Ye Ling was also startled and looked up, only to be frightened by Ye Qian.
At first, Ye Qian’s face was white and clean before the al, but now it was covered with small purple spots. Ye Qian, unable to see her own face, saw her hands and cried out in surprise, dropping her chopsticks, and stood up in a panic, crying before saying much.
Bai Xue was also frightened, "What’s happening all of a sudden?"
Ye Ling tried to make room for her to leave and took a step, but she was still between the table and the chair when her mother, in a hurry to get out, pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground. Opposite, Liu Rui exclaid "ah" and hurried to help Ye Ling, coincidentally making room for Bai Xue.
"Mom, my whole body is itching. Look, do I have these things on my face too? Am I going to die?" Facing such a sudden change, even calculative Ye Qian was scared and trembled while huddled in her mother’s arms.
Bai Xue was frightened by her daughter too, "Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid. Mom will take you to the hospital now."
Fearing to waste ti, Bai Xue didn’t care about anything else. She went back to the house to fetch money, took her daughter, and left ho. She rembered the Liu Family siblings at the doorstep, "Zhiyuan, I’m taking Qianqian to the hospital. You two stay put here."
"Aunt, do you need to go with you?" Liu Zhiyuan also followed her to the door, looking at Ye Qian’s face covered with purple spots, "Soone at my house is available to drive us there."
Bai Xue heard and didn’t bother with pleasantries, "That would be great."
Liu Zhiyuan followed her out of the house too, and the originally noisy house quieted down. Ye Ling had already been helped up by Liu Rui, sitting on the bed in the East Room.
Liu Rui bit her lip, "Ye Qian got sick; that’s why Aunt was so eager. Don’t take it to heart."
Seeing Ye Ling’s palms without skin, bloody and raw, Liu Rui was creeped out but chased after Ye Ling who got up, "I’ll help you find sothing to wrap it up."
"No need, thank you for today." Ye Ling went directly to the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and let the water run over her palms, the chilling pain making her gasp.
She secretly told herself to let it hurt, so she would always rember and not soften up, to avoid getting hurt again.
Liu Rui watched and felt pained, "Ye Ling, why don’t you go to the clinic in the compound?"
One advantage of the company compound is its full facilities, including its own elentary school, kindergarten, and clinic, which ordinary compounds cannot compare to.
Blood mixed with water dripped down her fingers. When Ye Ling turned off the faucet, sweat covered her forehead. She turned and saw Liu Rui still there, issuing a soft quit notice, "You should go back, I’ll be fine."
"Can you manage by yourself?" Liu Rui was worried Ye Ling would be upset, quickly waving her hands, "If you don’t like being here, I’ll go."
"I’ll go to the clinic myself. You should head back, but if you want to stay and watch over the place, that’s fine too." Ye Ling left.
Liu Rui heard this and couldn’t stay any longer, "Then I’ll head ho."
How could an outsider watch over soone else’s house, even if there was nothing much left? She understood this, and as she left with Ye Ling, she kept staring at Ye Ling’s back, puzzled why Ye Ling disliked her. Upon thinking, it seed Ye Ling wasn’t close to anyone except Zhao Guodong and his two friends. Unable to figure out why, she kept staring until she reached her own house.
On weekends, the children in the compound run wild, shadows flitting everywhere. During al tis, the compound is unusually quiet, and the clinic in the compound is close to the small woods on the west side. Since it was lunchti, the clinic’s doors were closed at this ti.
Ye Ling found a nearby bench by the woods, close to the clinic, to sit. Her hands were now swollen like stead buns, and so of the skin was missing, hanging half-off, looking quite hideous. Ye Ling laughed bitterly, this was truly a disaster out of nowhere.
"What happened to your hands?" Hearing a voice above her, Ye Ling raised her head, the person had already walked to her side.
A seventeen or eighteen-year-old boy in a white shirt, smiling with dimples when speaking, hands casually in his pockets, his long, narrow eyes staring at Ye Ling’s hands which were palm-up. This allowed people to see everything clearly.
This person was Xiang Weilai, whom Ye Ling recognized.
In her past life, Xiang Weilai was often seen beside Liu Zhiyuan and was his friend. His face always had a hint of a smile with dimples, although she couldn’t rember his grown-up appearance, the dimples and the smile were sothing Ye Ling had rembered clearly.
"It’s nothing." Ye Ling turned her palms down.
With just a word, Xiang Weilai’s dimples erged, "You’re Ye Qian’s sister, right?"
"Yes." Ye Ling had little fondness for anyone connected to Liu Zhiyuan and responded flatly.
Ye Ling sat quietly, thinking that as long as she ignored Xiang Weilai, he would knowingly leave. To her surprise, after a mont of silence, Xiang Weilai sat down too, though at the other end of the bench, with enough space between them for three more people. Yet Ye Ling was completely uneasy.
Just as she intended to stand up and leave, she reconsidered, thinking she was here first, why should she give up her spot? She boldly leaned back and sat with a nonchalant attitude.
Growing up in the compound, regardless of looks, there was sothing particularly attractive about the deanor of the kids. Xiang Weilai was one of them. While the girls in the compound usually focused on Liu Zhiyuan, few noticed others. But upon careful observation, it was clear Xiang Weilai was not lacking in looks, especially his eyes, slender and long, making it seem like he could see through everything with a glance.
In her past life, when Ye Ling confessed to Liu Zhiyuan, she faced much ridicule, especially from Xiang Weilai, whose mischievous eyes made one want to gouge them out.
When Zhao Guodong finally ran over from afar, Ye Ling unexpectedly felt relieved. Tall but sowhat lean, he was solidly built and didn’t seem like a sixteen-year-old boy, his square face youthful yet exuding the bravery found only in youth. He stopped a few steps away from the bench, his large apricot eyes darting between Xiang Weilai and Ye Ling, seemingly sizing up sothing. Ye Ling was furious inside; even if she were close to Xiang Weilai, she wouldn’t sit together in public at this ti. (To be continued.
