Mrs. Zhao couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear when she heard her grandson speak. She kept patting her grandson’s hand, silently praising him.
At this mont, Mrs. Zhao found her grandson pleasing no matter how she looked at him, long having forgotten about the Shen Family’s affairs.
Shortly after the brief mont of joy, cries from Shen Chun emanated from the bed, "I told you not to stir up trouble, and now look what happened. It was just a misunderstanding, and I would have been the subject of gossip for a while. But now, it seems like I’m desperately trying to marry into their family. You might as well force to die."
Gao Xique couldn’t stand the hypocritical face of Shen Chun and scoffed disdainfully from the side. Obviously, the matter was beyond redemption, so she imdiately found a way out for herself by blaming everything on her parents. Gao Xique was surprised. How hadn’t she noticed before how smart and scheming Shen Chun’s mind was?
Mrs. Shen also felt ashad, hugging her daughter and crying, calling her precious and acting as if she had suffered great grievances.
Shen Bin’s forehead was tightly furrowed, clearly showing his impatience, but he remained silent. From the morning, he could tell that the Shen Family wanted to cling to this marriage with Zhao Guodong, but he didn’t expect a turn of events when Zhao Guodong revealed he had a girlfriend and stated outright that he would marry her, making it clear Shen Chun was not an option. Shen Bin invited Zhao Guodong over to state it clearly in person so the Shen Family would give up.
Now it seed that his goal was achieved. Although he attained the expected results, he couldn’t help but feel disappointed with the Shen Family’s behavior.
Shen’s father, in a fit of embarrassed rage, suddenly jumped off the bed and lunged at Zhao Guodong, "You’ve gone too far; today I’ll fight it out with you."
Who could have expected that out of nowhere, Shen’s father would cause such a commotion? Unprepared, Zhao Guodong was shoved by him, stumbling back a few steps. Over on the other side, Ye Qian scread; she was pregnant. In such an event, she should have retreated, but instead, she stepped forward to diate. Shen Bin also stepped in to separate the fighting, and in the chaos, Mrs. Zhao was knocked to the ground. Seeing this, Zhao Guodong got furious and charged at Shen’s father.
Inside the room, everything suddenly turned chaotic. Mrs. Zhao lay on the ground unable to get up, groaning. Mrs. Shen forgot to cry, and Shen Chun trembled in her mother’s embrace. Gao Xique’s eyes glowed with green light, itching to clap her hands and cheer.
Shen’s father and Zhao Guodong were entangled in a fight, while Shen Bin and Ye Qian tried to break it up. Just as Zhao Guodong’s fist swung towards Shen’s father’s face, Shen Bin realized Zhao Guodong’s status and thought that if this punch landed, Zhao Guodong would at least have to face disciplinary action. Without further thought, he tried to grab Zhao Guodong’s hand, and Ye Qian, too, reached out for Zhao Guodong’s hand. However, Zhao Guodong, in a fit of anger, threw it off. Shen Bin managed to steady himself, but Ye Qian couldn’t and fell backward, losing her balance and falling to the ground.
The scene unfolded too quickly for anyone to stop it. Everyone was aware that Ye Qian was pregnant. Despite her own pain, Mrs. Zhao crawled over to Ye Qian’s side, who could no longer bear the pain in her abdon and cried out. Feeling a warm fluid flowing downwards, she couldn’t help but scream. Her scream brought an abrupt silence as everyone turned to look at Ye Qian. Shen’s father was so frightened that he took a few steps back and beca compliant. He was the kind of person who would shrink when trouble arose but would be ruthless before getting into trouble. In sum, he was a coward.
Zhao Guodong was also stunned. Shen Bin already sensed sothing was wrong. Taking a few strides, he squatted down beside her.
"Can you hold on? We need to get you to the hospital now." After a mont’s hesitation, Shen Bin carried Ye Qian horizontally and headed out quickly, calling back to Zhao Guodong behind him, "Bring your grandmother too."
Only then did Zhao Guodong co back to his senses. He helped his grandmother up, checked if she had any injuries, and walked out. The Shen Family remained silent and no one followed them out. They knew they had caused big trouble this ti. Even though the ground was mud, the bloodstain was clear for everyone to see.
The silence was broken by Mrs. Shen, "Our family can’t afford to be blad by the Liu Family, can we? That’s the daughter-in-law of a chief. If sothing happens to the child, won’t they co looking for us?"
Saying this, she hesitated, "I think we should go back to our hotown and lay low for a while!"
"What are you hiding for? It wasn’t who did it; it was Zhao Guodong. If soone should be held accountable, it’s the Zhao Family, not us." Shen’s father’s words, though tough on the surface, revealed a lack of confidence. He angrily glared at his daughter. "Useless thing. Such a good marriage, if you had put in more effort, we wouldn’t be in this ss. Now getting embarrassed in front of others serves you right, and it’s all your own fault."
Shen Chun kept her head down, stayed silent, occasionally wiping her tears. Seeing this made Mrs. Shen’s heart ache, and she hugged her daughter, casting an unhappy glance at her husband.
"Chun’er already feels bad enough; you don’t need to keep blaming her. With Chun’er’s personality, she won’t have trouble finding soone. Besides the Zhao Family, there’s the Li Family and the Wang Family. I refuse to believe we can’t find soone good at the hospital—look at those doctors, aren’t they much better than workers?"
"Keep comforting yourself here. After what’s happened, which doctor at that hospital would still consider her? Whether she can get married is another matter." After a few more complaints, Shen’s father fell silent, looked at the bloodstain on the ground with disgust, and said to Gao Xique, "Go sweep the floor, cover it with so dust; it’s really unlucky."
Faced with having to do the work alone, Gao Xique showed so dissatisfaction but said nothing. She went outside, grabbed so straw ash, and covered the bloodstain with it. The Shen Family quieted down, but anwhile, at the hospital, chaos erupted. After Ye Qian was taken to the hospital, Shen Bin called the Liu Family at the courtyard. As soon as they heard about Ye Qian’s accident, the Liu Family rushed to the hospital.
When the Liu Family arrived, they had already received the news; Ye Qian’s baby couldn’t be saved and she was having a procedure. Wu ngyi sat silently on a chair, her face stern, saying nothing. The Liu n weren’t ho, so it was just Wu ngyi who ca over.
The second person to arrive was Bai Xue. Unlike Wu ngyi, Bai Xue lacked restraint. When she heard about her daughter’s miscarriage, she sat in the corridor and started to wail, simultaneously cursing Zhao Guodong, even going as far as to insult his ancestors across 18 generations, right in front of Mrs. Zhao. Mrs. Zhao felt guilty initially, thinking her family had wronged the Liu Family, but those feelings of guilt vanished little by little as Bai Xue’s words cut deeper.
