What’s going on inside An Yueqian’s head?

An Yueqian sighed, "Yeah, but I always feel that the master is very accommodating to you."

Qin Yun felt the sa way.

But it’s hard to say; it’s better to et the master.

The two had just set off when Pei Yan’s call ca.

Pei Yan asked urgently, "Where did you go?"

He ca back after finishing his errands only to find Qin Yun gone, searched everywhere but couldn’t find her.

Qin Yun coughed twice and said, "I went out with Sister Yueqian, I’ll be back later."

Before leaving, Qin Yun didn’t tell Pei Yan because if she did, he’d surely want to co along, but she intended to ask questions she couldn’t ask in front of Pei Yan; breaking the rules would cost points.

"Where are you going? You can tell , I’ll go with you." Pei Yan’s voice carried obvious resentnt, noticeable even over the phone.

Pei Yan’s voice was loud enough for An Yueqian to hear, who shook her head disapprovingly.

"Ahem, I’ll be back soon, I’ll bring you a gift."

Qin Yun quickly hung up after saying that.

An Yueqian mocked, "Why does it feel like we’re off to have an affair?"

Qin Yun nodded in agreent, "I feel the sa way."

An Yueqian burst out laughing.

After more than an hour’s drive, they reached White Cloud Mountain. There’s a parking lot at the foot of the mountain; climbing up takes over half an hour, a path no one had ever bypassed.

But today, the reception at the foot told An Yueqian she could drive up the mountain.

Surprised, An Yueqian kept sizing up Qin Yun on the way, "Hey, Little Yunyun, did you secretly do sothing behind our backs? Why’s this master so tolerant of you?"

Qin Yun thought for a mont, tilted her head, and said, "Maybe because I’m pregnant."

An Yueqian looked at Qin Yun suspiciously, "I always feel that the master sees you as special."

"Haha, just an illusion."

Qin Yun laughed it off as they climbed the mountain.

White Cloud Mountain hosts Treasure Temple, where Master Wuwei, a legendary living Buddha resides; his blessings co true, and the incense burns strong.

His peace charms are hard to get.

So travel from afar just to offer incense and make a wish, even if they can’t et the master.

Qin Yun envied, "Is it really this mystical?"

She’d never enjoyed such treatnt, suddenly envying the Bodhisattvas worshipped in the temple.

Because they sit idle while offerings are brought to them, revered by thousands.

"Don’t you feel a sense of solemnity upon entering?" An Yueqian pulled Qin Yun along, guided by a novice monk as they walked step by step into the temple.

"A bit."

Qin Yun nodded but thought to herself, that’s nothing; the Heavenly Court is far more majestic.

The novice monk remarked, "Lady pilgrim, the master has been awaiting you for so ti."

The master’s abode, a seemingly ordinary but clean small courtyard.

A warm stone path winds inward, with a small pond on the left filled with lotuses and fish, while the right hosts a tall Bodhi Tree.

"Thank you, young master."

They thanked him and walked directly inside.

The door was open; inside was a monk in a white robe facing them.

The monk had white eyebrows and eyes full of kindness, not smiling yet emanating benevolence.

"Young pilgrims, co sit."

He poured tea as Qin Yun and An Yueqian sat down, with premium green tea placed before them.

An Yueqian courteously thanked him, "Thank you, master."

anwhile, Qin Yun tapped her fingers on the table, with Master Wuwei putting his hands together in a ceremonial gesture, "You ca to seek my counsel, is there a confusion you wish to resolve?"

Wuwei’s voice, though hearty, radiated compassion and was easy to approach.

Directing his question at Qin Yun, his tone lacked curiosity—more a prompt for Qin Yun to voice her concern.

"Indeed, I’d like you to examine sothing and tell what material it’s made of."

Qin Yun produced her jade pendant, handing it to Wuwei.

Receiving it with both hands, Wuwei’s eyes quivered slightly.

"This isn’t jade." Wuwei unexpectedly laughed, his face folding, "It’s the bone of an Ancient Divine Beast, a Pixiu."

Qin Yun’s teacup spilled, drenching her but she paid no heed, rather wrinkling her brow, "You said it’s Pixiu bone?"

Pixiu bone? Pei Yan’s?

Little A said it originally belonged to her, but she had no recollection.

She surely forgot sothing crucial.

"Yes, it’s the bone of a Pixiu, specifically the tailbone."

The Pixiu’s tail is its most cherished part, considered private.

Sculpting a jade pendant from tailbone to gift soone signifies profound aning beyond imagination.

"Yunyun, what’s wrong?"

An Yueqian hurried to wipe the spills off Qin Yun, unable to comprehend the conversation between her and the master.

She worried the hot tea might have scalded Qin Yun.

"I’m fine."

Qin Yun quickly composed herself, her long lashes veiling her emotions, while the master glanced away.

Concern in her eyes, An Yueqian asked, "Really okay?"

She’d never seen Qin Yun like this.

Even Qin Yun herself had never appeared this way; An Yueqian sensed a deep sadness in her.

"Pilgrim, sotis forgetting isn’t a bad thing; focus on your life now."

Once again, Wuwei’s voice resonated.

Qin Yun moved, nodding slowly, forcing a smile, "I understand, master."

She stopped An Yueqian’s hand from continuing to wipe and, pulling An Yueqian up, said, "Thank you, it’s ti for us to leave."

"Take care."

They left the courtyard, slowly walking out.

An Yueqian held onto Qin Yun’s hand, asking nothing, simply leading her back to the car, driving ho.

The atmosphere in the car was sowhat silent.

In a muted voice, Qin Yun told An Yueqian, "I’m alright."

An Yueqian didn’t believe Qin Yun’s words, frowning she said, "Rest, sleep a bit, I’ll wake you when we arrive."

She drove slower than they had co, Qin Yun closed her eyes in exhaustion, soon falling asleep.

She dreamt a very long dream.

In the dream, she followed an older brother, walked with him for a very long distance, he was injured, his back covered in blood but never turned back.

Holding her hand, he kept walking and walking.

The path seed endless, no matter how far they went.

The elder brother couldn’t hold on, collapsed to the ground, transforming into a Pixiu.

Pressed under the Pixiu, she struggled to climb out but couldn’t.
