After setting a ti and place to et, Crystal Dawson and I left the hospital.

"Take ho," I said to Crystal Dawson after getting in the car.

"Ho? Which ho?" Crystal Dawson asked in surprise, "Aren’t you coming to my house?"

I had sothing to discuss with Ivan Underwood this evening, and being at The Dawson Family’s house was a bit inconvenient.

I replied, "Take back to Nantelle Apartnts; you know the way."

Nantelle Apartnts is where I live alone now; during college, Crystal Dawson and her friends would occasionally visit there.

Although Crystal Dawson was puzzled, she didn’t ask more questions, just stepped on the gas and headed straight for Nantelle Apartnts.

After arriving at the apartnt, with Crystal Dawson’s help, I sat down. She asked worriedly, "Zoe, are you sure you can do this alone? You can barely walk a few steps..."

"Don’t worry, my foot is in such a state that I don’t want to go anywhere. I just want to lie down alone. Don’t worry about , you should head back. Drive safely." I smiled at Crystal Dawson.

"...Alright, call if you need anything, I’ll co right away!" Crystal Dawson nodded helplessly.

Once she left, I sat on the sofa alone and spaced out for a while.

I didn’t know how I fell asleep; I just felt a bit cold when I woke up.

I had a nightmare just now. I dreamt of Winter Tate’s corpse laid before , and as I leaned in closer, she suddenly opened her eyes and grabbed my neck, her voice full of resentnt, "You took Henry Preston from !"

I was terrified, and to dispel this fear brought on by the nightmare, I quickly turned on the TV, found a noisy drama, and the chatter made feel a little more at ease.

But as I was watching, my thoughts drifted further.

On the night of the wedding, Henry Preston said many hurtful things to . We shared a bed, but didn’t even touch hands. Around one in the morning, he got up and drove away.

At that ti, I thought he was disgusted by sleeping with , deliberately trying to embarrass .

Thinking about it now, perhaps he couldn’t resist wanting to see Winter Tate one last ti, even though she was no longer breathing.

"Ding dong!" My phone rang, startling .

I picked it up and saw it was a ssage from Ivan Underwood: Your foot isn’t doing well, let’s talk at your place tonight.

As expected from a doctor, he’s very considerate.

Now that I’m living alone, it’s convenient for him to co over, so I agreed: Okay, Nantelle Apartnts, Building 8, Room 609.

I replied with the detailed address.

Ivan Underwood: Uh, living alone now?

I sent a triumphant emoji: Yeah, didn’t expect to be so aweso, huh?

Ivan Underwood: Pretty impressive, can Henry Preston handle you?

: He doesn’t like , why should he care about ? Should I worry about him if we divorce and I remarry? Just like my dad.

Ivan Underwood: Really considering a second marriage?

: Of course, I haven’t even experienced a normal marriage yet. I’m not satisfied; I want to find a normal guy!

Then he didn’t reply, probably thinking I was being unfaithful, planning who to choose for a second marriage even before I’m divorced.

Since Ivan Underwood was coming, I needed to dress a bit nicer, couldn’t look like a pitiful abandoned woman. I limped to the bathroom to take a shower and wash my hair.

Apparently, I overestimated my ability to stand on one leg. After finishing my shower and preparing to limp out of the bathroom, my right foot finally protested, making faceplant.

My scream was as loud as surround sound, echoing through the bathroom.

Just then, the phone on the vanity rang. I couldn’t stand, so I crawled over to grab the phone.

Why was it Henry Preston calling?

I frowned but answered, "Do you need sothing?"

If not, hang up quickly, don’t delay calling 911.

"What are you screaming for?" Henry Preston surprisingly asked.

"Screaming for what?" I’m sitting on the floor in my bathrobe, feeling irritated, "You’re the one screaming, just say what you need, I’m busy."

Henry Preston paused, "I’m at your apartnt door, open up."

Oh, so he really heard screaming.

I refused without thinking, "I’m not in a position to see you, you should leave."

"If you don’t open the door, I’ll have soone unlock it directly." Henry Preston is such a jerk.

"Are you crazy, can’t even leave alone during the holidays!" I really didn’t want to see Henry Preston right now. Thinking of Winter Tate and Azure Vaughn, it’s like needles in my heart.

I’m starting to understand why, in the past, my in-laws accepted Azure Vaughn so quickly, maybe feeling they already destroyed their son’s first relationship and didn’t want to be so harsh on the second.

From start to finish, I’ve been a fool, knowing nothing, persistently clinging to Henry Preston.

"Your foot is sprained, it’s inconvenient for you to live alone; why not stay at The Dawson Family’s place?" Henry Preston asked again.

This seems like concern; I replied lightly, "I wanted to co back, so I did."

"Did you fall? What’s the password? I’ll co in." Henry Preston added a threat, "Or I can have soone unlock it quickly, but you’ll have to change locks."

I knew Henry Preston wasn’t bluffing, and I really needed soone to help up now. Compared to 911, Henry was more suitable.

But the password is Henry’s birthday, I haven’t changed it yet, it’s embarrassing to say.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of the password being input, followed by Henry Preston’s faint chuckle.

I took a deep breath and hung up the phone.

Soon, Henry Preston’s voice ca from the bathroom door, "Are you inside? I’m coming in."

The door was pushed open, and when he looked down, he saw sitting on the floor.

After a few seconds of staring, he squatted down, "Already limping, why take a shower?"

"Is it illegal for a cripple to shower?" I asked coldly.

"Not really, here, get up." Henry Preston extended a hand, gesturing for to grab it.

Without hesitation, I put my hand in his. His grip was tight, nearly engulfing my entire hand.

As I struggled to get up, I explained to him, "That password was set during my college days; I recently moved back and haven’t changed it yet."

"Hmm." Henry Preston had no reaction.

"Ah!" Just after standing up, my right foot hurt so much I reconsidered my life, and instantly fell down again.

Henry Preston quickly pulled into his arms, using his body as support, but he ended up hitting his back against the doorfra hard enough for to hear the thud.

It was mostly my fault.

He didn’t say anything, just carried to the bed so I could sit.

After checking my right foot, he told , "Symtrical now."

"Hmm?" I was still embarrassed from the previous incident and hadn’t processed his words.

"Sprained symtrically, your right foot is swelling." Henry Preston got up to tell .

This is so black humor...

I felt no gratitude toward Henry, but instead asked, annoyed, "Why did you co looking for here?"
