Liu Aige felt uncomfortable, and naturally, the words she spoke wouldn’t be pleasant. If it were really a child as young as Ye Ling, maybe a few taunts from Liu Aige would have been easily dismissed. But Ye Ling was no child; she had lived through two lifetis.
In her past life, she had already spent a whole life in cowardice. In this life, she wouldn’t let herself live in displeasure again. She was already angry at Zhao Guodong for what he did, and now being taunted like this was akin to being slapped hard in front of everyone.
So as soon as Liu Aige finished speaking, Ye Ling turned back with a smile and said, "Although I may not have grown up much, Shen likes this kind of girl. How else would he publicly kiss in front of everyone in the courtyard? You know he’s a man, not soone who would do such things lightly. Nurse Liu, don’t you think so?"
Liu Aige’s expression changed.
Zhao Guodong, however, was pleased and even encouraged Ye Ling with his eyes. Unfortunately, Ye Ling, who would usually glare back, only gave him a fleeting glance today and then shifted her gaze back to Liu Aige. Zhao Guodong felt sowhat uncomfortable; he hadn’t done anything significant, just coaxed her to provoke Shen Bin. Now she really bore a grudge.
The joy on Zhao Guodong’s face began to fade, while Zhang Linong didn’t even bother to look. Ever since advising Zhao Guodong to let go of Ye Ling, Zhang Linong hadn’t looked at Zhao Guodong again. As for Wang Ping, he also felt that Zhao Guodong went too far today, although Ye Ling tried to smooth things over. However, he couldn’t shake the feeling that sothing was off, even though he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what.
Liu Aige, though only a nurse, had a father who worked in a company. She carried herself with so pride when mingling with comrades. Being disgraced by a young girl today was sothing she couldn’t stomach. Yet, she couldn’t find an opening to refute, and it was impossible to lie about such things. It must be true.
Thinking these things, Liu Aige was also resentful of the leader. A man from the countryside who had been divorced was tolerable, but being a minister only to do such things was a personal affront to her.
When Liu Aige didn’t know how to counterattack, she spotted Shen Bin from afar. Her anger flared up, and she shouted at him, "Minister Shen, over here."
Shen Bin seed to be heading sowhere else, but upon hearing Liu Aige call out, he looked over and, after a brief pause, walked toward them.
Zhao Guodong, upon seeing this, hurried to pull Ye Ling and said to Liu Aige, "Nurse Liu, since there’s nothing else, we’ll head back first. You can talk with Captain Shen slowly."
Ye Ling shook off his hand and stepped aside, avoiding his grasp. Zhao Guodong felt a void inside, not knowing why, and looked toward Ye Ling. She ignored him and turned to leave.
Zhao Guodong then looked at Zhang Linong, who did not look at him, and Wang Ping rely shook his head.
Liu Aige, however, wouldn’t let Ye Ling leave. "Since Minister Shen is here, how about we all get acquainted? Actually, to be honest, I was introduced here today for a blind date with Minister Shen. I only just learned about your situation with Minister Shen. I think Minister Shen has been misunderstood. We should clear things up face-to-face."
When she said these words, Liu Aige’s smile was very amiable, but Ye Ling could see her excitent. After all, when Zhao Guodong saw Shen Bin approaching, he imdiately wanted to leave, as if afraid of being caught. Even a fool could understand what was going on.
Seeing through Liu Aige’s thoughts, Ye Ling gave a cold smile, "What’s the misunderstanding? You want to see it, so I’ll let you see now."
Liu Aige’s smile stiffened on her face.
Ye Ling turned to Shen Bin, who had already co over, and asked, "Shen Bin, didn’t you kiss publicly in the courtyard?"
Ye Ling’s words didn’t stump Shen Bin. His expression only paused slightly, his eyes scanned everyone, then he nodded.
Zhao Guodong gasped, feeling that Ye Ling was really bold enough.
Zhang Linong’s face worsened, and he marched back, while Wang Ping, who initially wanted to stay and watch the drama, hesitated and then followed. Zhao Guodong called after them, but seeing them not stop, he thought for a mont and followed too, giving Ye Ling an encouraging look before he left. Unfortunately, Ye Ling didn’t even glance at him.
Liu Aige, originally looking at Zhao Guodong’s reaction, felt she’d found a new outlet. But her excitent was in vain; Ye Ling directly asked Shen Bin, and he actually admitted it, as if she’d been slapped hard in the face.
Ye Ling looked at Shen Bin and said, "This Nurse Liu said she’s here for a blind date with you. I think you two are quite suited, so let’s pretend nothing happened between us. I hope you get along well."
With those words, she fled as if escaping.
Having lived two lifetis, Ye Ling always felt she lost her dignity when expressing that matter to Liu Zhiyuan. After her reincarnation, she always wanted to be strong and independent, avoiding undignified actions. Yet today, it seed to happen again, and the ridicule and sarcasm from the past life slamd back like waves. Ye Ling stumbled, nearly falling, unsure of how she returned to her dormitory, and collapsed onto the bed, knowing nothing more.
Ye Ling had a dream, or perhaps it wasn’t a dream. She was back to the ti when she expressed her feelings to Liu Zhiyuan in her past life, hearing Sun Mingjie’s mocking, the pointing and whispering of people in the courtyard, her mother’s cursing, her father’s face filled with disappointnt and hatred, and Liu Zhiyuan’s mother’s scolding her shalessness—everything seed to blow up her head. Ye Ling slowly opened her eyes, the room’s light was on, it was silent, and she dazed for a mont before rembering this was her father’s dormitory. Turning her head, she saw her father asleep at the table, propping his head on his hand. Ye Ling tried to sit up but couldn’t move at all, though her motion woke up Ye’s father, who was sleeping.
"What’s wrong? Still feeling uncomfortable sowhere?" Ye He Ping asked, looking at his daughter’s pale and fragile face with concern. "You had a fever. In the afternoon, people ca to call you for dinner, but you didn’t respond, so they opened the door and saw you sleeping on the bed. They inford , and I brought you so food. When I got back, I found you burning up. Luckily, the nurse at the infirmary gave you an injection."
As Ye He Ping spoke, he placed his hand on his daughter’s forehead, nodded in satisfaction, "Good, no more fever. That’s good. Hungry? It’s the middle of the night. I asked the canteen to make so noodles for you. They’re probably soggy now, but still warm. Want to have a bit?"
Looking at her father’s worried face, Ye Ling thought of her grandmother, "Dad, Grandma wouldn’t want you to be unhappy."
