Cheng Linye couldn’t quite understand Qian Shanshan’s thought processes. How had he managed to insult Qian Shanshan and himself at the sa ti?

Qian Shanshan was the picture of righteous indignation, "You say you’re not interested in Shi Yaoguang with your words, yet everything you do plainly shows you’re siding with her!"

"Do you know what this is called? ’Actions speak louder than words!’"

As she spoke, her eyes reddened with anger, "How could you do this!"

Cheng Linye looked at her with calm, unfathomable eyes, quietly watching her throw a tantrum.

There was no helping it.

He knew that explaining himself to her would be futile.

As for why he didn’t just tell her that Bai Tangyuan was indeed Quan Jinbei’s illegitimate child...

Such secrets were, of course, best kept with as few people knowing as possible.

Besides, Qian Shanshan was already troubling enough knowing nothing.

If she knew, wouldn’t she make a huge fuss?

Although Cheng Linye had no idea what sorts of terrible things Qian Shanshan might do.

He did have foresight.

Now, he was even more grateful that he hadn’t told Qian Shanshan, else his plans would have likely been ruined by her before they even began.

At the thought of this possibility, Cheng Linye was quite pleased with his foresight.

When dealing with Qian Shanshan, who lacked any self-awareness, his attitude naturally soured.

"Miss Qian, when we first agreed to cooperate, I stated my requirents upfront. Since you cannot et them, there’s no need for us to continue working together," he said.

"If you have any complaints about , feel free to vent them."

Cheng Linye said this because he didn’t care about what Qian Shanshan might do.

Even if she intentionally slandered him.

Qian Shanshan understood his aning, and that just made her collapse even more.

Why should this be happening?

She had tried so hard!

Yet Cheng Linye didn’t care about her in the slightest.

This was nothing short of trampling on her dignity.

Fortunately, Cheng Linye was unaware of her thoughts, or else...

They probably wouldn’t be able to "part ways amicably."

The person who had introduced Qian Shanshan to the team opted to side with her after learning that she harbored resentnt towards Cheng Linye for not sticking to the plan.

He had introduced Qian Shanshan to the team initially because he had his own ulterior motives regarding her.

Now that Qian Shanshan was leaving, he hesitated briefly but ultimately chose to stick with his "original intention."

Fortunately, Qian Shanshan knew nothing of this, and even if she did, she wouldn’t care.

In this respect, she and Cheng Linye were quite alike.

Cheng Linye was concerned with his grand future and didn’t give a second thought to Qian Shanshan’s overtures.

Qian Shanshan treated her admirers in much the sa way.

When it ca down to it, it was the pot calling the kettle black, and neither had a right to complain about the other.

Even so, Qian Shanshan still felt so dissatisfaction in her heart.

She felt that after Cheng Linye fell for Shi Yaoguang, he started looking down on others with disdain.

She was determined to have her revenge!

But before she could even co up with a way to get back at him, she was kidnapped first.

"Who are you? Let go!"

Qian Shanshan struggled violently, trying to break free from the kidnapper’s grip.

But her strength was limited, and she had no chance of escaping the clutches of her captor.

Even as she was dragged into an underground room, her defensive efforts proved futile, which greatly frustrated her.

What scared her more, however, was the fear.

She had no idea who had brought her here.

But she knew that being brought here was more likely to be bad than good.

No one would be so childish as to kidnap her just to intimidate her.

Thinking carefully about the people she had recently offended, she arrived at an answer.

"Was it Shi Yaoguang who had you kidnap ?"

Even without any response, she was convinced of her own thoughts.

She imdiately said angrily, "I knew she was up to no good! I’ll never let her get away with it! That damned woman..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a calm and steady set of footsteps was heard at the door.

She instinctively looked up.

Her gaze t Quan Sicheng’s seemingly amused eyes, "Miss Qian, how have you been?"

Upon seeing him, Qian Shanshan instinctively sought rescue: "Fourth Master, have you co to save ? Please, let out—"

Halfway through her plea, she suddenly realized sothing.

Quan Sicheng did not look like he was there to save her, but rather like he was there to pick a fight.

Thinking about it more carefully, that seed to be the true situation.

She imdiately showed fear: "Quan Sicheng, was it you who had kidnapped?"

Quan Sicheng’s lips curved up, "It seems you’re not so foolish as to be beyond help."

Qian Shanshan felt a chill in her heart, but still tried to keep a brave face, unwilling to reveal her inner thoughts, "Fourth Master, please stop joking with . You can really scare soone to death!"

"I am not joking with you," Quan Sicheng’s lips curved up in a smile, "I am seriously contemplating a murder to seal lips."

On hearing this, Qian Shanshan beca even more frightened, "Fourth Master, Fourth Master... please, no more jokes. Have I wronged you in any way? To talk about murder, that’s just too terrifying."

"Haven’t wronged ?"

Quan Sicheng scoffed, "I don’t think so."

"Aren’t you holding sothing over ? Hoping to threaten with it."

He said, his lips twisting into an abnormal smile, "I’ve always hated being threatened. What do you think I will do to you since you’ve threatened ?"

Qian Shanshan could never have anticipated that by thinking she had leverage over Quan Sicheng, she actually pushed herself into hell.

eting Quan Sicheng’s icy gaze, at this mont, she wished she could go back to the day when she was nearly taken away by Jinbei’s people, and let Jinbei’s people take her away rather than boldly using Quan Sicheng’s secret to threaten him.

She had thought Quan Sicheng would be much easier to manipulate than Jinbei.

But never had she expected Quan Sicheng to be the truly frightening one.

Quan Sicheng did not care what Qian Shanshan was thinking; his smile grew more and more grotesque, "Are you scared now, feeling regret? Thinking you shouldn’t have threatened ?"

Indeed.

Qian Shanshan looked at him with hopeful eyes, wishing he would let her go.

Unfortunately.

Quan Sicheng had no plans to release her and instead took sadistic pleasure in her fear.

"Weren’t you very bold? How co... you have the courage to threaten , but not the courage to face my retaliation?"

Qian Shanshan gritted her teeth, "Fourth Master, since I dared to threaten you, that ans I have evidence! Aren’t you afraid I’ll bring it out and let everyone know what you’ve done?"

"Oh?" Quan Sicheng feigned curiosity, "Then please tell , what have I done?"

"You killed your own father!" Qian Shanshan stared at him, "If others find out, can you continue to live so loftily? Just let go, and I’ll help you keep this secret forever!"
