The ’Dusk Realm’ between the ’Dark Realm’ and the ’Day Realm’ is the first step of the expansion.
Although various tests had long confird the validity of the Formation, the excitent when the Formation truly began to operate was uncontrollable.
As ’Candle Mountain’ lit up, people, birds, and Dragon Snakes began to gradually erge from the mountain and hill caves, flying out. They all cheered, gathered together, high-fived, flapped their wings, and wagged their tails to signal each other.
Their attire was mostly that of engineering personnel, with thick, dense protective suits resembling Armor, even the dragons were no exception, wrapped in a spring-like Artifact. A small number of them looked like guards, with strong and grim Armor making them resemble the Heavenly Generals of ancient Divine Court, yet even in such attire, the guards’ eagerness was discernible.
Candle Mountain being ignited signifies that the Day Realm will expand. One hundred and eighteen Sky Islands can nurture tens of millions, and even over a hundred million people, and the rare resources possibly contained therein, pre-catastrophe facilities and supplies, even the possible ’Heaven Star Revelation’, are what the [Wilderness Alliance] currently needs the most.
And most crucially, this technology is feasible, indicating that in the not-so-distant future, more than a dozen Candle Mountains will be ignited, darkness will be dispelled, and evil demons will retreat. It’s the grand anthem of a new era, where people who’ve endured for over a century will use their hands and hot blood, under the glow of light, to launch a counterattack against the darkness.
Who could not be joyful?
Even a ssenger bringing bad news couldn’t help but be attracted by the glow of Candle Mountain, turning his head to watch for a while.
After a few breaths, he turned his head, looking at the leader of the Candle Mountain construction team who had likewise stowed away his smile and whose facial expression had turned solemn.
"The reinforcents were intercepted."
The ssenger wore simple attire, with a wind-blocking cloak that looked like a worn-out gray bedsheet. The construction team leader was in no better condition, lean and covered in dust, as if he had just crawled out of so underground cave.
"Is it the evil demons or the Escape Faction?" The leader’s voice was also dry, having squeezed out all excess panic, dissatisfaction, and anger into a calm: "When will the second wave of reinforcents arrive?"
"It’s the Escape Faction." The ssenger handed a secret command Jade Slip to the leader: "The second wave of reinforcents will take about nine hours to arrive, and there is a high possibility of delay."
"But there is so good news." Upon delivering the Jade Slip, the ssenger added: "The captured Escape Faction provided their Dark Realm observation data—as they always claim, the evil demons lurking in the deep Sea Abyss have been attracted by the glow of Candle Mountain and will launch a full-scale attack on Candle Mountain within a few hours."
"These evil demons fear the glow of the Heaven Abyss Star and the light of the Candle Day deity. Unless there is a Demon Disaster, they would never enter the Day Realm, but this ti they have no choice. If we can endure, we can fundantally weaken the strength of the next Demon Disaster, and the areas they once occupied will be where the next Candle Mountain Fire Seed will shine."
"Sounds a bit like we’re being used as sacrifices." The dry leader took the Jade Slip, closed his eyes to sense its contents, then said flatly: "Hmm, the sa old story, it seems we really are the sacrifices—technology has been verified, flushing out the Escape Faction’s spies, confirming that ’Candle Mountain’ being ignited indeed triggers a counterattack from the deep-layered evil demons, demanding we hold out for twelve hours, awaiting reinforcents."
"If we survive, we’re heroes; if we fail, we’re tragic heroes. The success of Candle Mountain and the subsequent failure due to enemy obstruction can boost morale, incite hatred and rage, making originally hesitant citizens support us. The mont we lit Candle Mountain, the Escape Faction was done for; they thought they were blocking reinforcents, but in reality, the reinforcents were deliberately held up by them. Our best outco is to die here; surviving would seem less aningful."
The leader’s summation was quite blunt: "Perhaps I should let Candle Mountain self-destruct; that way, it would be a bit more dignified to die."
"And you." At this point, the leader furrowed his brow, looking up at the ssenger: "Did they deceive you into coming here?"
"No." The ssenger shook his head: "I knew what was going to happen here."
"You knew." Crushing the Jade Slip, the dry leader gazed at the young ssenger before him: "Yet you still ca, both foolish and stubborn."
"Father," the ssenger said, "I don’t rule out that so people might think that way, but definitely not everyone. You always think the worst of everything, which is why you couldn’t stay at the Deep Realm Technology Bureau. However, if the minds of the four committee mbers were truly that dark, our alliance couldn’t have risen again after the world collapse—my arrival here is proof."
Before the leader could utter another wizened and biting remark, the ssenger retrieved sothing more crucial from his bosom.
A Token.
A... Great Void Magical Instrunt.
This Token-like Great Void Magical Instrunt didn’t fall to the ground; it hovered in mid-air, glimring with tallic brilliance before beginning to enlarge.
Like a sponge absorbing water, flas rising, more chanical structures, more Scale Armor, fraworks, diamond blades, and sturdy circular tal erged from the light, allowing a majestic silver Armor to unfold, expand, and take shape mid-air.
The ssenger stepped forward, raising his hand, with a glow flickering at his wrist. The silver Armor was attracted to this glow, rushing towards the young ssenger as if embracing or rging, the Armor and the ssenger fused in the light, with scale-like plates layer over layer closing, opening, finally hinging, overlapping, and interlocking at the back to form a raised arc.
