Chapter 369: Chapter 292: Two Thousand Li Lake of Fire_2
The next day, Chen Xing had already packed early, having purchased so relevant items in advance and stored them in his storage ring, while other items were also provided by the Firelight Organization, such as detailed maps around Stone City and Jiu Chi City, internal intelligence of major powers, and more.
Though the Firelight Organization had just been established, the Jin Ye Guard had unilaterally initiated certain privileges, allowing Firelight mbers to access so information through the Jin Ye Guard’s intelligence channels.
He arrived at the Firelight Organization’s branch in Longbei City.
This was a newly constructed building in the suburbs of Longbei City; Firelight had bought the land around it, designating it as public resources for the organization.
From ti to ti, one could see mbers wearing Firelight uniforms walking inside the building.
As this departnt had just been set up, many things were not yet on the right track, requiring extensive handling.
Especially Zhao Guangming, responsible for the clerical aspect of internal affairs, had been extrely busy lately, nearly thinning down significantly.
However, fortunately, he finally had a legitimate reason to go on a business trip.
Zhao Guangming handed over his tasks to several assistants, and while he was still speaking, there ca a knock at the door.
He frowned, “Didn’t I say during work hours…”
The door was pushed open directly, and Chen Xing poked his head through, “Did I disturb you?”
Zhao Guangming bit his lip, “Just a mont, I’ll finish assigning so tasks and then leave. Oh, by the way, your office has been ready for a while, is this your first ti here?”
As he spoke, Zhao Guangming said to an assistant next to him, “Wang Ying, take him to office 402 on the fourth floor.”
Wang Ying seed sowhat surprised, “Okay.”
“Officer, follow .” Wang Ying looked at Chen Xing with a strange expression in her eyes; the fourth floor was the Black-robed Executive Officers’ working area, and regular employees had no access there.
Though the offices on the fourth floor were all prepared, there were very few who regularly worked there. Most Black-robed Executive Officers showed their face and then barely stayed.
It was said that these Black-robed Executive Officers also had other identities, many of whom were just hanging positions temporarily.
Of course, these were things discussed privately among the employees.
Though Firelight was newly established and its rules were not as strict as those of the Jin Ye Guard, its internal regulations were still rigorous.
It was mostly on par with the strictness of the military; many pieces of information were strictly forbidden to be leaked.
Wang Ying led Chen Xing up the stairs next to them to the fourth floor, while so full mbers working on the third floor curiously looked towards the figure following Wang Ying.
Could it possibly be another Black-robed Executive Officer?
He looks quite young, though.
Chen Xing took out a work card from his storage ring and swiped it through a scanner beside him.
The tightly closed door between the third and fourth floors opened automatically.
Wang Ying stood still, waiting for Chen Xing to cross before following him to the fourth floor.
“This is office 402.” Wang Ying led Chen Xing through a corridor, at the end of which a heavy door was closed.
Next to the door was another scanner requiring a card swipe.
After Chen Xing swiped, the door opened, revealing an interior that impressed at first glance; the furniture looked quite expensive.
Chen Xing told Wang Ying, “You can go back down.”
“Yes, officer.” Wang Ying then returned the way she ca.
Entering the office, Chen Xing noticed not only the luxurious decor but also the fully equipped functions.
Gym, movie room, steam room, swimming pool, ga room…
Chen Xing thought of the large hotel he had once stayed in outside the Ze City Secret Realm; its arrangent was even more comprehensive than the hotel’s.
Initially, Chen Xing found it sowhat novel, but after examining everything, he felt sowhat indifferent.
These luxurious anities… were just that.
When he didn’t have them, Chen Xing would fantasize about such things.
But once he actually got them, he felt an indescribable emptiness.
Upon reflection, Chen Xing realized what attracted him the most was the higher realms of the path of Beast Taming.
Thinking this, Chen Xing chuckled; people are like this.
Always craving for what they haven’t owned yet.
Chen Xing felt it might be better to set up a Beast Taming training room, but then considered that for a Beast Tar capable of becoming a Black-robed Executive Officer, their mastery of Beast Taming probably didn’t count as weak even among Transcendence, and spending a large sum to build a training room would be less effective than finding a deserted area outdoors.
Sitting in a large chair in the room, with a tablet nearby, the screen of the tablet lit up automatically as Chen Xing sat down, displaying various options.
He could choose different layouts, and once selected, renovation workers would make the changes.
Options included, but were not limited to, decor styles and furniture choices.
After looking for a while, Chen Xing found it boring; he thought the current decor was just fine.
He took a drink from the fridge next to him and stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
Hmm… there was a factory outside, not much of a view to enjoy.
The phone in his pocket vibrated and he answered the call. Zhao Guangming’s voice ca through, “Hello, hello, everything is taken care of, let’s go.”
He went downstairs and t up with Zhao Guangming on the first floor.
“Let’s go, the others have already arrived. We’ll grab a bite first and then head out,” Zhao Guangming said.
They had discussed the departure details a few days ago.
“How’s the food with Firelight?”
“Not bad, they hired a professional chef, tastes better than the food at ho,” Zhao Guangming comnted, then turned his head to look at Chen Xing, “What’s up? Thinking about staying at this base for the long term?”
“We’ll talk about it when we get back.”
Zhao Guangming laughed, “Set off by all ans, but no jinxing!”
While speaking, Zhao Guangming couldn’t help complaining, “Speaking of which, none of you Black-robed Executive Officers actually do anything! Not just you, many of the Black-robed Executive Officers are temporary, pulled in from other departnts maybe for temporary reasons, all slack off and don’t work; all the workload falls on us White-robed Executive Officers! Do you know how exhausting that is! I, a Super Rank Beast Tar, lost ten pounds!”
“I see, instructor, brilliant as always, shining wherever you are.” Chen Xing gave the instructor a thumbs up.
Zhao Guangming couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
As the two grew more familiar, their conversations had beco much more casual.
After dinner, the two rged with the main troop.
In total, there were forty-two Beast Tars heading to Stone City this ti.
Besides Chen Xing, Zhao Guangming, Ning Yi, and Zhou San, the remaining thirty-eight people were followers sent by their families and backing forces.
Of course, these followers were not mbers of Firelight, so even if they achieved any feats, those could not be recorded as their own accomplishnts but rather credited to those they followed.
This was a sort of unspoken rule for benefit exchange.
Traveling through the Teleportation Array and moving continuously for three days, the forty-two individuals finally regrouped in Stone City of the Fentian Domain.
“This Stone City is bigger than I imagined.”
Ning Yi exclaid as he looked around.
“The environnt here is a bit humid and hot, like a stear,” Chen Xing wiped the sweat off his face. He had only been here a short while and was already sweating profusely.
The sky overhead was scorching hot, and the buildings within the city were all constructed from huge blocks of stone. This was Stone City, located in the northwest of Fentian Domain.
Stone City got its na because many of its buildings were constructed from giant stones.
However, Stone City was most famous not for its stones but for the hot springs outside the city.
Stone City housed the most natural hot springs in Fentian Domain, the sources of which ca from the Lake of Fire, situated close to Stone City and spanning two thousand miles.
From a high altitude, the orange-red Lake of Fire looked like a ruby inlaid on the earth.
These lakes were not connected but varied in size, resembling nurous gems scattered across the plateau.
There were various theories about the origin of the Lake of Fire.
So said it was a naturally ford feature, while others believed it was created from the remnants of a divine battle.
But the Lake of Fire had existed for at least ten thousand years. Its unique natural environnt supported a variety of creatures.
The creatures here not only had the Fire Elent but also possessed many dual Fire and Water Elent beasts. In Fentian Domain, where Fire Elent beasts were predominant, this naturally attracted local Beast Tars.
Also, due to the special geographical environnt of the Lake of Fire, many hot spring resorts around Stone City had beco relaxation spots for adventurers.
As a result, Stone City saw an endless stream of visiting adventurers.
With the push from a large number of adventurers, the city had beco a rare prosperous place in the northwest region.
Zhao Guangming said, “I heard that these changes are all related to the new City Lord of Stone City. It’s said that over a hundred years ago, it was just a poor small city with a population of under thirty thousand. Now it has beco a major city with a permanent population of a million and an active population of two million.”
After recently trying to take over the work for the Longbei City branch of the Ember Organization, Zhao Guangming realized that internal affairs were truly not as easy as he had imagined.
