I took Ivan Underwood’s hand, leaning affectionately on his arm, and then walked out of the restaurant.
As for the intense gaze from behind, I didn’t care.
Just as I was about to get into Ivan’s car, he received a call from the hospital about an ergency he needed to handle.
"Go quickly, work is important!" I urged imdiately, "I’ll have Lane co pick up."
Ivan glanced back at the restaurant’s entrance uneasily, and I reassured him, "Don’t worry, I won’t say a word to him."
"Yeah, don’t talk, because I’ll get jealous." Ivan was quite straightforward about it, never beating around the bush.
I found this way of interacting very easygoing.
"Alright, I won’t. Go to the hospital now." I replied.
But Ivan suddenly leaned down and gave a light kiss on the cheek, I was a bit startled and didn’t react.
"I’ve got to get to work first, text when you’re ho." Seeing that I neither rejected him nor showed any displeasure, Ivan had a big happy smile.
I touched my cheek, feeling a bit shy, nodded without saying anything.
Watching Ivan drive off to the hospital, I finally took out my phone to call Lane to co pick up.
Lane had just dropped my dad off for a eting, so it would take him over half an hour to get here.
"It’s alright, I’ll just take a taxi back."
After hanging up, I hailed a taxi on the roadside alone.
Once in the car, I sent Ivan a ssage, then closed my eyes to rest.
After a while, the driver suddenly asked, "Miss, do you know that car behind us? Are they following you?"
I opened my eyes and looked at the car behind us through the rearview mirror. Henry Preston’s Maybach was quite noticeable, especially the license plate, which clearly wasn’t ordinary.
"Just a friend, it’s fine." I reassured the driver.
It wasn’t until the ride-sharing car stopped at my doorstep that Henry’s car also parked not far away.
"Henry, what are you doing following here?" I asked unhappily as soon as the ride-share driver left, walking over to him.
My ho is in a villa area, with individual parking spaces in front of each villa, plus an underground garage. At this ti, Henry’s car was parked in the neighbor’s spot.
Henry got out of the car; he’s tall, and when talking to , he slightly lowers his head, making him naturally more imposing.
"What’s the matter, do I need your permission to co ho?" he asked coldly.
"Co ho?" I was a bit surprised.
Henry didn’t answer ; he just walked to the front door of the neighboring villa, and a servant imdiately ca forward to open the door for him. He didn’t go in right away but asked instead, "Care to co in for a drink to celebrate us becoming neighbors?"
