After all, she felt that in this day and age, being a bit thrifty was still a good thing. Clothes and such could still be worn if nded!
However, Chen Bajin seriously doubted that the clothes in Gu Fuqiao’s hands could still be worn. Even if nded, they wouldn’t look good.
"Ah Jiao, your clothes have so many holes in them already. And you have so many clothes, why not just forget about nding them?" Chen Bajin said gently to Gu Fuqiao.
Gu Fuqiao awkwardly smiled and continued to stuff the clothes behind her, saying, "I’ll nd them to use as pajamas. Besides, we should still uphold the virtues of thriftiness, right?"
"Hmm, that’s true, it’s fine for sleeping in at night." Chen Bajin chuckled and said, "Oh, and I forgot to tell you, the magazine contacted . My little poem got published, and they sent a five yuan paynt. My Brother Jian Country was nearly bursting with joy!"
"Congratulations! Did they also send the manuscript?" Gu Fuqiao genuinely felt happy for Chen Bajin upon hearing this.
Chen Bajin nodded and said he brought it, and after a bit of a chat, he left.
In the past, if Gu Fuqiao was bored at ho alone, she would definitely chat more with Chen Bajin about all sorts of things. But today, Gu Fuqiao wanted to make these pajamas, so after Chen Bajin left, she imdiately brought out the clothes again and cut them ticulously.
Gu Fuqiao rembered once seeing various pretty pajamas in a Taobao recomndation, so she made one based on appearance.
But as ti passed, Yan Zhen Guo still hadn’t returned. In this sumr heat, although the quilt was a thin one that Gu Fuqiao had specially made, it was still unbearable in such hot weather!
Gu Fuqiao was unbearably hot, and as she turned on the fan, she kicked off the quilt.
Luckily, the fan was strong, and before long it cooled down. Just as she was considering whether to change clothes first or make so food, soone knocked on the door outside.
"Knock, knock, knock." The sound was rhythmic.
Gu Fuqiao rembered that Yan Zhen Guo always took the keys when he went out, and Chen Bajin didn’t knock with such rhythm. Could it be soone was looking for her? So she imdiately took off the clothes she was wearing, put on a skirt, tidied herself up, and quickly went out.
When she opened the door, she found Cheng Zhang standing there.
Upon seeing Gu Fuqiao, Cheng Zhang nodded and said, "Sister-in-law, the Yan Camp Commander asked to let you know that he had so business at another military district, so he might not co back in the next couple of days."
"Alright, got it," Gu Fuqiao nodded twice.
After Cheng Zhang left, Gu Fuqiao closed the door and walked back inside the house. She sighed when she saw the pajamas she had taken off and thrown onto the bed.
She had painstakingly worked all afternoon today, not realizing it’d be of no use at all. She couldn’t show it off to Zhen Guo!
"Oh well, I’ll wait until he cos back," Gu Fuqiao smiled slightly, bent down, and picked up the clothes, preparing to tuck them into the wardrobe.
But upon opening the wardrobe, she accidentally closed the door of the upper cabinet and bent down to open the lower one. Speaking of which, she had never opened the lower cabinet before. As soon as she opened it, she saw a photo album neatly placed inside.
"A photo album... could there be photos of Yan Zhen Guo from before?" Gu Fuqiao thought of Yan Zhen Guo’s serious appearance and couldn’t help but wonder what he was like as a kid. Would he have been like any other kid, with a runny nose, when Mr. Yan Senior disciplined him?
But any amusing scenario ceased to make sense to Gu Fuqiao when faced with Yan Zhen Guo’s stoic, serious deanor.
Recklessly, she stuffed the clothes into the small cabinet while taking out the photo album.
The album did indeed have photos of Yan Zhen Guo in it, showing him in military and training settings. Continuing to flip through it, she found family photos, but not a single one with Mr. Yan Senior. Most of them were with a beautiful-looking middle-aged woman.
If her guess was correct, this should be her mother-in-law, Yan Zhen Guo’s mother.
In these pictures, although Yan Zhen Guo looked seven or eight years younger, that aloof and serious look had never changed. Gu Fuqiao really began to suspect that Yan Zhen Guo had been born with that cold as ice face.
She continued flipping through and finally reached two photos of Yan Zhen Guo when he was around seventeen or eighteen. Back then, there was a hint of a smile on his face. To be honest, Yan Zhen Guo already was quite good-looking, and with a smile, he looked even better.
Gu Fuqiao touched the image of Yan Zhen Guo on the photo, feeling sowhat confused. He seed quite happy in the past. How did he beco increasingly serious and more of an old cadre later on...
She kept flipping further until she suddenly saw a picture where a fifteen-year-old girl stood behind Yan Zhen Guo, timidly standing behind him and tightly gripping the corner of his clothing.
