Early in the morning, the sunlight shimred and floated.

Just overnight, the peach blossoms on the trees in the Ten-Mile Peach Blossom Grove had all fallen, creating a thick layer on the ground.

The air everywhere was dense with the heavy fragrance of peach blossoms. Townspeople flocked to the streets, their faces showing shock at the scene before them.

"Though it’s normal for the flowers to fall, why do I still find it so astonishing?"

"We can make peach blossom pastries now."

"Could soone have gone to the Ten-Mile Peach Blossom Grove and done sothing to offend the Peach Blossom Fairy..."

Even the scholars, who once spoke so eloquently, fell silent before the withering peach blossoms, quietly watching the incredible sight.

Overnight, the vibrant and beautiful sea of peach blossoms in Tao City had turned into a barren field of withered branches, leaving everyone dumbfounded and exchanging blank looks.

Finally, an elderly man looking at the scene sighed,

"Such a strange sight has finally co to an end."

"Still, I wonder what caused it."

...

In the small cabin on the mountaintop, two people held each other tightly, breathing evenly.

On any other day, Dan Wulan would have already opened her eyes by now to tend to that peach tree. However, she had exhausted herself caring for it with such fervor the previous night.

She lay in his embrace, occasionally rubbing her head against the man who held her tight.

Stretching her arms like a little cat, she smacked her lips.

Su Bei gently opened his eyes, quietly watching the woman lying beside him.

The sunlight hit her cheek, and the corners of her mouth twitched slightly, as if she were recalling sothing.

Her white hair seed to stick together from sweat. Seeing this, Su Bei gave a mischievous smile and reached a finger toward her mouth.

"MMM..."

"MMM?"

The morning breeze gently rustled the brocade quilt covering her. Teased like this by the man before her, Dan Wulan’s eyelashes fluttered a few tis. She opened her eyes to see Su Bei leaning on his side, propping up his cheek with his hand, wearing a gentle smile as he looked at her.

"Awake?"

Feeling the soreness in her legs and seeing the peach blossom petals on the ground moistened with "dew," Dan Wulan was montarily confused, silently contemplating life.

As Su Bei’s large hand reached toward her, Dan Wulan was startled and scooted back, instinctively saying,

"What... what are you trying to do?"

Her longing for him had been so intense that she had forgotten how, back in Wu City, Su Bei had utterly exhausted her.

"What does your husband want to do?"

"Hmm? What did Wulan say last night?"

"Of course, it’s to..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a blush instantly spread across Dan Wulan’s cheeks. She quickly covered Su Bei’s mouth with her fair hand and shot him a sharp glare from her cool eyes.

Last night, in a mont of excitent, she had naturally been entirely pliant to his wishes, so much so that she couldn’t even rember what nonsense she had spouted.

Now, the only things she rembered were saying things like, "I do like..." "I can accept..." "Peach blossoms are just an excuse to get close; I like you the most." "I really love your white hair; it matches Lan Bao’er’s so well..."

How could I have said things so out of character?

But she *had* said them. Under the rain of peach blossoms, she hadn’t paused to think before pouring all her long-held longing for him into his heart. She loved seeing the satisfied expression on his face as he listened to her heartfelt words.

However, such sentintal words were hardly the worst of it; she couldn’t rember at all what she had said later in the night.

Whatever it was, she had shouted loudly. In the end, she had even pushed Su Bei to the ground, and then...

Anyway, she was still faintly aching.

"What is Lan Bao’er thinking about?"

"Are you uncomfortable?"

Su Bei saw her face flush then pale. Worried, he rose, intending to touch her forehead.

Unexpectedly, Dan Wulan imdiately recoiled as if she had developed a phobia of so colossal object...

"That... you..."

Biting her lower lip, she gently pushed Su Bei away and whispered,

"Let recover a bit."

"It’s all because of you... I can hardly walk."

Su Bei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, then he finally took the ti to study her carefully.

Her usually cool eyes looked red and swollen, as if from crying. Tear tracks still stained her face, and her peach-blossom eyes glistened.

It was unclear whether it was due to being overly moved the night before or so other reason, but combined with her sowhat reproachful tone, she looked incredibly pitiable.

After a mont, Dan Wulan seed to finally erge from her dazed state. She put on her bellyband, letting Su Bei tie it for her. Her expression was sowhat odd, her brow knitting and unknitting repeatedly, before she couldn’t help but say,

"Last night... I might have been invaded by the Evil Qi in my Sea of Consciousness."

"Hmm, I don’t rember anything."

"I might have spouted so abnormal things in my delirium."

She was afraid he would see through her deception and, equally, afraid of leaving a bad impression on him.

Su Bei naturally knew her little tricks. He helped her dress, placed a gentle kiss on her lips, and said with a smile,

"It must be so. Your husband understands."

He carefully combed her sowhat disheveled white hair.
