In the Wendover residence, the hall settled into silence as Angela had finally managed to get Clara back into her room.

Clara had spiralled into a shocked state at the knowledge that Ian could see through her. It was very ridiculous, no matter how one looked at it. With Ian’s level of societal power, this should not have even co as a surprise to Clara, but it did. No wonder so people thought her dumb!

The very fact that Ian had been able to know that she had received a little note from prosecutor Presque and also understood its contents was unsettling. Clearly, Clara did not know that there was a phenonon such as CCTVs. In Clara’s myopic view, she just could not understand.

She sat stomped on her bed, not knowing what to do. She wanted to scream and destroy things in her room as she usually would have done. It could be noted that Clara got a sense of satisfaction from smashing things when she was upset.

However, that had been taken from her. Ian’s subsequent threats were very fresh in her mind and she also had no credit or bank cards to rely on. From what had been said, Clara would not be able to shop at will as she had beco accustod to after she t Jas Wendover. To Clara, that was the most terrifying of all! In spite of all those, Clara could still not see herself working.

Angela busied herself in the room, picking up discarded clothes and also putting the broken and useless items in the bin. She swept the floor clean and finally located Clara’s damaged phone behind her dresser.

Angela sighed and she picked up the phone.

"Madam Clara...."

"WHAT!"

Angela did not flinch even after hearing that hostile voice.

"Your phone. What do we do?" Angela asked helplessly.

"Give yours!"

"Huh?"

"Quick!"

Angela had no option but to stop what she was doing and hand over her old small phone to her mistress.

"Open that app thingy you showed last ti!" Clara demanded.

Angela obliged, and soon, the little automated voice was reading the words on the contract Currey had handed to Clara.

Clara listened attentively despite her unwillingness. A few minutes later, she slumped down on the bed, drained, but what option did she have?

"Madam?"

Clara did not raise her head as it seed like all her energy had seeped out of her. She could not even afford to throw a tantrum. Clara’s eyes hardened.

Angela still continued, knowing perfectly well that her mistress was all ears.

"I think you should go ahead with this. After all, with Sir Wendover not around, you will have no one to even chat with. You should try to see the benefits here. You love clothes and fashion. How about making a na for yourself in that space? You know the way that the other rich madams left you hanging? I think you should rise up and put them in their place! What have you got to lose anyway?"

Angela did not wait to see Clara’s reaction. Taking the heap of clothes in her cloth bag, Angela left the room and Clara to her own thoughts. The maid had been with Clara long enough sotis to be able to speak with her as an equal. She trusted that Clara would co to the sa conclusion as she had done.

anwhile, in the hall, Currey suddenly said,

"Ah, I forgot to add that the prosecutor will not go scot-free. I have made the necessary arrangents for that. We should be seeing the results by the end of the day!"

Ian nodded absentmindedly, all his attention on his wife, who was finally back on the sofa by his side.

Currey’s face fell as if he had been waiting for a pat on the back when he did not get the reaction he was looking for. Seeing this, Murray, who had been quiet throughout this ti, snickered.

’Even after all these years, Currey has not changed even an ounce!’

Shelby, Rocky and Ava listened on in amazent and similar thoughts. ’So that was how power worked?’

The issue that they had seen no way out of had been solved just like that.

Rocky brought out his phone and searched on the online platforms that he had started seeing his mother’s video shared earlier that morning. However, all he saw were people asking what had happened to the video. Even the comnts that people had made underneath it had all but disappeared.

In its place and quickly rising to the top of the searches were comnts and calls for the Prosecutor to resign from his position for using his public powers for his own benefit.

Rocky opened his mouth in surprise.

"Brother Ian! You are the best!"

Ian smirked.

Ava also did the sa on her phone and ca to the sa results. Ian suddenly stood up with Shelby, just as Rocky asked.

"Brother Ian, is it really okay for to keep such a large sum of money?" Ian hesitated and finally asked. It had been gnawing at him for so ti and he really wanted to ask.

"What large sum?" Ian asked, puzzled. Ian turned to Currey and then realization dawned on him.

Ian had reacted that way because, in his view, the money he had paid to Jas Wendover and then later transferred to Rocky was just peanuts.

"Just do whatever you want with it!"

"Sis! Help thank Brother Ian!"

Rocky shouted at the couple’s retreating backs. Ian whispered to Shelby as they took the stairs up, "You heard your brother, right? I wonder how you are going to thank , my dear Elfin?"

Shelby blushed, understanding the suggesting hint behind his comnt.

Rocky watched his sister and her husband go up the stairs with a broad smile on his face.

"YES!!!"

"Are you that happy?" Ava asked, and Rocky nodded vigorously.

"Sis is so happy to have t brother Ian! I am so happy for her!"

" too...." Ava added, gazing at the empty stairwell. She had known that Rocky’s enthusiasm was towards his sister’s happiness and not necessarily the money that had made the 19-year-old a rich man overnight.

Just then, an email popped up on Rocky’s phone.

It was from his school Principal.

Rocky gasped!

"What is it?" Ava asked curiously,

"I got an email from my school principal."

Ava scoffed. "What is so surprising about that?"

"He is sending a personal email. I an from his personal email and not the school’s email!"

Ava walked up to Rocky and leaned over. She did it so naturally that even she had not realized that it was a bit abnormal. Rocky paused and then smiled broadly. Leaning down a little and closer to Ava so that she could see his phone’s screen.

’Dear Mr Rockwell Wendover,

I hope you are well. It has co to my attention that you have received an email in error. I deeply apologize for the mishap. This should have never been sent to you. I will deal with all the parties involved in this, and rest assured that our academic board has not taken any such decision about any such situation. Please disregard that email. The school will forward an apology email to you for the ntal distress that this may have caused.

Also, leave any complaints that have been generated from your father’s unfortunate situation to . This is an academic institution that stands by our students in any situation. I hope that you continue to study with us. Also, take as much ti you need to settle the ho issues and co back.

PS: Please put in a good word with your brother-in-law on my behalf.

Signed

The Principal.

True to the words of the email, another similar email was received from the dical school’s official email along the sa lines.

What Rocky had no idea of was that, in the principal’s office, he sat sweating in his airconditioned office. It was a Sunday, but he was in the office. He itched to add to the email, ’Please tell Ian not to fire from my job....’

However, he was not able to bring himself to do that. There was a limit to shalessness, and he could not. His hands trembled as he re-read through the ssage he had received from Ian Thornston’s assistant.

He had really thought that Ian had left the Wendover’s to their own devices and he had dared promised so other parents that he would get rid of Rockwell. The Principal was not wrong in his thinking at all. That was the perception almost everyone had had after Jas’ sentencing. However, they were all in for a rude awakening.

Rocky dropped his hand that held the phone. Then he brought it up again and asked,

"Ava?"

"Yes?"

"Are you reading the sa thing that I am?"

"Yep!"

"It is really from my Principal? The man that is so revered and scary that we -"

Rocky stopped and then turned to Currey, who had finally taken a seat.

"Currey? What did you do? Why is-"

Rocky could not even complete the statent.

"I told you it was a minor problem. Do you like the results?"

"So, you really did it?" Rocky asked, amazed, itching to ask what was done but Rocky could not bring himself to.

"Who else could do that?" Currey replied, buffing up his chest. Murray just shook his head as the two engaged in a lively talk. Rocky just could not get over that.

Just then, Rocky’s phone rang, and he checked the caller ID. Rocky ignored it. However, the phone kept ringing until he gave up and picked it up.

"Excuse , Currey," he said, picking up the call.

"Mr. Rockwell Wendover?"

"Who is this?"

"Ermm... this is your Principal..."

"Principal?!" Rocky scread up and then re-checked the caller ID again.

"Sir,-"

The man beat him to the next sentence, though.

"Mr Rockwell, did you receive my email? I-"
