Blayn’s attention shifted from the Conscience Faction list to Aka and Kuro.

He couldn’t help but be surprised—had their relationship suddenly improved? Given Kuro’s previous attitude toward Aka, he had assud there was little hope for reconciliation anyti soon. The others seed just as taken aback.

Now, Aka and Kuro looked like nothing less than a pair of close sisters.

“There’s no problem with you two working together, but I’m curious—how did your relationship suddenly get better?” Najenda asked.

“I made a promise with Kuro. After we kill Pri Minister Honest, she will be the one to kill ,” Aka explained. “That’s why she’s willing to cooperate with us now.”

“I see...” Najenda nodded slightly.

As for Aka offering to die at Kuro’s hands, Najenda didn’t comnt. She respected Aka’s decision. They had previously agreed to let Aka handle matters between herself and Kuro, and now it was ti to honor that promise.

“Then... Aka, that ans you’ll...” Mine’s face filled with sorrow.

“I’ve already made up my mind,” Aka said calmly.

“Alright...” Mine didn’t know what else to say.

Understanding the situation, Blayn felt a sense of relief. While this was only a temporary reconciliation, it was still a crucial step forward.

Kuro’s brainwashing would gradually weaken over ti, and by the ti Pri Minister Honest was eliminated, there was a chance it would have faded almost entirely.

“But there’s sothing I need you all to handle next,” Najenda said. “A serial killer has been terrorizing the Imperial Capital, striking only at night. He randomly beheads innocent people on the streets. So far, there are at least twenty to thirty confird victims, but the actual number is likely much higher.”

“Even Imperial guards have been targeted,” she continued. “He’s beco so unhinged that he attacks indiscriminately.”

“That must be ‘Zanku the Beheader.’ I heard he’s a Teigu user,” Lubbock said.

Najenda nodded. “That’s him.”

“Zanku the Beheader...”

Blayn hadn’t been keeping up with the security issues in the Imperial Capital lately, so he wasn’t aware that a serial killer was running rampant. If this had happened while he was in office, he would have led the Imperial Security Forces to take him down long ago.

“Look at you, completely clueless. So official of the Imperial Capital you are,” Mine said, deliberately mocking Blayn.

“Uh... sorry, I don’t know about this either,” Sheele admitted, raising her hand with a blank expression.

“No, no, no, Sheele, you just forgot,” Mine sighed, exasperated.

“Zanku the Beheader was originally the executioner at the Empire’s largest prison,” Najenda explained. “Under Pri Minister Honest’s tyranny, countless innocents were beheaded. After carrying out so many executions day and night, Zanku beca addicted to the act itself...”

She laid out the full details of Zanku the Beheader’s past for Blayn.

“Zanku also stole the Teigu that originally belonged to the prison warden. With such powerful weaponry in his hands, he beca even more reckless, slaughtering people without restraint,” Bulat added.

“When he escaped with the Teigu, the prison warden imdiately ford a squad to hunt him down. But I never expected him to be bold enough to start killing people openly in the streets of the Imperial Capital. Looks like executing prisoners in the prison wasn’t enough for him anymore.”

“This guy is a perfect match for Aka and Kuro to handle. That shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

As Najenda spoke, she turned to Blayn. “Now that Kuro is part of your group, I should check with you first.”

At that mont, Aka and Kuro both looked at Blayn expectantly, clearly hoping for his approval.

“I have no objections. You two just focus on working together,” Blayn said.

He was actually glad to see their relationship improving—if things continued this way, they wouldn’t have to fight to the death.

“Good. Zanku the Beheader should still be lurking in the streets tonight. Because of him, the civilians are too afraid to go out after dark. If Aka and Kuro patrol the streets, he’ll likely see them as targets.”

Najenda continued, “At that point, you’ll take him down.”

“With my sister and working together, failure is impossible,” Kuro said confidently.

“But we can’t be careless. He’s a Teigu user as well,” Aka warned, remaining cautious.

Najenda had complete confidence in them—one was the ace of the Revolutionary Army, the other the ace of the Empire’s Assassination Unit.

Sending both of them after Zanku almost felt like overkill, but better safe than sorry. If they lost a comrade due to underestimating the enemy, it would be too late for regrets.

“Besides that, we have another assassination target—Pri Minister Honest’s distant relative, Iokal.”

Najenda continued, “Using Honest’s influence, he kidnaps won at will, tortures them to death, and has remained untouchable this whole ti.”

“This mission is critical. While Aka and Kuro deal with Zanku the Beheader, the rest of us will focus on eliminating Iokal.”

“Oh, and don’t forget—the rcenaries guarding Iokhar are just as guilty. They’re all assassination targets as well. These aren’t just any hired thugs either; they’re elite fighters from the Imperial Fist Temple. Don’t underestimate them.”

With that, Najenda laid out the next objective.

Then, she turned to Blayn. “The only question now is—are you willing to join us on this mission?”

If Blayn agreed to help, their chances of success would increase significantly.

“No problem,” Blayn nodded. “At the very least, when it cos to purging the Empire’s filth, we’re on the sa side.”

“Great! Then let’s go over the battle plan. Mine will be our primary attacker for assassinating Iokal. She can take him out from a distance with her Teigu, but she’ll need protection—her close-combat skills are lacking.”

Najenda explained, “Apart from Mine and whoever protects her, the rest of us will deal with Iokal’s rcenaries. This is the safest approach.”

No one objected to the plan.

“That just leaves choosing who will guard Mine... How about Blayn?”

Najenda suggested.

She knew that Mine and Blayn didn’t get along, so this could be a good opportunity to improve their relationship. Since they might have to work together long-term, it would be a problem if tensions remained high.
