Chapter 350: Space Stop

The situation on the other side wasn't optimistic. Hao Lan never expected these two NPCs to suddenly transform like this.

Not only that, countless vines suddenly erupted from the ground, attempting to grab their ankles.

"What's going on?"

Startled, he imdiately pulled Huang Ya aside onto open ground and unleashed his skills to burn the vines on the spot.

But those things seed to possess regenerative abilities—after the top layers turned to ash, the remaining sections rapidly regrew and spread, wriggling relentlessly toward them.

The two NPCs in the distance staggered forward before abruptly freezing mid-step.

In the next instant, they let out guttural roars as their shoulder blades split open, violently extending two thick vines.

The once-living man and woman had now beco desiccated husks fluttering emptily in the wind, presenting an utterly grotesque sight.

Compared to the ground vines, these newly erged tendrils moved with alarming agility and thickness, almost as if possessing sentience as they scuttled rapidly across the earth, hissing toward their targets.

The human-disguised monsters had now fully revealed their true forms.

Huang Ya and Hao Lan stood frozen in shock. When they finally reacted, Hao Lan imdiately activated his skills, but the creatures had grown cunning—they simply used their human husks as shields.

The air filled with a spine-chilling sizzling sound as the acrid stench of burning flesh instantly perated the area.

Amid the blazing flas, an erald-green vine suddenly whipped high into the air, poised to smash down upon them.

"Look out!!" Hao Lan shouted, shoving Huang Ya aside.

Huang Ya hit the ground with a pained grunt, tears streaming from smoke-irritated eyes as she coughed violently. Covering her nose, she barely managed to open one eye: "Hao Lan!? Are you okay?!"

Hao Lan glanced at his scraped arm and yelled back: "Fine! Watch the vines!"

No sooner had he spoken than the erald tendril ca whipping back, while ground vines simultaneously coiled around their ankles.

Huang Ya's face paled as she desperately grabbed at the vines, but the seemingly delicate stems possessed unexpected strength—with one forceful tug, she was yanked backward several ters.

Her exposed skin scraped against rough gravel, sending waves of searing pain through her body. She gasped sharply: "Tsk—"

Where did these things even co from!?

Nearby, Hao Lan remained locked in struggle with the vines. Spotting Huang Ya's predicant, he imdiately turned to assist her.

But this montary distraction allowed vines to coil around his calf, constricting like venomous snakes.

Seeing this, Huang Ya ignored her own pain. Steadying her breathing, she pressed a palm against the ground, her expression darkening as she murmured slowly:

"Space Stop."

The instant the words left her lips, the surrounding air froze into stillness—even the nearby vines halted mid-motion.

The creature charging toward Huang Ya stopped dead upon entering the affected zone.

Observing this, Bo Jingmo's expression turned contemplative.

His fingers twitched slightly, releasing a wisp of black energy toward Huang Ya. As expected, the dark mist froze upon entering the suspended space.

An extraordinarily formidable skill indeed.

Huang Ya, focused on freeing her legs, never noticed the dark energy. Though the effect lasted re minutes, her face had already drained of color, her body swaying unsteadily from apparent energy depletion.

Breaking free, she imdiately rushed toward Hao Lan, only to be stopped by his shout: "Don't co! Run first! I can handle this!"

Hao Lan knew her assistance wouldn't help his situation—better she escape while possible.

Just as Huang Ya hesitated, a dark streak shot from the mist. Before they could react, the thick vines were severed, the fallen segnts still squirming like octopus tentacles.

From the dark fog erged a tall, slender figure. In the twilight glow, the man's sharply defined features appeared ink-dark—high nose bridge, pronounced brow ridge, half his face shadowed. His elegant fingers held a golden mask edged with delicate filigree that caught the light.

Hao Lan scrambled up in shock: "Bo Jingmo?"

The man rely glanced at them before gathering dense black energy in his palm, enveloping the vines.

With a thunderous crash, the thick tendrils were pulverized into fibrous fragnts.

Clutching her arm, Huang Ya exchanged bewildered looks with Hao Lan.

Was the referee... helping them?

Having dealt with the vines, the man withdrew his hand, his gaze sweeping across their faces: "You'll follow now."

"Where to?"

"Clearance."

......

anwhile, deep within the forest, a woman's furious shriek echoed from a dense tree canopy.

"Bo Jingmo!! You actually saved those two!!"

Feeling two more of her dispatched vines perish, the yao ghost nearly stead with rage from the treetops. Number 11 had been destroyed by that woman, and now Bo Jingmo had killed two more of her 'children'!!

She'd planned to capture those two guests for nourishnt while rebuilding Number 11's body.

Now everything was ruined!

Gazing at the motionless man beside her, the yao ghost ached with distress.

The heart—the heart must remain unhard!

It extended vines, attempting to tear open the man's ravaged body.

But just as it began, a voice suddenly sounded below:

"Vines coiled around the trunk—this must be the tree, right?"

The yao ghost paused, looking down to see a man and woman standing beneath the tree.

Narrowing its eyes, it suddenly emitted a scornful chuckle.

Perfect timing.

Jiang Xi and Hou Liang approached the vine-wrapped tree, her brow furrowing as she studied the tendrils.

There was sothing familiar about these vines—had she seen them before?

Her thoughts were interrupted by Hou Liang's stamring voice:

"So, Xi Xi..."

The young man's face flushed crimson with nervousness as he awkwardly scratched his head. "Is completing the mission really about... doing it here? D-do we really have to kiss?"

Jiang Xi hesitated. Was this truly how the mission should be completed?

But trying probably couldn't hurt... right?

Lowering her hands, she t the boy's bright eyes, her own cheeks unavoidably coloring as she lightly pursed her lips.

"Then... let's try."
