Chapter 284: Chapter 279 Can I be your sister-in-law?

Jian Chuyi’s eyes twinkled with excitent. “Tiantian, did you choose to participate because you knew I was on the drama performance roster?”

Ji Tian: “…”

She had no idea; she was simply looking for an activity that would let her breeze through the arts performance without moving a muscle.

For instance, playing the tree in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or a flower in Roo and Juliet…

But she hadn’t anticipated the craziness of her classmates, intent on reviving those toe-curling monts of youth. Perhaps it was due to the popularity of certain plays that were still airing, igniting the middle-school spirit within these academic prodigies.

Right, the play had even reached out to other classes, drawing in several students for guest roles, primarily because everyone was hoping for the school’s F4 to be cast in this potentially disastrous production together.

Fortunately, for fairness’s sake, the roles were decided by drawing lots, with seven main characters and nurous extras.

The four handso boys and two female roles were what they all hoped to draw.

Ji Tian had her eye on Bystander A.

Just playing a gossiping role with a single line of dialogue.

That was, “Look, there they are! I’ve never seen such handso n in my life.”

Then the main characters would make their entrances.

Ji Tian was content with this until she went to draw and nearly split—it turned out her luck was terrible, as she drew an important female role, the villainess opposing the female lead.

And Gong Dongxi had drawn the female lead—how much cheating was involved, only she could say.

Jian Chuyi, tears welling up, looked at her “Bystander A,” eting Ji Tian’s envious gaze and started sobbing pitifully.

After wallowing in dismay for a bit, she ca to ask Ji Tian, “Tiantian, where’s your cousin? Still in the Capital City?”

Ji Tian, currently engrossed in her paper—her studies couldn’t be neglected even after being away—answered without lifting her head, “No, he’s gone back to Central Continent. Do you need him for sothing?”

Jian Chuyi first bashfully twisted the hem of her clothes; her fair cheeks turned bright red.

Seeing her silent, Ji Tian looked at her with raised eyebrows, sowhat puzzled. “If you have sothing to say, say it. Don’t you feel it’s suffocating?”

She bit her lip, seeming troubled. “But… I’m afraid you might not be able to accept what I’m going to say.”

Ji Tian seriously sized her up; the girl didn’t seem ill, so she slowly replied, “Please, I’ve basically bungee jumped off cliffs, is there anything I can’t handle?”

Hearing her response, Jian Chuyi gradually felt reassured, “Alright then.”

Then, gathering her courage, she proclaid loudly, “Tiantian, can I be your sister-in-law?”

“Pffft-cough cough cough…” Ji Tian choked on her own saliva.

The entire class froze as if ti had stopped because of Jian Chuyi’s words, then suddenly erupted into chaos.

Oh my goodness, the first ti seeing a best friend turn into a sister-in-law.

Instantly, many set their sights on Ji Weinan, their sa-grade schoolmate.

But everyone was still underage! Is this really okay?!

Ji Tian stood up, pulled Jian Chuyi, whose face was full of hope, out of the room, away from the inquisitive stares of everyone else.

“Can I?” she repeated.

Ji Tian asked her, “Did you fall for Tang Yu?”

She blushed and nodded shyly, “Yeah, a little bit, I want to pursue him.”

“You’re still in high school! Underage, what are you chasing for!”

“So you an, once I’m an adult, I can be your sister-in-law?”

Ji Tian: “…”

This trickster has been eyeing the position for a long ti, huh?

Her eager eyes, practically begging to be called sister-in-law right then, made her intentions as clear as day.

With a blank face, Ji Tian said, “Instead of liking him, you might want to think about whether you could succeed.”

Jian Chuyi lowered her head thoughtfully, “You’re right, I need to think about how to pursue soone, develop the relationship… Ah, those few days abroad were just too short.”

“It seems like you like everybody, from the school F4 to every 2D husband.”

Hearing this, Jian Chuyi beca serious, “This ti it’s different, this ti it’s definitely true love.”

“…”

Two of them returned to the classroom.

Jian Chuyi was pondering what present could elevate Tang Yu’s favorable impression of her. anwhile, on the other side, Quan Jingyou walked into Class Nine with a shocked expression, waking up Ji Weinan, who was dozing off on his desk: “Ah Nan, I’ve just gotten so news. Do you want to hear it?”

Bleary-eyed, Ji Weinan lifted his head and rubbed his eyes: “What? Did you beco the starter of your team?”

“No, no…” He hastily waved his hand: “It’s even more important than that. Do you know Jian Chuyi? Now the whole school is buzzing about it—she has a crush on you!”

Ji Weinan instantly beca fully alert.

After thinking it through, he realized it was that chubby girl who always followed his sister around?

Though sowhat unkind, Ji Weinan still awkwardly confessed: “I’ve sealed my heart and vowed not to love again. Have her give up on .”

Unable to hold back, Quan Jingyou clutched his stomach and burst into laughter: “You’re quite the joker. Are you planning to beco a monk for life?”

Ji Weinan remained silent and didn’t speak. After what happened with Shen Zhiyi, his heart just felt tired.

It was as if his whole person had been hollowed out.

Although he wouldn’t have feelings for Shen Zhiyi anymore, or even genuinely like her,

He now wasn’t in the mood for love and romance either.

He sighed, “You go reject her for .”

After a pause, he continued, “Never mind, I’ll go find her myself this afternoon and clear things up.”

Quan Jingyou wasn’t in a hurry to go to the club; he decided to stick around Ji Weinan to see how things would unfold.

After school in the afternoon.

Ji Tian slung her backpack over her shoulders and headed out of the school.

Jian Chuyi followed her like a little sidekick.

Ji Tian’s ears were practically callused from Jian Chuyi’s constant questioning about what Tang Yu liked throughout the afternoon.

Annoyed beyond endurance, she replied perfunctorily: “Locks, he likes picking locks.”

Jian Chuyi seed pensive, then had a sudden epiphany: “I understand now. I will definitely make him like too!”

At the school gate, they encountered Ji Weinan and Quan Jingyou.

Ji Weinan appeared agitated, constantly ruffling his hair, while Quan Jingyou snickered beside him.

They even pulled in Gong Yu, who happened to be passing by.

Gong Yu hadn’t appeared in public for a long while.

Even Ji Tian saw him very rarely, although they were on the sa floor, with him in the next class; he seed to deliberately avoid the crowd, not interacting with others.

Ji Tian simply assud he was engaged and was avoiding their group of friends out of propriety.

When they t again, he was wearing a white sweater with a coat on top, with sowhat long hair, but his face was as clean as ever.

He just looked much thinner.

Upon seeing Ji Tian, his eyes, which had been somber, brightened slightly, then he casually looked away as if to avoid her gaze.

Ji Tian didn’t mind and walked up to them, frowning: “What are all of you doing here?”

Quan Jingyou covered his mouth to conceal a laugh: “It’s Ah Nan, he has sothing to tell Jian Chuyi.”

Suddenly the center of attention, Jian Chuyi blinked in confusion: “Huh?”

Ji Weinan got straight to the point: “I’m aware of what you said this afternoon.”

Jian Chuyi’s face showed shock as she glanced uncertainly at Ji Tian: “How did it spread so quickly?!”

Ji Tian watched her with amusent: “It’s because you were shouting so loudly, the whole school knows now.”

Jian Chuyi’s face turned red with embarrassnt. Ji Weinan maintained a stern expression: “Don’t you have sothing to say to ?”

What?

She had to say it again?

She looked helplessly at Ji Tian, who tilted her chin up teasingly: “Go on then, you were so brave this afternoon. Let my third brother also acknowledge you.”

Ji Weinan’s heart sank; he was already considering how to decline gently, to not hurt the girl’s feelings—she was his sister’s close friend, after all, and he had to be careful with his words.

While he was still contemplating, Jian Chuyi summoned her courage once more, reiterating with anticipation: “Ji Weinan, can I be your sister-in-law?”

Ji Weinan: ???
