"It was the day you sent those photos,"

Shi Yaoguang said, taking out her phone to pull up the transaction record.

Quan Sicheng leaned over and took a glance. Indeed, in the early hours of that day, Shi Yaoguang had transferred one million to an account.

The account that received the funds was Shi Yiqing’s.

Seeing this, Shi Yiqing’s pupils shuddered as she vehently denied, "You’re talking nonsense! I never received any money from you!"

"Sister, how could you do this?"

Shi Yaoguang looked at her, deeply hurt. "It was you who told you were a bit strapped for cash recently. That’s why I thought of transferring money to you. How could you suddenly deny it? Could it be..."

She glanced at Quan Sicheng. "Could it be that he threatened you?"

Shi Yiqing shook her head forcefully: "Not at all! Stop making things up!"

"What in the world is going on?"

Quan Sicheng looked at Shi Yiqing, his eyes brimming with suspicion.

Under his gaze, Shi Yiqing’s psychological defenses instantly crumbled.

She looked at Quan Sicheng incredulously, her voice tinged with a sob.

"Brother Sicheng, what do you an by looking at like that? Don’t you believe ?"

Quan Sicheng had a stern face, his tone cold, "I don’t disbelieve you, but... you explain it yourself. What exactly is going on?"

Shi Yiqing imdiately wore a look of aggrieved sadness and despair: "Since even Brother Sicheng doesn’t believe , what’s the point of my explaining?"

Shi Yaoguang: "Of course, there’s a point."

Shi Yiqing glared at her with disgust.

By now, she no longer had the energy to continue the charade of sisterly love with Shi Yaoguang.

If she had known things would turn out this way, she should have dealt with Shi Yaoguang the mont she returned.

That way, things wouldn’t have escalated to this point.

Shi Yaoguang, as if oblivious to her distaste, maintained the caring big sister deanor, "Sister, life isn’t just about n. You can’t place all your hopes on a worthless man."

The so-called worthless man, Quan Sicheng: "..."

Why resort to personal attacks when having a discussion?

But Shi Yaoguang didn’t pay him any heed.

She continued to advise Shi Yiqing, "Sister, even if there’s only one person in the world willing to believe you, you need to prove your innocence to them. Besides, you are still the school’s belle. If the classmates who admire you find out you’ve lied, they’d definitely be disappointed."

"So what?" Shi Yiqing didn’t believe for a second that Shi Yaoguang had her best interests at heart.

Indeed, Shi Yaoguang wasn’t genuinely concerned.

But proof was necessary.

She extended her hand, as if by magic, and swiftly pulled out Shi Yiqing’s phone from her pocket.

The screen faced Shi Yiqing.

Face ID unlocked it.

A few seconds later, she opened a mobile banking app.

"Sister, see? Isn’t this the one million I sent you?"

Her actions were too quick for Shi Yiqing to even attempt to stop her.

Shi Yiqing’s face turned pale at the sight of the banking page.

What Shi Yaoguang had said was completely made up.

She had never sent herself that money. Where on earth did it co from?

Looking at her puzzled expression, Shi Yaoguang offered a half-hearted defense.

"Maybe the money I gave was too little; that’s why you didn’t notice. It’s my fault, I’ve been too stingy."

As she spoke, she even bowed her head in self-reproach, "It’s my uselessness. I’ve grown up and only managed to save a little over a million. I still have to cover my own expenses, so I could only give you one million. I’ve truly failed as a sister."

An Siqi, who hadn’t earned a million in half her lifeti: "..."

She had every reason to suspect this was a personal attack.

Shi Yaoguang’s self-reproaching words sounded to Shi Yiqing as nothing but false kindness, and even that seed absent.

It was outright character assassination.

"Don’t you..."

She barely started when she was brusquely interrupted by Cheng Lingdang.

"Hey, a million has been spent!"

Shi Yiqing’s heart skipped a beat.

It suddenly occurred to her that she had moved nearly a million to bail An Siqi out of the detention center.

To so people, that million was a lifeti goal.

To her, it was rely pocket change.

Who would fuss over how their pocket change was spent?

As a result, when she had soone help another person, she directly swiped her card, without paying any attention to which account the money was transferred from.

Soon, the uneasy premonition in her heart proved correct.

"Shi Yiqing, didn’t you say you didn’t take my brother Shi’s money? What about the money you spent yesterday?"

"And..." Cheng Lingdang looked suspiciously at the account Yiqing had transferred money from, "If I rember correctly, this is an account belonging to a certain deputy bureau, right? What did you transfer money to him for?"

Shi Yiqing glowered at her resentfully, "What’s it to you?"

"No kidding, if I don’t care about you, who will?"

Shi Yiqing was shocked by her matter-of-factness: "Why should you care about ?"

Cheng Lingdang pursed her lips, "Do you think I want to care about you? If it weren’t for the fear that you’re up to no good, wanting to harm my Brother Sicheng, I couldn’t care less about you."

An Siqi had a sudden mont of clarity, "Is there a problem with this account?"

"Yes, there is."

Cheng Lingdang carefully explained that this account belonged to a certain deputy bureau, and that person was always involved in so shady business.

In short, as long as it wasn’t a severe legal transgression, he could get things done with money.

"My family specifically warned never to have any contact with such people," Cheng Lingdang emphasized, before asking Shi Yiqing, "Tell , were you contacting him in hopes of having him do sothing to my Brother Sicheng?"

"No!"

"Then what were you looking for him for?"

"My private affair, how is it any of your business?"

Shi Yiqing still didn’t want to say.

Cheng Lingdang shrugged, "Fine, don’t say."

Shi Yiqing breathed a sigh of relief, only to hear her add with a heavy breath, "It’s actually a good timing because I’ve heard there’s a crackdown going on upstairs. If you don’t say anything, you’ll just be labeled as being in cahoots with him."

Shi Yiqing: "..."

She felt so stifled, unable to breathe out or in, it was very uncomfortable.

An Siqi didn’t know who that deputy was, but she knew it was best not to get involved in these ssy matters.

Just as she was about to sneak away, she caught Shi Yaoguang’s eye.

Shi Yaoguang looked at her with a very gentle tone, "Siqi, weren’t you sentenced? Who helped you out?"

It was a redundant question.

"Siqi, you and Qingqing have suddenly beco so close. Could it be... that Qingqing helped you out?"

An Siqi still remained silent.

"Siqi, are you even unwilling to speak to now? Am I not even considered a friend in your eyes?"

An Siqi wanted to reply with sothing defiant, Yes!

But she didn’t dare.

Who knew if Shi Yaoguang might suddenly go crazy and latch onto her?

Even so, Shi Yaoguang didn’t let her off easily.

She simply asked, "Siqi, the affair in the archives, that was your doing, right?"
