Although it wasn’t a big deal in itself, the fact that Kuro could stay this calm was simply due to her naturally blank deanor.
"Alright."
Blayn took a small cookie from Kuro’s snack bag. He could imdiately feel her gaze fixated on him, as if she was afraid he’d take the opportunity to steal one for himself.
"Relax, I’m not going to take your cookies."
Saying this, he carefully held the cookie by its edge with his thumb and forefinger, preparing to feed it to her.
Kuro slightly opened her mouth, waiting to be fed.
Blayn made sure to be extra careful, releasing the cookie just before it touched her lips so that it would slide into her mouth on its own.
After all, they had only recently t, so it was better to maintain so sense of distance.
Watching Kuro munch on the cookie with a blank yet content expression, he couldn’t help but feel like he was feeding a pet.
"Want more?"
Blayn asked.
"Two more."
Kuro replied.
By now, their flying Danger Beast had been in the air for a while. It was a smooth ride, with the only issue being the strong winds.
However, Blayn had no fear of "crashing." With "Double Kamui," he had plenty of ways to handle any situation. Taking Kuro along wouldn’t be a problem either.
That was, until an unexpected situation arose.
It wasn’t entirely surprising—since airborne Danger Beasts existed, it was only natural that the sky wasn’t completely safe.
Sure enough, a bird-type Danger Beast appeared ahead.
It resembled a hawk, though it seed to be even faster than their own Class-One mount. Its long, razor-sharp beak and talons looked exceptionally lethal.
"Figures. Can’t expect a completely smooth ride."
Blayn muttered.
"It’s also a Class-One Danger Beast. I can’t fight well in the air, but I can summon Doya to take it down with her dual pistols."
Kuro reached for Yatsufusa.
Doya was one of the corpses controlled by Yatsufusa and the only one with ranged combat abilities.
"No need for that."
Blayn said casually.
The next mont, his left eye sharpened, turning bloodshot as he focused on the Danger Beast’s neck.
Despite its high-speed movent, Blayn’s perception allowed him to predict its trajectory.
Spatial distortion wasn’t truly instantaneous. Even with his enhanced Kamui, it still required a fraction of a second, aning he needed to account for movent.
However, with the Mangekyō Sharingan, such calculations were trivial.
As space twisted violently, the hawk-like Danger Beast suddenly had its neck snapped.
The effect was simple—its neck was transferred into the Kamui dinsion, instantly severing its head from its body. Both halves plumted from the sky.
Most Class-One Danger Beasts lacked exceptional traits like regeneration or extre durability, so his left-eye Kamui was more than enough to take care of it.

"...What just happened?"
Kuro asked, her voice tinged with surprise.
She hadn’t seen Blayn make a move, yet the Danger Beast had dropped dead in an instant.
"Nothing. Just think of it as one of my abilities."
Blayn replied nonchalantly.
The secret of "Double Kamui" couldn’t be exposed so easily.
As long as no one knew how it worked, it was practically invincible.
At the very least, he would never find himself in a truly hopeless situation.
The only drawback—aside from its massive energy consumption—was that Kamui’s intangibility had a ti limit.
A single Mangekyō Sharingan could sustain intangibility for a maximum of five minutes. However, with both eyes awakened, his duration exceeded five minutes—possibly even ten.
He had never tested the upper limit, but when he used it to evade a Special-Class Danger Beast with Esdeath, he was certain it had lasted longer than five minutes.
That said, it wasn’t much of a weakness. As long as no one knew his limits, he could simply deactivate and reactivate intangibility, effectively resetting the tir.
In short, unless his ability was exposed, he was practically untouchable.
"I see... So it must be a Teigu ability, right? Is it your eyes? I’ve never heard of an eye-type Teigu before."
Kuro’s instincts were sharp.
She had always suspected that Commander Blayn’s eyes were unusual.
Her sister, Aka, was born with blood-red eyes, but Blayn’s were clearly different—unnatural, carrying strange patterns within them.
It wasn’t unreasonable to assu they were linked to a Teigu.
After all, Esdeath’s blood-based Teigu, "Demon’s Extract," left a distinctive mark on her chest. If Blayn’s eyes bore a unique symbol, it could very well be his Teigu’s mark.
Blayn remained silent, neither confirming nor denying it.
...
Even with a flying mount, it took them several hours to reach Seiga Cave.
By the ti they arrived, it was nearly dusk.
Now, they would have to continue on foot. A large mount like this would only hinder their movents from here on.
"Wait for us here."
Blayn patted the Danger Beast’s head.
It might not understand his words, but it had been trained well enough to stay put.
"The cave is just ahead. We should go in before nightfall—at least that way, we won’t have to deal with the Danger Beasts outside."
Kuro pointed toward the vast listone terrain before them.
Inside a cave like this, there was no difference between day and night. Without a proper light source, they wouldn’t be able to see a thing.
Of course, Blayn and Kuro had co prepared.
With that, they ventured into Seiga Cave.
The entrance was deserted.
It was no surprise—any place known to house a Super-Class Danger Beast was essentially a death trap. No ordinary person would dare set foot here.
They encountered very few Danger Beasts along the way. The stronger a Danger Beast was, the more territorial it beca, aning most weaker ones instinctively avoided these grounds.
Before long, darkness swallowed the cave.
Blayn and Kuro each took out a "Luminous Pearl"—a special light source crafted from the eyes of a Special-Class Danger Beast.
Unlike ordinary torches or lanterns, these pearls emitted an intense glow and never ran out of power.
As they ventured deeper into what seed like a bottomless abyss, the number of remains increased.
Most were Danger Beast skeletons, but a few were unmistakably human.
Kuro’s grip never left Yatsufusa’s hilt, ready for anything that might co their way.
