The tall and proud figure stood there, radiating an overwhelming presence.

As Esdeath locked eyes with Blayn, her usually cold and commanding expression softened as if centuries of ice had lted away. A rare look of emotion surfaced on her face, and the faint blush on her cheeks made her appear strikingly alluring.

Blayn was caught off guard—he hadn’t expected Esdeath to show up so suddenly.

anwhile, the remaining black-clad assassins, stunned by their comrade’s abrupt demise, froze in place.

When they finally registered Esdeath standing behind Blayn, their faces turned pale.

“General Esdeath?!”

Their shocked voices rang out, unable to comprehend why she was attacking them.

But their outcry only seed to bring Esdeath back to her senses—and hastened their deaths.

She wasted no words. With a sharp stomp of her high boots, jagged ice spikes erupted from the ground, shooting toward the assassins at an alarming speed.

So were too slow to react and were instantly impaled from below, their bodies skewered in an instant. The ones who managed to dodge had no ti to process their anger or confusion—they could only scramble away in panic.

But before they could even catch their breath, Esdeath was already upon them.

The two nearest assassins were instantly frozen solid with a re gesture. Without hesitation, Esdeath summoned a massive ice sphere in midair and sent it crashing down on another assassin, crushing him into a bloody ss.

Only one remained.

He dropped to his knees in despair, his face drained of color. The power gap between them and Esdeath was simply insurmountable.

Yet, more than the fear of death, what haunted him was the question—why was General Esdeath slaughtering them?

“W-Why…?”

“Because he is mine.”

Esdeath’s voice was cold, yet carried an undeniable authority.

The last assassin froze for a mont before suddenly understanding.

At least now, he knew the reason for his death.

The next second, Esdeath delivered a brutal kick to his head, snapping his neck on the spot.

Without sparing a glance at the fallen bodies, she turned and walked straight toward Blayn.

Then, without waiting for his reaction, she wrapped her arms around him.

Esdeath wasn’t much shorter than Blayn. With her natural height of 170 cm and the added lift from her high boots, she was nearly eye level with him, making the embrace effortless.

Blayn was taken aback—Esdeath had simply hugged him out of nowhere.

“I knew it. You wouldn’t die so easily at soone else’s hands.”

Blayn could hear the concern in her voice.

“...Where did you hear that I was dead?” he asked.

“The Pri Minister. He claid that Saikyuu had you executed,” Esdeath replied.

“I see…”

Blayn found it odd.

Saikyuu should have known long ago that he had killed those Teigu Users, Shingu Users, and the accompanying soldiers—so why was Honest still unaware?

At that mont, Esdeath finally released him.

Blayn then noticed sothing unusual—her face was growing redder by the second.

And her smile… how should he even describe it?

For the first ti, he found himself at a loss for words.

“Let’s go.”

Before Blayn could even ask, Esdeath grabbed his hand and started leading him away.

“Where are you taking ?” Blayn asked.

“Do you even need to ask? To my place, of course.”

Esdeath spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

She didn’t bother asking for his opinion—she simply treated him as her romantic partner, as if it were already decided.

“Wait.”

Blayn stopped in his tracks, his tone serious. “I ca here because I need to talk to you.”

Thinking he had sothing important to say, Esdeath patiently listened.

“There’s sothing I need to make clear. About your previous proposal to make your lieutenant—my answer is no. I cannot serve you.”

Blayn decided to be straightforward. “That said, you’ve helped a lot. While I can’t pledge my service to you, I can still repay the favor in any way I can.”

Hearing this, Esdeath smiled.

“I see. So that’s what this is about.” She seed unconcerned. “It’s fine if you don’t want to serve . But since you ntioned repaying the favor...”

She paused for a mont before continuing, “Then I want you to be my lover.”

Blayn blinked. “What?”

Esdeath, however, wasn’t joking.

In her mind, she never believed Blayn actually owed her anything.

After all, he had saved her first, and what she had done in return was simply balancing the scales.

But since he insisted on repaying a debt, she decided to take the opportunity to make her own request.

Her tone wasn’t one of negotiation. It was a statent—a command.

Even if Blayn refused, she fully intended to make him accept, so there was no point in asking.

“Okay...”

Blayn responded instinctively, then imdiately realized what he had just agreed to.

“Wait, hold on—you said lover?”

“Yes.”

Esdeath nodded confidently.

Her sudden confession left Blayn’s mind reeling.

This was too abrupt. The last ti they had t, Esdeath hadn’t been like this at all.

“Give a second—I need to think this through...”

Blayn took a mont to gather his thoughts before cautiously asking, “You an pretending to be lovers, right?”

He figured that was the more logical explanation—maybe Esdeath needed him to play along for so reason.

“No.”

Esdeath imdiately dismissed the idea. “I like you. That’s why I want us to be together. I have no interest in sothing as childish as pretending.”

Her voice was unwavering, her expression filled with certainty. There was no trace of embarrassnt—only a confident smile as she laid her feelings bare.

“...”

Blayn’s mind went blank for a mont.

Then, snapping back to reality, he quickly held up a hand.

“Alright, I get it. But give a mont—I need to process this.”

“Hm.”

Esdeath waited patiently, still smiling.

She was only this understanding when it ca to Blayn.

Anyone else who dared hesitate before obeying her would have long since been thrown into a torture chamber.

Blayn couldn’t believe what was happening.

Esdeath’s confession had been so direct—so forceful—so sudden.

And the way she looked at him... there was no hint of deception. The blush on her face, the joy in her smile—it was all genuine. Her feelings were clear as day.

But there was one major problem...

They were on opposite sides.
