantries. "Gray, I’m sorry, but I’m pulling out my investnts," he said firmly, his voice leaving no doubt that the decision had already been made.
