The school was bustling with excitent, a true mark of an elite institution.
At that mont, An Nannan led them proudly to her classroom, chest puffed out.
Even the middle school library was impressive, and the classrooms were bright and spacious, featuring multifunctional blackboards, air conditioning, and all sorts of laboratories were readily available. There were even elevators in the teaching buildings for use.
Xu Musen clicked his tongue. Sotis, he couldn't help but admit that most people were desperate to move to the big cities, not just to earn more money, but also because educational resources like these were of paramount importance.
Xu Musen still rembered his own middle school days. Although it was a decent school, part of the playground was just dirt, the blackboards were old-fashioned, and the classrooms had but two large fans that squeaked and rattled all sumr long, as if they might fall at any mont and slice through soone's head.
Not to ntion things like elevators and extracurricular clubs.
To tell the truth, Xu Musen had never visited the so-called youth centers. As a child, he found them mysterious, but later, he simply didn't care.
But back then, he was quite envious. After all, the kids in the big cities probably grew up near youth centers, and their schools would sotis even arrange for them to study abroad...
Comparing oneself with others is sure to make one feel inferior.
Xu Musen shook his head, not wanting to dwell on these matters any longer. As an ordinary citizen, he couldn't change much—living his life well was enough.
They arrived at An Nannan's classroom door.
Quite a few parents had already shown up.
"Nannan, wow, is this your sister? She's so beautiful!!"
A few little girls saw An Nannan and happily crowded around her.
Especially when they saw An Nuannuan. Even though she was dressed maturely today, her natural warmth made the little girls feel an instant affinity toward her.
"Hmph, of course, I've told you before—my sister is the most beautiful sister in the world!"
An Nannan boasted about her sister with a proud face.
"Hi there, you girls be sure to keep being good friends with Nannan, okay?"
An Nuannuan was prepared, pulling out so chocolate candies from her little bag to hand out to the girls.
"Hehe, thank you, big sister!"
The little girls were delighted as they spoke.
Xu Musen stood by the door, watching this harmonious scene and felt that Nuannuan had indeed been becoming more adult-like recently.
He couldn't take credit for this, and it was noticeable that Nuannuan really liked children.
Thinking about their own children in the future, and imagining Nuannuan affectionately holding the child every day, Xu Musen felt quite looking forward to it.
"Eh? Who is this big brother...?"
The little girls also noticed the handso brother at the door, who looked like he had stepped out of a comic book, watching them with a touch of indulgent smile.
Middle schoolers are just beginning to awaken to the concept of the opposite sex, and in this era where Mary Sue comics reign supre, little girls are especially fascinated by more mature brother types.
The girls' eyes sparkled as they looked at Xu Musen.
An Nannan snorted.
"He, well, he's... he's my sister's boyfriend..."
"Uwah! So he's the handso brother-in-law you always talk about! We thought you were boasting, but your brother is really handso!"
A girl with braids suddenly realized and exclaid, making An Nannan's face turn red. Imdiately, she rushed over to cover the girl's mouth: "Who, who keeps talking about him..."
"Heehee, Nannan always says her brother-in-law is even handsor than the guys in the comics. We thought she was exaggerating, but brother really is so handso!"
"Hehe, no wonder Nannan looks down on the boys in school; her tastes have been raised too high."
The other two girls were very outgoing, looking Musen over from head to toe.
Xu Musen felt a bit embarrassed by the complints: "It's not that I'm handso; it's that you have good taste. You all are very pretty too."
"Aww, you're all surrounded; the teacher is going to talk about important things soon."
An Nannan bounced over, her face blushing, worried her friends would say sothing else, and quickly pushed the three of them away.
"Aww, Nannan's really possessive."
"Heehee, Nannan must be jealous..."
An Nannan dragged them to the side before running back and glaring at Xu Musen: "You, you can just wait in the hallway later. I only want my sister by my side!"
Xu Musen smiled and patted the little girl's head, his gaze turning to An Nuannuan: "Will you be okay by yourself?"
"Yeah, it's no problem."
An Nuannuan gave him a reassuring smile.
"Alright, then I'll wait for you in the hallway."
Xu Musen smiled and nodded. After all, it was usually enough for just one parent to attend the parent-teacher eting.
The parent-teacher eting started.
Xu Musen leaned against the hallway, occasionally glancing into the classroom. The format of parent-teacher etings was pretty standard.
Praise the good students, and let the parents speak.
An Nannan said she hadn't done well in the exams, yet she still ranked within the top five of her class in total score.
She had slipped from first to fifth place.
It was a bit like showing off.
Especially at such a prestigious elite school, where every student was like a little genius, her achievent was comndable.
But clearly, An Nannan, being a competitive girl, was having a hard ti accepting the drop in her ranking.
"Hey there, young man, are you here for the parent-teacher conference for your kid?"
