Fern Tate’s disdain for runs deep. Azure Vaughn had already fainted, and the priority was to get her to the hospital, yet she was still fixated on having Brother Henry teach a lesson.
Seeing Henry Preston drive off without waiting for her, Fern’s face was both foul and grim, and she gritted her teeth, "Zoe Hathaway, you’ve already killed my sister once. Are you trying to kill her a second ti?"
"I’m really curious, how did you know that Azure has your sister’s heart?" I ignored her question and asked instead.
"It’s none of your business!" Fern cursed.
"Oh, so you think Azure didn’t recognize you?" I found it amusing, "How did you all decide she’s so naive that she wouldn’t know anything?"
Fern angrily interrupted my words, "Not everyone is as malicious as you!"
With that, she hurried away.
Afterwards, Crystal Dawson and Silas Lockwood’s group ca out of the restaurant and saw standing alone at the door, unable to help but ask, "Where’s Henry Preston?"
Eloise Lawson said angrily, "He invited for dinner, then just ran off after a phone call! Who does that?"
I comforted her, "There’s a reason. Azure suddenly fainted. Please understand."
It must have been Fern who called Henry, telling him Azure was with , which is why he ca down.
Eloise’s eyes widened, "What?!"
Jason Forrest, upon hearing this, seed a bit worried. Holding his car keys, he was ready to find Henry and asked Silas, "Want to co check out what’s going on?"
Silas, hugging Crystal tightly, seed indifferent, "No, I need to stay with my wife and kids. Azure’s affairs are none of my business."
Jason had a peculiar look, likely realizing his close buddy’s changed attitude toward Azure.
Crystal pinched Silas’s cheek with satisfaction.
"Sigh, this is frustrating." Eloise muttered confusedly, then said to us, "Let’s go back up to eat. My friends are still upstairs."
"I’m not going back. I’m going ho to sleep." I replied.
"Eloise, you go eat. I’m heading back too. I’ll treat you to dinner next ti." Crystal obviously had a good impression of Eloise.
Eloise made an "ok" gesture and then returned to the private room.
Jason had already driven off to find Henry, leaving only Silas, Crystal, and .
After I explained everything, Crystal praised my actions.
Then Silas noticed a blind spot, "Heart? What’s that got to do with Winter Tate?"
"Yeah, isn’t it just that Azure looks like Winter?" Crystal was also baffled.
Next, it’s certain that Azure would use this incident as leverage to question Henry about Winter, pretending to realize she’s a substitute.
So I can tell others first.
I told them that back then, Winter hadn’t died imdiately but was resuscitated for a few days before donating her heart. The recipient was Azure.
Crystal was stunned, "What the hell..."
"So Brother Henry and Fern Tate care about Azure because of this?" Silas was shocked, "Damn, as his good buddy, I didn’t know there was such a story!"
"But how did Henry know Azure received Winter’s heart?" Crystal responded and asked again, "Did Azure tell him?"
I shook my head, "No, I don’t know either. Azure has always pretended not to know about Winter, and probably wouldn’t tell Henry on her own. I think it might have sothing to do with Fern."
I’m curious how back then, at fifteen or sixteen years old, Azure ca into contact with the Tate Family. Generally, hospitals wouldn’t disclose donor information or arrange for them to et.
And how did Henry know about Azure’s heart? Did Fern really tell him?
Then how did Fern recognize Azure? When did she tell Henry?
These questions are intricately connected, and I find myself endlessly puzzled.
After parting ways with Crystal and the others, I drove back ho.
Just as I got ho, I received a voice ssage from Crystal, "Zoe, I still got Silas to go to the hospital, to at least act as an informant and gather so news!"
"Have you made him a spy?" I replied with a voice ssage, laughing.
Seeing Azure faint was quite satisfying, and I felt in a great mood.
Crystal replied: Hehe, I just love gossip.
Don’t ntion it, Silas Lockwood is quite suited to being an informant. By the next day, he had already relayed so information he heard at the hospital through Crystal Dawson.
After Azure Vaughn woke up, she started crying, demanding Henry Preston to explain the matter with Winter Tate. After Henry finished talking, she fainted again.
Additionally, Laura Lawson and Walter Vaughn went to the hospital, asking Henry Preston to let Azure go, completely oblivious that their daughter was scheming to get Henry’s attention.
"Zoe, a couple of the questions from last night, Silas Lockwood found out the answers from Henry Preston!"
"Didn’t you encounter Henry Preston when you and Fern Tate returned to the country for business? Later, Fern found out about Henry and Azure, recognized Azure as the recipient of her sister’s heart, and then inford Henry. Before that, Henry only knew Azure had heart disease."
It seems I guessed right.
As for how Fern recognized Azure, and how Azure learned about Winter Tate, those two questions remain unclear.
I’m planning to investigate, not for Henry Preston, but to see Azure’s true colors a bit more clearly.
While Crystal Dawson and I were chatting, Leah Lane sent a ssage: Zoe, has Azure been hospitalized again? The news from University A is that her return date is postponed, specifics unknown.
I replied: Yes, that’s correct.
Joel Sutton also sent a ssage about this, saying he would help and has been keeping an eye on the situation.
I replied to each one.
Suddenly, a call ca in from an unfamiliar number, and when I answered, it turned out to be Jason Forrest, "Zoe, could we et up?"
"et up?" I was a bit puzzled.
"Yes, there’s sothing important." Jason sounded a bit awkward, "Could you do a favor?"
I originally didn’t want to help, but then I heard sounds of a struggle over the phone, followed by Laura Lawson’s anxious voice, "Miss Hathaway, you blocked my number, I can’t reach you. Can we et up to talk? Please, help save our Azure!"
I paused, speaking softly, "Auntie Lawson, regarding Azure, you don’t need to contact anymore, I can’t help her and won’t be able to either."
"Miss Hathaway, I beg you, my husband just had surgery not long ago, and this ti he fell ill because of Azure. I’m taking care of two patients by myself, can you just show so sympathy?" Laura said, her voice choking up.
She really was quite innocent; the one to bla was her daughter, not her.
I said flatly, "Auntie Lawson, there’s no need to et, just say it over the phone."
Laura used Jason Forrest’s phone to tell a lot, essentially hoping I could persuade Henry Preston to let Azure go, saying Azure couldn’t handle the emotional turmoil because of her heart condition.
After listening, my voice was slightly probing, "Auntie Lawson, do you know who donated the heart to Azure?"
"I don’t know, but it seems soone ca looking for her; I don’t know if that person is related to the donor’s family..." Laura stifled her sobbing, "Azure was young then, that person said they wanted to take her out to play, I refused, then they gave Azure a gift, took a picture with her, and left."
"What age? Male or female?" I asked.
"In their forties, female." Laura asked, "Miss Hathaway, why are you asking this? Will it help Azure?"
Hearing Laura’s words, I had a rough idea in mind.
The middle-aged woman should be Mrs. Tate, the mother of Fern and Winter Tate. Unable to bear the longing for her daughter, she had found Azure, and Fern likely recognized Azure through that photo.
The only thing I couldn’t figure out was how Azure recognized Fern. She should have only t Mrs. Tate.
"Auntie Lawson, I can’t help Azure," I replied, "Have you ever considered that your daughter willingly stayed by Henry Preston’s side? Maybe she doesn’t need your well-intentioned help."
"What?" Laura was stunned.
I hung up the phone; there was no need to say more.
Since Azure isn’t returning to University A for the ti being, I might as well relax for a few days and enjoy life.
The weight gain plan can’t be abandoned; the doctor said it’s hard for to get pregnant in the future, but not impossible. If I take care of my health, maybe a miracle will happen.
If I have a child, I plan to be a single mom for life. But if I don’t, I don’t plan to give up marriage and having children because of Henry Preston; without him, I still have my parents.
For the sake of my parents, I should pull myself together and face the future positively.
If it weren’t for the phone call from Fern Tate, my good mood could have lasted a while.
"Let ask you, what will it take for you to stop hurting Azure?" Fern’s question almost made laugh.
"Why don’t you just make her disappear from my sight forever?" I was sunbathing in the yard, lying on a rocking chair, eating dried fruit, feeling quite at ease.
Fern gave a cold laugh, "But isn’t the one who should disappear you?"
