At that mont, Yun Shifei stood at the doorway. When she saw the person standing outside, she furrowed her brows slightly.

It really seed to be soone sent by Cheng Lie.

A short while ago, Mu Chengzhu had ssaged her, telling her there was a drama worth watching. If she didn’t want Cheng Lie to get into trouble, she’d better go find him imdiately.

Yun Shifei had always been skeptical of Mu Chengzhu’s words, but Cheng Lie’s abnormal behavior during this period and the fact that this address didn’t seem particularly dangerous made her decide to co. If nothing happened, then all the better. But if Cheng Lie truly was in trouble...

Yet upon arriving at the doorway, Yun Shifei found herself puzzled.

If there were guards outside this building sent by Cheng Lie, why would Cheng Lie be in danger?

The bodyguards at the door recognized Yun Shifei right away.

They greeted her respectfully, "Miss Yun."

Inside, they were sowhat stunned—why would Yun Shifei appear here?

"Is Cheng Lie inside?"

The two bodyguards nodded.

"Can I go in to see him?"

The bodyguards glanced at each other hesitatingly.

This hesitation did not escape Yun Shifei’s notice: "Did sothing happen to Cheng Lie?"

Her heart raced with anxiety, and she bypassed the guards and walked directly inside.

The bodyguards: "..."

They wanted to reach out to stop her, but... how could they stop Miss Yun?

They had no choice but to follow Yun Shifei inside.

Yun Shifei pushed open the door and was instantly shocked by the scene before her.

She had initially assud sothing had gone wrong with Cheng Lie, but she hadn’t expected... Cheng Lie was fine. Yet on the ground lay a man who was almost unrecognizable.

The man was tied up, and Cheng Lie was kicking him rcilessly, each blow filled with a ferocity that seed intent on killing him.

The ground was already marked with blood and an unidentified yellow liquid, emanating a strong, sickening stench.

The man being beaten by Cheng Lie was barely breathing, as though he might die at any mont.

Yun Shifei stared blankly at the horrifying scene in front of her. Truth be told, back when Cheng Lie had beaten Zhao Haishuang, she hadn’t witnessed it firsthand and hadn’t understood the incident.

But now, seeing this man lying on the ground, the overwhelming visual impact churned her stomach.

She couldn’t help but look at Cheng Lie, as though seeing him for the first ti.

The boy who had always been docile and pliable in front of her, now revealed a side so dark and chilling.

Cheng Lie heard the noise behind him and turned around, imdiately seeing Yun Shifei standing there.

The girl’s figure was backlit, her light-colored short dress fluttering in the breeze like a butterfly. Yet her expression was unclear to him.

The darkness, the bloodstained rage in his gaze, all retreated in an instant, replaced by a creeping fear.

He could guess that seeing this side of him must have frightened her. She’d surely want to distance herself from him now.

She was so timid; seeing such a scene, would she cry?

The thought of scaring Yun Shifei to tears—that was sothing Cheng Lie had never contemplated before.

Cheng Lie felt a bit lost. He didn’t even understand why Yun Shifei had appeared here.

He glanced at the two bodyguards behind Yun Shifei.

The bodyguards dropped their heads, already resigned to their fates.

Yun Shifei wanted to say sothing, but the scene in front of her was so jarring that, although she opened her mouth, she found herself unable to utter a single word.

After a while, Cheng Lie took her hand and led her outside.

He couldn’t let her continue to witness such a nauseating and violent spectacle.

Yun Shifei didn’t resist as Cheng Lie held her hand.

Outside, the sky was gradually darkening, but the air was fresh, sweeping away the suffocating tension from inside the house.

Cheng Lie looked at Yun Shifei. "Are you afraid of ?"

He saw the pallor of her face. That scene earlier must have scared her terribly, didn’t it?

It was this shadowed side of himself that he never wanted to reveal before her.

She was certainly afraid, instinctively distancing herself from him.

But he... he couldn’t allow her to leave.

Yun Shifei heard Cheng Lie’s voice. She looked at his flawless face and, after a long mont, shook her head. "I’m not afraid."

Cheng Lie froze, as though he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

"I almost killed soone just now, and you’re not afraid?"

"I understand. Xiao Lie must have had his reasons. That man... he must be a bad person, right?" Yun Shifei knew Cheng Lie wouldn’t act out for no reason. It had to be because of how Zhao Haishuang had provoked him last ti.

Even though she had felt Cheng Lie relax while spending ti with her recently, he still hadn’t been the sa as before.

Having known Cheng Lie for so long, Yun Shifei understood what kind of person he truly was.

He wasn’t the sort of person who would casually harm soone just for the sake of it.

If he was lashing out at soone, there had to be a reason.

Looking into the girl’s clear, glass-like eyes, Cheng Lie’s eyelashes trembled, and sothing seed to stir deep within him.

She wasn’t afraid of him...

Soone this timid, seeing a scene like that, wasn’t scared of him—instead, she was thinking about him, understanding him.

Suddenly, Cheng Lie felt a lump rise in his throat, choking him slightly.

He had grown used to people being cold toward him, despising him, bullying him. None of that mattered to him—he had told himself he would exact revenge one day.

But warmth from others? He detested that.

And yet, how much warmth had Yun Shifei already given him on this journey?

He couldn’t even count.

Even if he dedicated his entire life to her, Cheng Lie still felt it would never be enough.

After Yun Shifei finished speaking, she noticed Cheng Lie staring at her blankly, as though he didn’t believe her words.

That child...

Yun Shifei felt a pang of pain in her heart.

Yet her resolve didn’t waver.

There was no way Cheng Lie would harm soone without cause. It had to be soone who had tornted him in the past.

With these thoughts in mind, Yun Shifei couldn’t help but wrap her arms around Cheng Lie’s waist, burying her head against his chest.

Through the fabric of his clothing, she could hear his heart beating strongly.

A reassuring sound.

"Xiao Lie, it’s okay. Let it out, but don’t do sothing so reckless again. Taking revenge on him—you’re only tornting yourself at the sa ti. So things don’t need your direct involvent. Leave it to your subordinates. Out of sight, out of mind."

She knew that as Cheng Lie beat that man, he was also being tornted by revenge and mories.

It would be better to leave such matters to his n, receive a result, and never face the sight himself.

Cheng Lie felt that Yun Shifei’s words made sense.

The suffocating emotions that had weighed heavily during this period suddenly eased, and his heart felt lighter.

He extended his hand to embrace Yun Shifei in return.

To his surprise, he realized his own hands were trembling slightly.

All this ti, he had thought Yun Shifei would be terrified when she saw this side of him.

Yet now, he found that she wasn’t just unafraid—she stood firmly by his side, trusting him.

The feeling overwheld him, to the point that he couldn’t control his trembling.

This was the first ti in so long that he had lost control like this.

After calming himself down a bit, Cheng Lie said, "That man—years ago, he was the one who hit my mother with his car and killed her."
