The bus ca to a stop at the school gates, and everyone disembarked. The mont they laid eyes on the school before them, they couldn't help but feel a sense of awe.

"No wonder Holy Wings High School was so prestigious back in the day."

The school’s grand naplate still hung high above the entrance, the words Holy Wings High School shimring under the setting sun, faintly reflecting golden light. The intricate gold-plated craftsmanship still carried an air of grandeur.

But beyond that? Desolation.

On either side of the gate stood towering stone lion statues, overgrown with weeds. The rusted iron gates were tightly shut.

Directly ahead was the main teaching building and the flagpole in the open square, surrounded by several sculptures of renowned scholars arranged in a neat circle. Despite the years of abandonnt, the remnants of academic prestige lingered.

Even though the environnt had long decayed—overrun with weeds and decay—one could still see the grandeur this school once had.

Cen Xiu hopped off the bus first, followed closely by Yu Haoye, who was carrying a cara. Hou Liang and Ke Yulong were also loaded with equipnt, while even Jiang Xi helped carry a tripod.

And then there was Yu Li.

Completely unburdened.

She even had a stylish little backpack slung over her shoulder, looking far more like a carefree tourist on a spring outing than soone filming a horror movie. Her entire deanor was relaxed, as if she hadn’t quite woken up.

Live Chat Reactions:

🟢 [Fan: Our Xixi is finally in a formal film! Feels like watching my daughter grow up. 😭]

🟢 [Supporter: Here to show love for the newcor’s first official performance! 💖]

🟢 [Fan: So this is what Jiang Xi looks like? She really has that top-student, high-IQ university girl vibe.]

🟢 [Shipper: Hou Liang totally looks like a sports major! 😂 High IQ childhood friend × jock boyfriend? I ship it.]

🟢 [Analyst: Two veteran players this ti—Cen Xiu and Yu Haoye? Not bad. Cen Xiu isn’t too bad, but Yu Haoye… hmm… questionable.]

🟢 [Viewer: Bo Jingmo isn’t here? Don’t tell he’s playing the ghost right from the start? The system really has it out for him. 😭]

🟢 [Horror Buff: I watched their last horror film (Haunted Villa), and it was sothing different. First fresh storyline I’ve seen in years—curious to see if this one surprises too.]

🟢 [Critic: This film is set in a high school, huh? Betting that the idle rich girl who’s carrying nothing will be the first to die—classic helpless beauty trope.]

🟢 [Counterpoint: Don’t be so quick to judge. These “high-maintenance princess” roles usually survive long enough to stir up trouble. No drama if they die too soon.]

The audience wasn’t too pleased with Yu Li’s relaxed deanor, and in the story itself, soone was already expressing dissatisfaction.

Yu Haoye, being Cen Xiu’s college roommate, knew exactly who Qing Li was—their forr academy’s famous campus beauty.

Holding his cara, he subtly approached Cen Xiu, speaking in a low voice, clearly displeased.

“You serious, Cen Xiu? Why’d you bring Qing Li for a horror docuntary? Look at her—what’s she even gonna do?”

At the ti, Cen Xiu had been peering into the security booth—which was long abandoned, cluttered with junk, and covered in dust and cobwebs.

He withdrew his gaze and frowned at Yu Haoye’s remark, instinctively glancing at Qing Li.

“Don’t say that in front of her.”

Then, motioning for Yu Haoye to turn off the cara, Cen Xiu casually slung an arm around his friend’s shoulder and pulled him aside.

“You know how creepy this place is,” he murmured, lowering his voice. “If Qing Li gets scared, who do you think she’s gonna turn to for comfort? Obviously . And once I comfort her, boom—she starts seeing my charm.”

He smirked. “Who knows? Maybe she’ll start liking after this.”

Live Chat Reactions:

🟢 [Fan: Ohhh, so that’s why… Bringing the campus beauty to a horror film shoot is never a good idea. 😆]

🟢 [Viewer: LMAO, Cen Xiu’s whole character is just ‘hopeless simp for the goddess.’]

🟢 [Shipper: Speaking of simps, I suddenly rember my dead ship… 💔]

🟢 [Fan: Damn, sa. I have no idea how I’m gonna face Bo Jingmo later… 😭]

🟢 [Excited Viewer: Wait, did Bo Jingmo ever see how he acted when he lost his mory? I NEED to know.]

🟢 [Horror Buff: Last film was legendary—once-in-a-lifeti scene. Wonder if Bo Jingmo will be back to his usual self this ti.]

Yu Haoye scoffed at Cen Xiu’s reasoning but turned the cara back on anyway, muttering under his breath, “Just don’t let this backfire on you.”

His gaze flickered toward Jiang Xi and Hou Liang, standing a short distance away. His grip on the cara tightened slightly, a strange emotion flashing in his eyes.

Two rookies?

Looked like the competition this round would be easy.

They were obviously clueless about everything.

Cen Xiu noticed Yu Haoye’s reaction and imdiately understood what he was thinking, secretly scoffing.

Still, he turned toward Hou Liang and Jiang Xi, smiling.

“I heard you guys went to this school. How does it feel to be back?”

Hou Liang glanced around before sighing, “It’s completely different now.”

Cen Xiu seized the mont. “So, when you were here, did the midnight ghost rumors ever turn out to be true?”

“Well…” Hou Liang hesitated. “I never saw it myself. The mont the rumors spread, my girlfriend and I transferred out.”

Standing beside him, Jiang Xi adjusted her glasses and looked directly at Cen Xiu.

“I never saw it either,” she admitted. “But… I had a friend who hanged herself here.”

The entire group fell silent.

Even the cara instinctively zood in on Jiang Xi.

Cen Xiu scratched his head awkwardly and forced a laugh. “Damn… Well, uh, my condolences. Who knows? Maybe we’ll run into her tonight.”

“…”

The atmosphere grew even colder.

Jiang Xi quietly withdrew her gaze, saying nothing more.

Live Chat Reactions:

🟢 [Fan: Bruh, Cen Xiu, if you don’t know what to say, just don’t. That was the worst attempt at comfort. 😂]

🟢 [Viewer: To be fair, Cen Xiu is actually pretty considerate toward newbies. At least he’s making conversation.]

Yu Haoye frowned slightly, irritated that Cen Xiu was giving rookies so much screen ti.

He was just about to cut in—

When a cool, indifferent female voice interrupted.

“We can climb in from here. Want to check it out?”

Everyone turned in unison.

Yu Li stood casually by a section of the periter wall, arms crossed, chin slightly lifted as she gestured toward them.

“If we keep chatting, it’ll be dark soon.”

Cen Xiu’s eyes flashed with surprise before he grinned and walked over.

“Let’s go, let’s go! Qing Li, you’re the best. I was just wondering how to get in.”

Even though she was just an NPC, Cen Xiu couldn’t help but admire how well the system had cast her.

Forget the role—just looking at that face, he was already a little tempted.

The wall wasn’t high, so the guys climbed over easily. Jiang Xi had Hou Liang’s help, so she managed too.

Yu Li was last in line.

The dim evening light cast a golden glow over her chestnut hair, making her already porcelain-like skin appear even more delicate. Her slender arms and petite fra looked almost doll-like—the kind that instinctively made people want to protect her.

Cen Xiu felt his heart race.

This was his chance to impress.

He eagerly reached out a hand. “Qing Li, need help?”

The girl glanced at him lazily—then turned and walked away.

“…Qing Li?”

Confused, Cen Xiu called after her, voice lowered.

Only to watch her drag a chair out from the security booth, test its sturdiness with her foot, then effortlessly climb the wall in one smooth motion.

Yu Li casually brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her gaze slanting toward Cen Xiu. The corners of her lips curled up slightly, her expression cool and indifferent.

"I told you—don’t worry about ."

With that, she effortlessly jumped down from the wall, dusting off her clothes. She turned back lazily to glance at him, exuding an aura of effortless arrogance and refinent.

As she moved, strands of her hair flicked past Cen Xiu’s face, leaving behind a faint, crisp scent—like fresh fruit.

For a brief mont, his heart skipped a beat.

He stood there in a daze, clutching his chest as he stared at the girl below.

Dead. He was dead.

He was a grown man, and yet… he had just been chard by an NPC.

Live Chat Reactions:

🟢 [Viewer: This ‘high-maintenance princess’… why am I actually starting to like her?]

🟢 [Fan: LMAO, did anyone see Cen Xiu’s dumbfounded face? I’m dying. 😂]

🟢 [Shipper: Please, a campus beauty like her isn’t soone you can just touch casually.]

🟢 [Fan: Cen Xiu: My bad. I’ll see myself out.]

🟢 [Viewer: That vault over the wall was actually so cool. (✨ starry eyes ✨)]

Of course, so viewers weren’t so easily impressed.

🔴 [Critic: Pfft, of course she looks graceful—she’s carrying nothing while everyone else is lugging equipnt. Even Jiang Xi has a backpack, and she’s just strolling around empty-handed.]

🔴 [Skeptic: Right? What’s so special about jumping a wall? I could do that too.]

🟢 [Counterpoint: Oh, here we go again—the classic "I could do it too." 🙄]

🟢 [Defender: Co on, she found the entrance on her own, didn’t ask anyone for help, and climbed over by herself. Let’s not be petty.]

Inside the School Grounds

As soon as they entered, the group turned on their caras, capturing every detail of the abandoned school.

After years of neglect, the place was in complete disarray. Desks and chairs had been dragged outside and left scattered in the open. Torn posters and old notices littered the ground, dust swirling with every step they took, adding to the eerie, desolate atmosphere.

The main teaching building lood ahead. Its faded walls were vandalized with crude spray-painted ssages, standing out in stark contrast against the grimy surface:

“XXX was here!”

“There are no ghosts here! Stop being scared like cowards!”

“HAHAHA, I’m the king of this place!”

Among them, the most striking was a giant red character soone had deliberately painted—

"DEATH."

Ke Yulong slowly panned his cara across the graffiti. The longer he fild, the more unsettled he felt. Anxiety crept up his spine, making him wonder why he ever agreed to this in the first place.

If not for the promise of money, he wouldn’t have co here even if they paid him double.

But when he saw the excitent and curiosity on the others’ faces, he swallowed his fear and quietly followed behind them.

The entrance of the teaching building featured two large display boards—one for school announcents, the other showcasing top students.

The dates on them had been frozen in ti, stuck in the past decade. The fras had yellowed, their edges curling from years of exposure.

The glass covering the student ranking board had been shattered, and many of the top students' photos were missing. The nas, too, had faded over ti, leaving behind only faint imprints.

At the very top, where the first-place student should have been, the photo was gone.

But the na was still barely visible.

Though most of it was worn away, one character remained—"Bo."

Yu Li’s gaze paused.

Her eyebrow lifted slightly.

Turning her head, she caught sight of Jiang Xi and Hou Liang, who had also noticed the na.

Their expressions were… complicated.

A coincidence?

But Bo Jingmo’s identity was always tied to danger. It was impossible to ignore a connection like this.

Cen Xiu, noticing their focus on the board, walked over and casually leaned in beside Qing Li.

“What are you guys looking at?” he asked curiously.

When he saw the student ranking board, he chuckled.

“Oh yeah, Qing Li, didn’t you always get scholarships back in college? You must’ve been an honor student in high school too, huh? If this school were still open, maybe we’d see your na up here.”

It was ant as a lighthearted joke—a simple way to ease the tension.

But the mont he finished speaking, Yu Li gave him a look.

A slow, deep look—one that seed almost amused.

"Is that so?"

She reached out, her slender, pale fingertips tracing down from the first-place spot, slowly sliding lower—

Until they stopped at the second-place na.

"Li."

A soft chuckle escaped her lips.

Then, she tilted her head and smiled.

"But I’m already on the board."
