Chapter 156: Chapter 156 Heaven Has Already Been Kind to Her

Xu Rang seed to sense sothing, turning his head to look in the direction where Shen Zhiyi was gazing. The instant he looked over, Shen Zhiyi imdiately shifted her attention elsewhere, her heart pounding with nervousness; she feared becoming the obsession of soone with such a psychological abnormality.

Seeing Xu Rang continue to stare at Ji Tian, she finally exhaled in relief, her palms sweating.

In this part of the original book, she hadn’t paid much attention, and the protagonist only learned about this matter through Ji Weinan, who ntioned that his sister was abducted and only saved after a day and a night.

The perpetrator was Xu Rang, who was caught and directly sentenced to life imprisonnt.

As for what Ji Tian experienced during that day and night, no one knew; the Ji Family sealed the information, preventing any discussion. Despite this, rampant outside speculation almost pilloried Ji Tian with public sha, leading her naturally silent and quiet sister to beco even more self-isolated, disappearing after finishing her senior year of high school.

The author of the original book later ntioned her simply as a character who was imprisoned by association, an unimportant person skimd over in a few brief strokes.

After recalling the event, Shen Zhiyi guessed that this pervert beside her fancied Ji Tian, his love hidden and secret. Later, for reasons the author didn’t elaborate on, he sohow took Ji Tian for himself.

Glancing again at Ji Tian, she shone brightly like the sun amidst the gloomy surroundings, beautiful and from a good family—traits many couldn’t match. Thus, while the book gave her a good background, it denied her a good ending.

With her head bowed, Shen Zhiyi struggled internally. Knowing the entire plot, she could warn Ji Tian in secret. After all, it was such a pity for soone her age to be ruined by a wrongdoer, but ultimately Shen Zhiyi’s selfishness prevailed. She had to complete her task; the plotlines were predetermined, and she couldn’t afford to ss with them. All the characters’ pathways were clearly laid out, and she couldn’t change the story arbitrarily.

She convinced herself with a few words: she was just following the plot, and it wasn’t her who hurt anyone. If she tried to save everyone, she’d be nothing less than a saint. Besides, Ji Tian didn’t even like her and secretly hindered Ji Weinan from being with her—facts Shen Zhiyi had coaxed out of Ji Weinan’s mouth. Suddenly, she felt that Ji Tian’s disappearance was a good thing; apart from facing familial bankruptcy at the end, Ji Tian had several happy years. Even if she lost so things, she had money; the heavens had already been kind to her.

Shen Zhiyi remained sowhat distracted even as the award ceremony concluded.

Walking along, she bumped into soone’s chest. A warm, large hand steadied her shoulder, “Why aren’t you watching where you’re going?”

Looking up, she saw Bai Tingyu’s handso face—sharp eyebrows and starry eyes.

Her face tinged red, and she stepped back, “I was just thinking about sothing…”

Bai Tingyu withdrew his hand, an expression of surprise on his face, “What’s so important that you’re lost in thought?”

Shen Zhiyi hesitated before adopting a casual tone, “It’s nothing much, just thinking about the study software. Who could be in first place? No matter how much I score, he scores just the sa—sigh, it’s tough to surpass him.”

Bai Tingyu considered her furrowed brow, musing softly, “Do you want to check his background for you?”

Shen Zhiyi pursed her lips modestly, “That wouldn’t be very appropriate…”

Bai Tingyu chuckled, “What’s wrong with that? I’m curious to know who this first place is, too.”

“All right then,” Shen Zhiyi smiled at him, “thanks for the trouble.”

He smiled faintly in return, and they continued walking towards the classroom without further conversation.

Passing by the notice board, Bai Tingyu paused, glancing at Qin Jiangsheng’s na and scoffing coldly, “He’s got the shares and doesn’t bother keeping up the charade anymore. Clearly capable of performing well, he still pretends to be at the bottom, all to garner sympathy—just these shaless little tricks.”

Shen Zhiyi naturally knew of the enmity between him and Qin Jiangsheng, a feud with no end in sight. As for his acquiring shares, that should be an advancent of the plot—such events usually happened later in the story. This stirred anxiety in Shen Zhiyi again, that fear of the unknown.

After thinking it over, she still quietly offered a reminder, “Qin is able to achieve such results now, his future accomplishnts will not be low, and who knows, he might even beco a big shot who can call the shots.”

Bai Tingyu gave her a cold glance and said icily, “What? Do you think he’s better than too?”

Shen Zhiyi was so startled that her eyes widened, “How could that be, you are the best in my heart… No, I an, you will definitely not lose to him in the future.”

When he heard the first part of Shen Zhiyi’s statent, his mood inexplicably improved, and he said with a smile in his eyes, “Am I really the best?”

Shen Zhiyi’s heart raced and she uncomfortably turned her head away, “Of, of course, you won’t be worse than him, perhaps even better.”

“I thought you only buried yourself in studies. It turns out you can say pretty things too. Say more in the future.”

Shen Zhiyi stole a glance at him and couldn’t help but feel a sense of achievent at the thought of making such a proud man fall for her.

Her gaze shifted toward Ji Tian, who was entering the teaching building. Not too far behind her, Xu Rang followed, perhaps she didn’t even know that there was a dangerous person in her vicinity.

After hesitating for a mont, she said with a light smile, “Right, what Ji Tian said today was really good. The fast-paced study really is exhausting. She touched people’s hearts, no wonder so many people like her.”

“Oh? Who likes her?” Bai Tingyu asked.

Shen Zhiyi lifted her chin slightly, “That senior from grade twelve, I saw him always looking at Ji Tian. He’s about to graduate, isn’t he? What a pity, Ji Tian is just in grade eleven, he might have to leave with regrets.”

“Xu Rang?”

“You know this senior?”

Bai Tingyu’s eyes shimred with depth, and he smiled, “I know him, and about who he likes, I’ve known for quite so ti.”

“Really? But with Ji Tian coming from such a good family, she probably wouldn’t care for him. Such a pity.”

“Pity?” Bai Tingyu turned to look at her, “Then I shall help him out.”

Shen Zhiyi’s heart tightened, feeling that her words once again accelerated the plot. She ultimately smiled, “It’s nice to do soone a favor. If the confession is successful, this student will co and thank you, won’t he?”

“Who knows? As long as he doesn’t hold a grudge against , that’s good.”

The two of them returned to their class together.

Not far away, Gong Dongxi almost pinched through the palm of her hand, “Damn it, that bitch, daring to get close to Brother Yu. I’ll make her learn what ‘death’ ans!”

Feng Juanjuan glanced at her and cautiously asked, “Xixi, what do you plan to do?”

“Hmph, there will always be a chance for !”

Seeing Gong Dongxi grit her teeth with anger, she ntioned casually, “What about Ji Tian? Are you still going to target her? She ranked 99th this ti, only thirty places behind you.”

Gong Dongxi, with her own good grades among the top hundred in the school, had been harshly compared in the past and thus worked hard, surpassing Ji Tian. So, her grades were her way of slapping Ji Tian in the face. Although Ji Tian had always been indifferent, fighting her battles alone, this made Gong Dongxi even more irritated. Usually, she would only mock Ji Tian with cold jibes and, having suffered a loss, had not provoked Ji Tian since the last ti.
