Originally, I thought I could have a simple al with Ivan Underwood to soothe my complicated emotions today, but unexpectedly, sothing unexpected happened.

"Ivan, you’re having dinner here?" A woman appeared by our table. She seed a bit younger than , her delicate oval face looked very gentle.

This voice... it sounds just like the woman who answered Ivan Underwood’s call for him this morning.

I remained silent, just watching Ivan Underwood.

Ivan Underwood glanced at my reaction first. Seeing that I didn’t show any unusual expression, he relaxed a bit and responded sowhat indifferently, "Yeah, I’m having dinner with my girlfriend."

The woman imdiately turned her gaze toward and smiled gently, "You must be Zoe Hathaway, Miss Hathaway? So pretty, no wonder Ivan likes you so much."

"Hello." I greeted politely.

"Hello, hello, I’m Sylvia Tuttle. I went to see him this morning and answered your call on his behalf. I’m really sorry, please forgive ." Her expression was very sincere, not like she was pretending.

Her warm and sincere attitude made it hard for to be suspicious, so I just nodded, "It’s okay, Ivan explained it to , and I believe him."

Sylvia Tuttle replied happily, "That’s good, I was afraid you’d misunderstand."

Saying this, she glanced at Ivan Underwood again.

Just from that glance, I could tell her feelings for Ivan weren’t just friendship, but her eyes were restrained, as if suppressing her affection.

After Sylvia Tuttle left, I jokingly asked, "Is Miss Tuttle secretly in love with you?"

"No." Ivan Underwood denied it quickly, seemingly unwilling for to continue on this topic.

I nodded knowingly and didn’t pursue the matter further.

I had no mood for the al, and after finishing, I suggested to Ivan Underwood that we part ways, and then drove to the hospital to see my mom. Fortunately, there was a caregiver now, so I didn’t need to worry too much.

"I’ll go with you." Ivan Underwood stopped .

"No need, I’ll just check on her and then go ho to rest. You have work tomorrow as well, so head back early." My mood wasn’t great today; apart from the good news from Crystal Dawson, everything else seed off.

Ivan Underwood hesitated to speak, but I didn’t say much more and quietly got into the car and drove away.

Once I arrived at the hospital and got to my mom’s room, I discovered the caregiver was missing, and the equipnt keeping my mom alive showed no response. I imdiately checked and found the power had been unplugged!

"Doctor!!" I was shocked, quickly turned the power back on, and rushed out to find the doctor.

The doctor arrived shortly to check my mom again. Luckily, I discovered it in ti, and my mom wasn’t severely affected; if it was any later, there might’ve been major trouble.

My heart was pounding, and my head buzzing. After the doctor and nurse left, the caregiver returned.

I sternly questioned the caregiver, who looked nervous and wronged, "Miss Hathaway, I don’t know who did it. Soone called saying you sent sothing downstairs and asked to get it. I was only gone for ten minutes!"

"Give that phone number." I replied.

The caregiver handed the phone, and I looked through the call log, but it was a temporary internet number and couldn’t be reached at all.

Now, the only way was to check the hospital’s surveillance.

I requested to access the surveillance with the hospital, which they agreed to, but it would take ti.

Then, I dismissed this caregiver and found another one, repeatedly instructing them to stay with my mom 24/7, offering more pay if necessary.

For two consecutive days, I was busy with my mom’s affairs while also juggling work. I barely slept, and when I drove ho from work, I fell asleep in the car.

"Knock Knock!"

The sound of knocking on the car window woke from my slumber. It was already dark outside, with dim streetlights all around.

Henry Preston’s face appeared outside the car window, and I rolled down the window.

"Aren’t you afraid of trouble, sleeping in the car?" Henry Preston asked.

"No, is sothing up?" I realized my voice was extrely hoarse as I spoke.

Henry Preston’s expression changed visibly upon hearing my voice, a bit displeased. "Haven’t you slept these days? You look as tired as if you were poisoned."

I look in the mirror every day, of course, I know I seem rather haggard now. But the pressure is overwhelming, I have no choice.

I rubbed my eyes, then opened the car door and got out, "Yeah, I’m going to get so sleep first."

Just then, a voice sounded not far away, "Iceberg!"

I looked over, it was Kitty.

Kitty was surprised to see , she walked over, glanced at Henry Preston, then at , and laughed, "Iceberg, you actually live next to your ex-wife?"

Henry Preston showed a distasteful look when he saw Kitty and questioned, "How did you get in here?"

"Hehe, isn’t this what you left behind?" Kitty held out an ID card, with which you could get in and out of here.

How did Henry Preston’s card end up with her? I rembered she ntioned pursuing Henry before, and I even gave her his contact information.

This progress was sowhat rapid.

Henry Preston grabbed the card from her, then with a scowl, said, "You can leave now."

"How rude, shouldn’t you at least offer a cup of tea as thanks?" Kitty snorted, asking.

"I need to thank others, but not you." Henry Preston replied disdainfully.

I listened from the side, sensing a familiar, light mood; Henry Preston’s attitude toward Kitty appeared quite different, much more genuine than toward Azure Vaughn.

"You guys chat, I’m heading ho." I said tiredly, then turned and left.

"Why is your voice so hoarse? Here, I have a throat lozenge for you!" Kitty offered, handing a lozenge, her smile brighter than the sunshine in August.

She seed to have added another lip piercing, looking even more rebellious.

I took the lozenge and put it into my mouth, casually asking, "You carry throat lozenges with you?"

"I don’t usually, but Iceberg often yells at subordinates during etings, I was afraid he’d strain his voice, so I bought so for him." Kitty said, handing a box to Henry Preston, "Take it, you’re welco, it’s not worth much."

Henry Preston looked at the box coldly, "When did I ever yell at subordinates?"

Kitty waved dismissively, "No need to explain, I overheard it when you didn’t hang up the phone."

The lozenge was orange flavored, sweet and tangy, quite tasty, but I felt a lump in my throat.

Why did I see a glimpse of my past self in Kitty? I once also clung to Henry Preston, but it didn’t earn his response.

Amid their bickering, I opened the gate to the yard, walked inside, and closed the door.

Seeing I was leaving again, Henry Preston took quick strides toward , "You must go to the hospital, or do you want to be sick at ho again?"

"No need, I’ll handle my own body, don’t interfere." My temper flared unreasonably, perhaps due to sleep deprivation, causing hormonal imbalance and mood swings.

Kitty laughed behind , "Haha, Iceberg, shunned by your ex-wife again!"
