Although he instinctively complained in his heart about Usuha Izuki's bla-shifting behavior, because Edogawa Conan had been slapped in the face before, just as this thought erged, an ominous premonition arose simultaneously.

Fortunately, he followed Takagi Wataru all the way to et the criminal and Officer Sato, listened to Officer Sato explain the criminal's situation, said goodbye and returned, and no case actually occurred.

Edogawa Conan's anxious heart relaxed.

As expected, he knew there weren't so many coincidences in the world. Although there were indeed quite a few cases around him, it was mainly cases attracting detectives! And there were limits! Basic laws applied!

Seeing them return in one piece without any screaming, Usuha Izuki wasn't surprised—he was just too lazy to move around and had found an excuse.

Having a group of people run off to gawk at police escorting a criminal was too high-profile. A low-key person like him couldn't do such things!

System: [...As long as you're happy.]

After returning, Usuha Izuki casually asked: "What kind of criminal was it?"

Mouri Ran, who spent all her ti around Mouri Kogorou, was very used to being asked such questions and instinctively explained: "Soone selling illegal drugs. He was supposed to be arrested in Tokyo, but he escaped to Kansai..."

"Oh my, Ran's vigilance still isn't strong enough." Usuha Izuki smiled. "You told so easily—what if I were his accomplice?"

Mouri Ran laughed: "Stop joking, Usuha-nii."

Mm, not a single suspicion value given.

Instead, Edogawa Conan couldn't help but look at him with half-closed eyes from the side.

Yesterday Usuha-nii had asked him a similar question too... Did Usuha-nii like scaring people?

How should he put it—it wasn't that he had to suspect Usuha-nii, it was just that with Usuha-nii's personality, it seed entirely possible that he might go do bad things for fun or out of curiosity...

He might even rely on his abilities to satisfy his curiosity or impulses, then clean up all traces of wrongdoing and return to daily life without a single leak.

...That shouldn't happen, right? Usuha-nii was such a grown-up, he should know how to control his impulses and understand what should and shouldn't be done, right?!

Edogawa Conan was inexplicably worried.

Seriously counting, Edogawa Conan hadn't t Usuha Izuki that many tis, but in two of those etings Usuha Izuki had been holding a gun—regardless of what kind of gun it was, that image was too deeply impressive, causing Edogawa Conan to always feel that the image of Usuha Izuki holding a gun wasn't discordant at all...

Probably because the scene at Dr. Agasa's house was too frightening, Edogawa Conan could even easily substitute Usuha Izuki's image into a murder scene.

...Well, he should rein in his imagination. He couldn't start wildly speculating just because Usuha-nii had suddenly asked strange questions yesterday.

Obviously yesterday Usuha-nii was just like an unscrupulous adult asking a child "Am I more important or is the toy in your hand more important?" in a joking manner!

When the shinkansen was approaching Mount Fuji, Edogawa Conan, who was in the sa car as the police and could see what was happening across from them, suddenly noticed a crew mber approaching Takagi Wataru and Sato Miwako with a troubled expression, quietly saying sothing.

Sato Miwako was startled, said a few words to Takagi Wataru, then followed the crew mber with a serious expression.

"Did sothing happen?" Mouri Ran asked in confusion.

Usuha Izuki glanced at Edogawa Conan: "Maybe there's another bomb."

Edogawa Conan: "..."

He rembered—last ti he took the sa shinkansen as Usuha-nii, they encountered a bomb... But could that be blad on him?! It was clearly Gin and Vodka's fault!

Edogawa Conan couldn't sit still at a ti like this and imdiately jumped off his chair, wanting to go see what was happening.

Mouri Ran was quick to grab him: "Where are you going?"

"To go see what happened..."

"No, you stay here and don't wander off." Mouri Ran refused.

Usuha Izuki smiled and said: "It's fine, let him go take a look. There are police there, so just looking should be okay... Look, Uncle Mouri also really wants to know what happened."

"Eh...?" Mouri Ran hesitated, and she was actually a bit curious too, so after struggling for a while, "Then I'll take Conan to have a quick look and co right back... Conan-kun, this ti you absolutely cannot let go of my hand, and you can't run around either, understand?"

Edogawa Conan wasn't asking for much—being able to go look was already good enough. He naturally agreed readily, then impatiently ran off with Mouri Ran to observe.

He observed from a distance and learned that soone had discovered a suspicious package in the restroom that was making suspicious sounds like a tir, and there was even a note pasted outside saying "Contains bomb, do not touch."

Edogawa Conan: "............"

Usuha-nii...! Usuha-nii was such a jinx!

Edogawa Conan stared at that suspicious package and began to feel anxious.

Sato Miwako carefully examined the package and listened to the sounds inside. Since this kind of thing really shouldn't be handled carelessly and it would be best to call an expert, she didn't dare open the package on her own and could only turn to tell the crew mber:

"Prepare to evacuate people. We might need to stop the train..."

Before she could finish speaking, the previously steady ticking sound from the package was suddenly replaced by a piercing alarm sound, and the circle of people around scattered in all directions.

Sato Miwako was also startled, but she quickly realized this was all bark and no bite—several seconds had passed and nothing else happened.

So she hesitated, then risked her life to open the package, only to discover it was just an alarm clock inside.

...Although it was a bit of a farce, no harm done. As a police officer, Sato Miwako wasn't seeing this kind of boring prank package for the first ti.

She turned off the alarm clock and planned to investigate who had been so inconsiderate as to pull this kind of joke.

Discovering the situation wasn't very dangerous, Mouri Ran hesitated, then didn't stop Edogawa Conan from listening in on Sato Miwako's investigation.

Edogawa Conan was already treating this as a case and planning to solve it. Just as he was listening, Takagi Wataru suddenly ran over and said to Sato Miwako in panic: "This is bad! The criminal committed suicide in the restroom!"

Sato Miwako was greatly shocked: "Huh? Where did he get a knife? How were you watching him?!"

Hearing this, Edogawa Conan imdiately realized this alarm clock might be soone's diversionary tactic for so purpose, and quickly followed the police to another car's restroom.

Sure enough, the criminal they had been escorting was already dead inside.

Edogawa Conan quickly observed the scene and reached so conclusions: "It's not suicide, it should be staged. The direction this dagger fell is wrong, and the blood on his body is also strange—this part has already coagulated, but other parts are still flowing..."

Sato Miwako touched her chin: "It is very strange. Did soone add so kind of drug..."

They discussed for a while and reached a rough judgnt: This indeed wasn't suicide, but soone had prepared a dagger and blood packs in the restroom beforehand, having the captured guy pretend to commit suicide. At that ti they happened to be going through a tunnel and Takagi Wataru couldn't get through on his phone, so in his urgency he could only handcuff the person in the restroom and go find Sato Miwako to discuss what to do.

The criminal should have used this ti to enter the restroom and kill the person.

To accomplish all this, there must have been prior communication with the deceased, so Sato Miwako and Takagi Wataru began trying hard to recall who had passed by them and could have signaled the deceased.

Edogawa Conan was also thinking when he suddenly heard Usuha Izuki ask: "What's the situation?"

"Soone died..." As he spoke, Edogawa Conan turned his head and suddenly rembered that during his run over here, he seed to have seen Usuha Izuki had gone sowhere, and as they headed to the restroom, he had just returned to his seat.

Rembering how Usuha Izuki had just asked Mouri Ran about what if he were an accomplice... Edogawa Conan suspected for a mont, then calmly ruled out suspicion and asked directly: "Usuha-nii, where did you go just now?"

Usuha Izuki answered righteously: "I went to the restroom. The one back there and this one both had people using them, so I had to walk further forward. So the criminal being escorted died? How did he die?"

"Murder disguised as suicide." Edogawa Conan said absently.

Usuha Izuki: "Oh, then I know who the culprit is."

Edogawa Conan: "You know... Huh?!"

He whipped around like a sunflower, staring at Usuha Izuki in bewildernt and shock: "You know again?! How do you know this?!"

He didn't even have any leads yet!!! He hadn't even identified suspects!!!

Usuha Izuki smiled shyly: "I saw it."

Edogawa Conan: "............???"
