I said "oh" and hung up the phone, then sent my location to Ivan Underwood.

Ten minutes later, a black rcedes pulled up by the road.

Ivan Underwood doesn’t care much about material things, especially since he’s a doctor now; driving a flashy car to and from work is a bit inappropriate.

But soone like him could charm loads of won even on a shared bike.

"Get in," Ivan Underwood rolled down the car window and said to .

"Where to?" I asked, a bit perplexed.

"To your place, to pick up Bonnie."

The old doting father is always thinking about his precious daughter. I smirked, opened the passenger door, and sat down. Ivan Underwood glanced at , "Seatbelt."

I silently buckled the seatbelt again.

The roads were slippery with snow, so the car moved slowly. I watched the scenery outside the window, but my mind was filled with the image of Henry Preston and Azure Vaughn in the snow.

Halfway through, Ivan Underwood broke the silence first, "Azure Vaughn and the others applied to change their hospital room."

"Yeah, I know." I really don’t want to bring up Henry Preston and Azure Vaughn now, even though they are exactly what’s on my mind.

"I’m the lead surgeon for Walter Vaughn’s operation." If Ivan Underwood were to beco an intelligence officer, he’d definitely be top-notch.

I picked up my phone and transferred him so money. When he saw his phone light up briefly, he was puzzled, "What does this an?"

I deliberately showed a wicked smile, "Dr. Underwood, why don’t you botch Walter Vaughn’s surgery a bit? After it’s done, I’ll give you a large sum of money!"

Right then, the traffic light turned red, and the car stopped. Ivan Underwood quickly returned my transfer on his phone, then scolded with a dark face, "Watch fewer lodrama shows; what are you even thinking?"

"How do you know my inspiration ca from lodramas?" I asked, surprised.

"What else?" Ivan Underwood looked at like I was an idiot.

I scoffed and no longer bothered with him.

After returning to Maplewood Gardens, Bonnie jumped excitedly into Ivan Underwood’s arms when she saw her owner had returned ho. She rubbed against him and snuggled, her ows echoing across the living room.

The servants had been taking good care of her these days; she looked full of energy.

Ivan Underwood held Bonnie in his arms and petted her head, just about to start talking to when a sound ca from the stairs; it turned out Henry Preston was also ho.

Not wanting to see Henry Preston, I left Ivan Underwood and went upstairs alone.

As for what the two n talked about in the living room, I have no idea; they are childhood friends and surely wouldn’t run out of conversation.

In the large master bedroom, I lay on the bed tossing and turning, unable to sleep. On the one hand, I was irritated by Henry Preston and Azure Vaughn, and on the other hand, worried about Susan Adler’s situation.

Just then, Crystal Dawson sent a ssage: Zoe, Susan Adler is about to take the bait!

I was startled and quickly replied: So soon? How did you manage that?

Crystal Dawson sent a "smirk" emoji: Hehe, I’ll tell you in a couple of days, wait for my good news.

Then she stopped talking to , seemingly really plotting sothing big, waiting to surprise in the end. I didn’t press further; although Crystal Dawson can be impulsive sotis, she’s quite smart.

I wondered if that private detective had started investigating. I opened the SMS inbox on my phone but found no reply from the detective; instead, in the intercepted ssages, a red dot was flashing.

When I clicked in, I saw seven or eight intercepted unread ssages from an unknown number. After reading the content, I realized that number belonged to Jasper Yates.

I didn’t expect him to persistently contact ; the latest ssage was from this afternoon.

I hesitated for a mont but decided to call him; the other side picked up quickly.

"Hello? Is this Miss Hathaway?" Jasper Yates’s voice was rather pleasant, warm and gentle, speaking with elegance.

"Yes, I saw you’ve sent several ssages; is there anything going on?" I asked.

"Nothing much, you drank that night and went back; I wasn’t sure if you got ho safely, so I sent a ssage checking in. But you didn’t reply, and I was worried calling directly might disturb you," Jasper Yates said, sowhat embarrassed.

I chuckled a few tis, "Thank you for your concern, I got ho safely that night. I just saw your text today; it was intercepted by the system."

Jasper Yates was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly spoke with a mix of helplessness and frustration, "I knew this would happen, I’ll get a new number tomorrow!"

I didn’t understand what he ant, then he explained that he’d been a salesman for a long ti, and due to the frequent telemarketing, his number was marked as spam, even after visiting the service center several tis to have it unmarked, it would soon be considered spam once again.

Honestly, the reason made burst out laughing.

Hearing laugh, Jasper Yates laughed too, and at that mont, I didn’t notice Henry Preston had entered my room, suddenly speaking, "Who are you chatting with so happily?"

I hung up almost instantly and stuffed the phone under the pillow.

This action inevitably filled Henry Preston with doubts; his face turned very dark, like storm clouds gathering before a tempest, exuding a sense of oppressive unease.

"Joel Sutton again?" Henry Preston had already reached the bedside; he uncovered my blanket and reached for my phone under the pillow.

"That’s my private matter!" I grabbed his wrist; the half-rolled-up sleeve revealed a portion of his arm, with perfectly defined muscle lines.

Henry Preston’s clothes fit him well; he looks like a living mannequin, but without clothes, his body has no extra fat, exceptionally strong and toned. So my attempt to stop him carried substantial risk.

If a physical confrontation occurred, I’d undoubtedly be at a disadvantage.

With my hand on his wrist, Henry Preston’s aura was already very low; he exerted force imdiately and reversed the hold on my wrist. Without thinking, I raised my other hand ready to hit him.

Since the night we wrestled for hours, I realized this thod significantly alleviates the anger in my heart.

Henry Preston swiftly seized my other hand; I was instantly pinned like a fish on a cutting board.

"Henry Preston, we agreed not to interfere in each other’s private lives. I’m warning you, if you dare hit , I’ll drag you down with !" I fearlessly t his icy, dark eyes, trying hard to stay calm.

"I don’t hit won," Henry Preston coolly said.

That’s true; in our past life, even when things got deadly between us, he never hit . In contrast, I was very agitated back then; whenever I’d finally get a chance to see him, it would end with crying and fighting, at most he’d push away.

"Then let go." I twisted my wrist imdiately.

Henry Preston seemingly realized such actions were too bullying, eventually released my hands. With my regained freedom, I sat up from the bed, my attitude returning to calmness with a hint of sadness, "Henry Preston, what do I an to you in your heart? Can you tell ?"
