David City, inside a beverage shop on the third floor.
Xu Musen and Zhu Yulan sat opposite each other.
Zhu Yulan took a sip of coffee, her eyes flashing with a slightly complex expression as she looked at Xu Musen.
She still hadn't expected to run into him looking so embarrassed.
This guy would surely keep mocking her about this incident in the future...
"I an, I am your creditor now, is there any need to grit your teeth at ?" Xu Musen said with a smile.
"Who's keen on borrowing your money? It's just that... my funds are temporarily tied up, that's all."
"Okay then, give back the check."
"Why should I return money that I borrowed fair and square?"
Zhu Yulan imdiately guarded her purse that contained the check, looking quite indignant.
Xu Musen diverted the conversation with a laugh: "We haven't seen each other for a short while; did sothing happen to your company?"
Zhu Yulan was a wealthy woman who used to drive a Ferrari for her daily commutes, at one point offering Xu Musen a hefty sum of over a hundred thousand without even batting an eyelid to persuade him to drop out of a school sponsorship event.
Yet now, she was selling off her personal belongings over a few tens of thousands, indicating that sothing significant must have happened.
"What could be wrong with ? I'm simply planning to open more branches recently, and the cash flow has been a bit tight, that's all. Once I start making money, your little amount will be nothing to ."
Zhu Yulan slanted her eyes to the left and still managed to look proud, even bringing out her Huhai accent.
Seeing that, Xu Musen picked up two pieces of lting dark chocolate, intending to drop them into her cup.
"What are you doing?"
"Adding so dark chocolate for you."
"Are you trying to kill with bitterness?"
"Yo, so Boss Zhu's delicate mouth can actually taste bitterness, eh? I thought it was as tough as a block of iron," Xu Musen laughed heartily.
Zhu Yulan's almond eyes widened, and her delicate cheeks flushed with mock indignation: "Mind your own business! Don't kick while I'm down..."
"I'm not kicking you while you're down; I am offering tily help. Everyone runs into trouble at tis, isn't that when a friend should step in to lend a hand?"
Xu Musen also took a sip of coffee, his smile brimming with warmth.
Zhu Yulan gently turned her coffee cup in her hands, looking at Xu Musen: "Friends...If one day I really beca penniless, would you still be my friend?"
Zhu Yulan's circle of so-called "friends" was not small; being born into such a prominent family, she naturally knew many people.
She was familiar with almost half of the wealthy young n and won in Huhai. Due to family face, she would sotis join them for tea parties and similar gatherings.
They would call each other brothers and sisters, but when trouble arose, they each distanced themselves from her.
Yet Xu Musen, the one always scheming against her, was the first to offer help proactively.
Hearing her question, Xu Musen spoke with a hint of sigh.
"Actually, when I make friends with soone, I don't care if they have money or not, because in the end, they surely won't be as rich as ."
Xu Musen put down his coffee cup with a faux sorrowful look: "Classmate Zhu, I don't have many friends. If I inadvertently beco the richest man in the world one day, I hope you won't feel inferior or distant from ."
Zhu Yulan stared at him for a long ti, unable to help but spit out the coffee in her mouth.
"Xu Musen, you really are... shaless."
Watching his feigned worry, Zhu Yulan couldn't help but want to laugh. How could anyone be so self-absorbed?
However, his words did lighten her mood considerably.
"Dreams are necessary; who knows, they might co true one day."
Xu Musen passed her a wet wipe.
Zhu Yulan took it and wiped her mouth, looking at Xu Musen's mischievous expression: "Did you deliberately try to cheer up?"
"Smart," he said with a smile, snapping his fingers.
Looking at his grin, which was cheeky but also warming, she suddenly understood why so strictly raised wealthy girls found themselves easily attracted to the so-called "ruffians" described by their parents.
Perhaps after seeing too much hypocrisy and feigned elegance, they found sincerity coupled with so cheekiness quite refreshing.
Zhu Yulan felt her heartbeat skip half a beat, but then her gaze drifted away in a daze.
Really, what was she thinking all of a sudden? He had a girlfriend...and there was also a childhood friend who was relentlessly pursuing him.
Her cheeks couldn't help but redden, yet this flush made her feel rather inexplicably frustrated.
"Full of sweet-talk, just a playboy..."
Xu Musen was used to being baselessly called a playboy. He laughed: "Now, can you tell what exactly happened?"
Zhu Yulan paused slightly, cupping her coffee mug, and finally spoke softly: "That guy from last ti, do you rember him?"
"Is it that Mr. Huang, your childhood... cough cough, neighbor?"
Xu Musen said, but noticing Zhu Yulan's change in expression, he quickly changed his tone.
Really, isn't the term childhood friend supposed to be a beautiful expression?
Why would anyone hold a grudge against their own childhood friend, seriously.
Zhu Yulan ground her teeth in anger at the ntion of him: "That scum! Ever since he visited my house earlier this year, my family has been pushing to interact with him. But every ti I see him, it annoys . I refused, so they cut off my cards and even transferred the companies under my na to my second sister..."
