I really appreciated Leah Lane’s rationality and clarity, but it pained deeply. Words of comfort seed too weak; the only thing I could do to help her was to make Connor Hawthorne pay the price.

After a mont of silence, Leah spoke, "Alright, since he betrayed , there’s nothing left to hold onto. Zoe, I’ll do whatever you say."

Leah and I discussed for a while in the hospital room and learned so detailed information about Connor.

Connor’s family is slightly below average in terms of wealth, originally from a small village. However, he was diligent in his studies from a young age and was quite smart, got into a good university, and after graduating, joined his current company, with a high possibility of promotion soon.

For Connor, this job is the most important, as it’s his foundation for continuing to survive in City A. If he loses this job, he might not find a better one easily.

Leah also told that Connor’s parents are only fifty-three or fifty-four years old and do nothing at ho, relying entirely on the money Connor sends. But Leah didn’t really care about these things since she didn’t lack money, and giving a little money to her future in-laws wasn’t a big deal to her.

Just after the chat, Crystal Dawson and her friends returned.

"Mom!" Seeing her own mother, Leah’s tears imdiately started to fall.

Leah’s mother hurried over, full of heartache in her eyes.

I took Crystal Dawson and Tiana O’Connell out of the hospital room and told them about Leah’s attitude and Connor’s situation.

I already had a rough plan in mind, but I needed Henry Preston’s help.

After returning from the hospital, I called Henry.

"Henry, can you do a favor?" I asked straightforwardly.

"Speak," he replied just as directly.

I wanted Henry to have the company’s HR send Connor a job invitation email with extrely favorable conditions—basically, find a way to make Connor resign.

As for Leah, I advised her to find an excuse to avoid Connor for a while, not to et with him.

Henry didn’t know what I was planning and rcilessly refused , after all, the Preston Group’s main office isn’t a place just anyone can enter.

I thickened my skin and threatened, "If you don’t agree, I’ll tell your parents about you pursuing a female college student!"

"Zoe Hathaway, do you have a death wish?" Henry’s originally indifferent voice suddenly turned angry.

"Just tell whether you agree or not. If not, I’ll say it now!" I was focused only on avenging Leah.

"...We’ll talk when I get back," Henry hung up the phone.

Half an hour later, Henry ca back. I was surprised he made the effort to co back and talk in person. As soon as he entered, he asked, "Why insist on getting Connor into the Preston Group?"

I replied, "Who said anything about getting him into the Preston Group? Just send the invitation email to get him to leave his current company."

Henry raised an eyebrow, "What trick are you playing now?"

Now that Leah decided to break up with Connor and I needed Henry’s help, I decided to speak plainly.

After hearing out, Henry narrowed his eyes slightly, "The TV drama plot you ntioned last ti, was Leah acting it?"

"What acting, it’s real!" I said testily, "If the Preston Group wasn’t more enticing, I would’ve directly gone to my parents for help."

Connor may be a scumbag, but in his career, he is very steady and practical, not easily changing jobs. To entice him, the company must be strong enough to shake him.

Besides, the Preston Group has several sector divisions, and there truly is a position that matches Connor’s expertise.

After pondering for a mont, Henry agreed, "Alright, okay."

Not bad. I smiled, "Okay, don’t worry, I won’t tell your parents even if you’re chasing a widow!"

"Shut up," Henry glared at .

Fine, I’ll shut up. Anyway, my goal was achieved. I had a simple al and then went upstairs to rest.

Henry didn’t linger at ho; given the ti, he preferred to spend it with Azure Vaughn. Since Azure broke up with Joel Sutton, it’s the best ti for him to win the beauty’s heart.

Not long after he left, I received a text from him: Report to the company HR tomorrow.

Only after reacting did I rember the previous ntion of joining the Preston Group. I didn’t expect him to actually arrange it. I just didn’t know what position I would get.

But since Henry gave such a face, I wasn’t going to be too critical. I went straight to the Preston Group the next day to report in.

The relationship between Henry and isn’t public at the company, but people aren’t foolish. Anyone who’s ever searched for information about Henry should have seen the few photos of and him, however rare they may be.

So, the HR staff were very polite, offering tea and guiding through the paperwork before taking to Henry’s office.

I never dread that the position Henry assigned was his personal secretary.

Henry was in a eting, so I sat at the secretary’s desk, flipping through the secretary’s handbook.

At that mont, Leah called , saying, "Zoe, the Preston Group really sent a job invitation email to Connor. He just texted ."

"Good, that’s just the first step. We must make him lose both money and his reputation!" I was pleased with how fast Henry acted.

"Yes, I’m going ho these days. Co visit when you have ti," Leah invited .

"Sure, I’m working at the Preston Group now. By the way, you won’t believe what my job is..." I hadn’t finished when Henry appeared before , looking down at .

I glanced up at him and quietly hung up the phone.

After all, it was during work hours, and I shouldn’t be chatting away.

"Do you think a week is enough to familiarize yourself with the job?" Henry, seeing how tactful I was, didn’t deliberately make things difficult and returned to his seat, handing a cup. "It shouldn’t take a week to get used to making coffee."

"I said I didn’t want a nial or errand job, so now you want to make coffee?" I was a bit annoyed.

"Don’t you know working close to the boss allows you to learn a lot?" Henry said, pretending to be reasonable.

I was so amused I laughed, went over to take the cup, muttering on purpose, "Why not let your college girl co to learn? She needs it more than I do!"

Every ti I ntioned Azure, Henry’s expression soured.

Under his extrely displeased gaze, I happily went to make a cup of coffee and then served it to Henry.

As soon as I sat back down, I got a text from an unfamiliar number: Miss Hathaway, it’s Azure Vaughn, can we et?

How did Azure get my number? Frowning, I replied: Sure, after work.
