Chapter 203: Chapter 200: Facing Difficulties, I Sleep_2
The next day.
Ji Tian woke up in her large bed as Aunt Wang gently knocked on the door, “Miss, breakfast is ready. Would you like to co down to eat, or shall I have the servants bring it to you?”
Ji Tian sat up and rubbed her eyes, “I’ll co down in a bit. You can go ahead.”
When the sounds outside had faded away, Ji Tian lay back down for a mont before heading to the balcony in her room. The garden below was tended by servants almost daily, but they made absolutely no noise while working, careful not to disturb anyone inside the house.
She had gone from being unaccustod to this scene, where over twenty servants maintained a villa, to now accepting it as normal.
Such a plain and simple life, indeed!
A white luxury car pulled out, and Ji Tian recognized it at a glance—it was Ji Qilin’s car.
“Brother!”
The car stopped, and Ji Qilin got out, looking up at her room on the second floor. Seeing her still in pajamas, he smiled, “It’s chilly outside, go in and change into sothing warm.”
“Brother, aren’t you going to the lab? I want to go too.”
Ji Qilin seed sowhat helpless. He originally hadn’t planned to bring Ji Tian; learning this stuff was hard work, and it was enough to study in one’s spare ti. He hadn’t expected her to really want to go.
“Tiantian…”
“Brother.” Ji Tian cut him off, “Were you lying to yesterday?”
“I wouldn’t lie to you.” He lifted his wrist to check the ti, “Then go wash up and have breakfast, I’ll wait for you.”
“Mhm mhm.” Ji Tian, in her slippers, dashed back into her room.
Even though it was Sunday, he still refused to give himself a day off, working on research almost daily.
Ji Tian, not wanting to keep him waiting, quickly put on a knitted dress and a white wool coat and left.
She downed a glass of milk quickly and ran outside with a sandwich still in her hand.
She bumped into Ji Qilin, who was just coming in. Failing to brake in ti, she collided with him, but he steadied her without a complaint, his tone tinged with helplessness, “Take it slow, I’m waiting for you.”
“But you’re going to be late.”
He just smiled, “No, I’m not late. Today’s a day off; I’m just working overti.”
Driven by Ji Qilin, Ji Tian sat back down at the dining table. During this ti, his phone wouldn’t stop ringing, but he answered none of them with much emotion, finally setting it to silent mode.
Ji Tian nibbled on her sandwich, blinking her bright, deer-like eyes and asked in confusion, “Brother, why aren’t you picking up your calls? Is there an ergency?”
When facing Ji Tian, his smile returned, “It’s nothing important. Take your ti eating; there’s no rush.”
At precisely nine o’clock, they set off. Because of waiting for Ji Tian, he was late for work for the first ti in his three-year career by an hour. They didn’t reach their destination until half-past nine.
“Why hasn’t the team leader arrived yet? He’s kept us waiting for over an hour!” soone complained impatiently.
Ti is money for their scientific research team.
“Brother Qilin must have been held up by sothing; otherwise, why wouldn’t he answer his phone? Let’s keep waiting,” ca a gentle and understanding female voice, swiftly soothing the restless hearts.
“Ha ha, Zhuyi, you’re the only one who would speak up for your Brother Qilin. The team leader is handso, wealthy, and intelligent, only a few years older than you. It’s a pity.”
“I wouldn’t mind the age…”
“Oh, oh, oh, you say you don’t mind the age, yet claim you have no feelings for the team leader.” Laughter spilled outside the door.
Zhuyi’s voice beca tinged with embarrassed annoyance, “That’s not it… I just see Brother Qilin as a teacher…”
Ji Qilin and Ji Tian stood at the main entrance, hearing every word loud and clear.
Ji Tian deliberately observed her brother’s expression—a slight furrow of his brow quickly smoothed over, his tone cool, “Are you all just standing around doing nothing?”
Hearing his voice, everyone fell silent. The man who had joked about him and Zhuyi awkwardly smiled, “Team leader, you’re here. What were you doing? You’re not answering calls, and we can’t start this project without you.”
Ji Qilin donned his lab coat and handed one to Ji Tian, instructing her to put it on, before slowly saying, “Waiting for my sister. I’m not there, and you can’t even start an experint? What’s the use of the institute keeping you around?”
Although he was usually gentle, he was very rigorous at work.
Their research team consisted of five people, besides him and Zhuyi, who was a special case, there were three others that Ji Tian hadn’t t.
The man glanced at Ji Tian and muttered, “This is a lab… According to the institute’s regulations, non-employees are not permitted inside. Team leader, what if your sister gets hurt in the lab? Should soone take her to the resting room to wait for you?”
Ji Qilin walked directly to the experintal bench, “No need, I can take care of her.”
“But…”
“Uncle, does your lab really have a rule that says people not employed within can’t enter?”
The man Ji Tian had called uncle imdiately frowned, “I’m only twenty-eight years old!”
Ji Tian, surprised, showed no sign of apology on her face, speaking coolly, “Sorry, but you look much older than my brother. I’d have thought you were forty-eight if you hadn’t said so. You should take care of yourself, young man. Those wrinkles could catch flies.”
The man was so choked up he could spit blood; her words were too harsh!
“Tiantian, you can’t be so rude, apologize to uncle.”
Ji Tian wrinkled her face in distress but obediently complied, “Sorry, Uncle.”
Man: “…”
Both siblings were such bastards.
Seeing Ji Qilin’s face, he couldn’t retort, considering he was indeed over a decade older than Ji Tian.
So, with a stiff voice, he went back to square one, “Yes, non-employees are not allowed in.”
Ji Tian pointed at Zhuyi, “Is she one of your official staff? Does she have a diploma or a work certificate? Your institute is not rigorous at all, allowing a high school student to participate in experints.”
The man looked at Zhuyi, whose complexion was unnatural, and imdiately countered, “She’s not like you. She’s a distinguished pupil of a great teacher. Even if she doesn’t have a certificate from our institute, her knowledge is recognized by us. More importantly, she has been specially allowed to stay here by the team leader.”
After hearing this, Ji Tian laughed lightly, “You really are double standard. If she can stay here because my brother brought her in, then I also ca with my brother, so why should I leave?” She paused, raised an eyebrow, her language provocative, “How do you know I’m not up to it?”
