Ye Ling returned the words, although she called out ’Dad,’ her tone was indifferent, as if she were speaking to a stranger.
After Ye He Ping entered the room, he noticed that his eldest daughter had been keeping her head down. Despite everything that had happened, his wife and younger daughter had co over to shoulder the bla, but his eldest daughter just sat there like a stranger, uninvolved. This attitude made Ye He Ping feel uncomfortable; even though he knew that the reason his eldest daughter was distant was because she had not been by their side all these years, how could she sit there so coldly when the family was going through such turmoil? It must take a heart of ice to do that.
Listening to his eldest daughter’s indifferent words, he couldn’t help but get angry, his expression turning stern, "Ye Ling, you are the eldest, you should be more sensible than your sister. I know not letting you go to school wronged you, but given our family’s current situation, you should sacrifice a little self-interest for the family’s sake."
"Dad, I grew up in the countryside, I’m not as noble as you think, capable of sacrificing my whole life for others. I don’t care about eating well, dressing well, or even not living with you in the city, but when it cos to studying, I cannot give in or agree," Ye Ling looked steadily at her father. How could they be so harsh on her, for two lifetis now?
Originally, after being reborn, Ye Ling thought she no longer cared, but standing in front of everything now, she couldn’t help but feel hurt, a mocking smile appeared on her lips, how could she still hold hope, how laughable and pitiful.
"Ye Ling, do you really want to make the whole family have a hard ti because of you?" Ye He Ping unconsciously raised his voice.
"Why are you shouting? What did the child say wrong? Why should the whole family have a hard ti if she goes to school? I’ve never heard of such a reason." Old Mrs. Ye was anxious and squeezed in next to her son, raising her palm to hit him.
Ye He Ping didn’t dare to dodge, letting his mother do as she pleased, "Mom, don’t be angry."
It wasn’t that Ye He Ping was afraid of the pain, but seeing his mother at such an age, he was really worried that she might hurt her back or sothing.
Bai Xue and Ye Qian also hurried to break up the fight. Old Mrs. Ye couldn’t push away Ye Qian, but instead swung her hand fiercely at her daughter-in-law, "Stop pretending to be a good person here, don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. If you weren’t instigating from behind, would He Ping have such an idea? They say a virtuous wife brings prosperity to the family, but with a troublemaker like you, life can’t be good."
Bai Xue’s face turned red imdiately, tears streaming down her face.
"Mom, it’s not Bai Xue’s fault, don’t bla her." Seeing his mother scolding his wife, Ye He Ping hurried to explain.
This explanation made things worse, Old Mrs. Ye hadn’t planned to scold anyone further, but now seeing her son siding with her, she wouldn’t let it go, "How is it not her fault? Last New Year, she was talking about not letting Lingzi go to school, and this ti she sent a telegram urging us to co quickly, also to stop Lingzi from going to school. Let tell you, unless I’m dead, no one should think about stopping Lingzi from going to school."
Old Mrs. Ye, filled with disappointnt towards her son, held back a bellyful of anger, "Lingzi, what are you still standing there stupidly for? Let’s go, from now on you don’t need to co back to this house, even if grandma is dead, don’t co back begging."
"Mom..." Ye He Ping looked helpless.
Ye Ling walked over to support her grandmother, grabbing her coat as they headed out. Ye Qian, worried, stepped forward to block them, "Grandma, it’s all my fault, don’t be angry, don’t leave."
"Ye Qian, having your parents love you is enough, your sister was pitiful since childhood, suffering with in the village. Now I will take her back to the countryside to study, and you just stay with your parents to be filial." Old Mrs. Ye wasn’t too harsh on her younger granddaughter, but after speaking, she headed out.
Bai Xue couldn’t be bothered with crying, she hastily wiped her tears and rushed forward, "Mom, it’s my fault, calm down, if you leave like this, how will He Ping hold his head high in the courtyard? Not for anything else, He Ping is currently about to be promoted, you should think about him."
"I don’t need to think about him. It’s as the mother and Lingzi as the daughter who are dragging him down. Once our grandparents leave, his days will be better." Old Mrs. Ye left without turning back.
"Lingzi, aren’t you going to persuade your grandma? She is old and can’t take the stress." Bai Xue called out to her eldest daughter.
Ye Ling pretended not to hear, following her directly.
"Not a single one is worry-free." Bai Xue cursed her eldest daughter, turning to her husband urgently, "You should go chase after them."
Knowing full well that chasing after them wouldn’t do any good, but with people leaving like this, the courtyard wouldn’t stop gossiping.
Finally realizing, Ye He Ping followed his wife, striding out after them, where Old Mrs. Ye, who had left the house, was pulling on her coat as she walked towards the courtyard. Had it not been for the sake of her son’s reputation, she wouldn’t have held back her words.
Without parents around, Ye Ling quietly persuaded, "Grandma, no matter how angry you are, you need to take care of your health. Just let them say what they want, if I want to study, they can’t stop . Why get so angry? Aren’t you the one suffering?"
"You stubborn girl, you can hold yourself, but I can’t." Once they reached the gate, out of earshot of the young guard, Old Mrs. Ye spoke, "They all target you, do they not realize you were born from her flesh too?"
"Grandma, it’s because sothing happened at ho. Let’s not talk about this now. We spent the whole night on the train, and more stress today, your body can’t take it. Let’s stay one more night before we go, at least let your body recover before we leave." Ye Ling could see her grandma’s movents were a bit stiff, obviously suffering from aches and pains.
Old Mrs. Ye waved her hand, "It doesn’t matter, I can’t stay another mont in this house, we are going back now."
If her son wouldn’t provide money, she had to find a way to earn more for her granddaughter’s education.
Ye Ling didn’t want to stay either. Looking back, she saw her parents catching up, so she stopped talking. In the end, whether they could be persuaded was their problem, but then things changed before her parents could catch up. Ye Qian, who was the last to chase after them, suddenly collapsed, the young soldier by the door saw this and alerted them, making Ye He Ping and his wife turn back to check on their younger daughter, while Old Mrs. Ye and her granddaughter disappeared.
