"Sis, it’s already this late, why haven’t you started cooking?" With a few large strides, he plopped onto a chair in the living room.
Bai Xue was so angry that her chest hurt, she slamd the door and followed him in. "You have no proper job and just wander around aimlessly. How are you planning to get by? I’m telling you, even the temporary jobs won’t want you if you don’t pull yourself together. They won’t hire soone like you."
"Isn’t there still Hehua’s twenty bucks a month? There’s no worry about starving now. The money I earn is just saved for fines in the future." Bai Guoping dismissed it without concern. "Sis, where’s Ye Ling? Didn’t she finish her exams? Why isn’t she ho? Have you thought about what I ntioned last ti? That’s a substantial sum of money, marrying the team leader’s son is not sothing anyone can achieve."
"Shut up. If it’s such a good deal, why aren’t you thinking about your daughter, Hehua? Bai Guoping, let tell you, don’t think I don’t know your sche. You want to push to sell my daughter for money and solve your problems too, huh? Has a dog eaten your conscience? How have I treated you all these years? Bai Guoping truly didn’t dare face his brother-in-law, always feeling that his brother-in-law could see right through him. In the West Room, Ye Qian heard her uncle’s words and was furious, gritting her teeth, but she knew her mother always favored her uncle. If it benefitted her uncle’s family without much effort on her mother’s part, she wouldn’t refuse. As expected, shortly after, Ye Qian heard her mother agreeing, and then her uncle left happily.
While Bai Xue took on the matter here, on the other side, Ye He Ping had already learned about his daughter’s residence from Zhang Guoliang. After leaving the compound, he headed straight to the Zhang Family’s house, only to find it empty. The compound was locked, and no one responded after calling for a while. Not daring to wander off, he waited outside and saw his daughter returning with groceries.
"Dad, you’re back?" Ye Ling’s face lit up with joy.
Ye He Ping took the groceries from his daughter’s hand, "I’m back. Did you go shopping? Why didn’t you buy so at? Are you out of money? Don’t worry, if you run out, Dad will give you more. Look how skinny you are."
Ye Ling retrieved the key and unlocked the door, "Dad, I’m growing, no matter how much I eat, I won’t gain weight."
They entered the courtyard, and Ye He Ping glanced around. Seeing how clean it was, and with bedding laid out to air dry, it seed his daughter was living well. His smile grew broader, "Even if you’re growing, you shouldn’t be this skinny. Thankfully, I’m on break these days. Let Dad cook for you and make sure you put on so weight."
"Sure, let’s see your cooking skills, Dad." Ye Ling played along and replied back.
The father and daughter went inside, placing the groceries on the kitchen stove.
