Cheng Lie heard Yun Shifei agree without hesitation and couldn’t help but glance at her.
The girl had crescent-shaped eyes and a cheerful smile as she warmly and kindly approached the elderly woman to chat.
As Cheng Lie watched her, a sense of warmth filled his heart.
In the end, this al was prepared by Cheng Lie and Yun Shifei together.
They went to the market to buy a lot of groceries, with Yun Shifei in charge of washing the vegetables and Cheng Lie taking over the cooking.
The elderly woman’s house was slightly bigger than Cheng Lie’s, though similarly aged and worn down.
The al was full of joy and laughter. The elderly lady talked endlessly, probably because she hadn’t had anyone to talk to for so many years. It seed like she wanted to express everything she hadn’t said in ages all at once.
The elderly lady also told Yun Shifei stories about Cheng Lie when he was very young. She said, "Xiao Lie was such a crybaby when he was a child. On his first day of kindergarten, he cried the whole day."
"But he was so smart! Even when he was very little, he could already do arithtic. Remarkable!"
The elderly woman also brought up Cheng Lie’s mother.
"She was a beautiful and kind-hearted woman. What a pity..."
Through the elderly woman’s stories, Yun Shifei gained more insight into Cheng Lie.
Thinking about how this man, who now wore such a cold expression, had once been a little crybaby, she couldn’t help but want to laugh.
She simply couldn’t imagine what that would look like.
As they walked out of the alley, Yun Shifei hugged Cheng Lie’s arm. "Xiao Lie, you were so adorable when you were a kid."
Wait, had she just called him Xiao Lie too?
This nickna, when used by elders, didn’t bother Cheng Lie. But hearing Yun Shifei say it made him feel strange.
It felt utterly lacking in masculinity.
Cheng Lie couldn’t help but say, "Don’t call that."
"I’m going to! Xiao Lie, Xiao Lie, Xiao Lie!" Yun Shifei deliberately called him that a few more tis.
She wasn’t afraid of Cheng Lie at all.
Seeing Cheng Lie look both annoyed and helpless, Yun Shifei grew bolder. "Xiao Lie, why haven’t I ever seen you cry?"
She really wanted to know what Little Crybaby Cheng Lie looked like back then.
Cheng Lie raised an eyebrow and looked at Yun Shifei. "You want to see cry?"
Yun Shifei had a mischievous smile. She was genuinely curious. Would soone as icy as Cheng Lie actually cry?
Seeing her eager expression, Cheng Lie pressed his lips together, feeling that it was high ti to teach Yun Shifei a lesson.
Dreaming of seeing him cry, was she?
He said, "Then let make you cry first."
Before Yun Shifei could understand what Cheng Lie ant, he suddenly pushed her against the wall and leaned down to kiss her lips.
His kiss was searing, filled with a domineering intensity that overwheld her, leaving Yun Shifei’s mind blank, as though she were floating on clouds.
A dimly lit street corner. An ambiguous, lingering kiss.
At this mont, Yun Shifei could sense nothing but his presence.
Though they had experienced similar monts many tis before, Yun Shifei’s heart still raced uncontrollably, surrendering herself entirely to Cheng Lie’s control.
Half of her felt she was too weak, while the other half couldn’t resist sinking into the mont.
The kiss lasted for who knows how long. When Cheng Lie finally let her go, Yun Shifei slumped weakly into his arms.
Then, she heard Cheng Lie’s soft chuckle. The man leaned close and gently bit her ear. "If this is how you are now, I’d really like to see you cry."
The nibble sent a shiver through Yun Shifei, her body turning weak with the tingling sensation.
She suddenly understood the true aning behind Cheng Lie’s earlier words about crying.
Her face turned bright red as she forcefully pushed Cheng Lie away.
"You shaless pervert!" she scolded, spitting out the words.
Cheng Lie’s eyes sparkled with laughter. It was probably the first ti in days that he had smiled so freely.
"Feifei, I’m starting to grow impatient," he teased.
Faced with his playful gaze, Yun Shifei’s face only flushed deeper.
Cheng Lie escorted Yun Shifei back ho but stopped at the entrance to the complex.
Yun Shifei glanced at him. "Aren’t you coming in?"
They had already t her family, and Yun Tiancheng had approved of their relationship. There shouldn’t be anything left to worry about.
But Cheng Lie shook his head. "I’m not in the best state right now."
His pale complexion and frail appearance reminded Yun Shifei of Yun Tiancheng’s earlier concerns. She agreed that Cheng Lie probably wasn’t entirely comfortable yet.
So, she said nothing further, simply instructed Cheng Lie to take care of his health, and got out of the car.
Cheng Lie watched Yun Shifei as she got out, and suddenly called out to her, "Feifei."
Yun Shifei turned to look at him.
"No matter what becos of , you won’t hate , will you?" he asked.
"As long as it’s you, I won’t hate you," she imdiately replied without hesitation.
To her, Cheng Lie was Cheng Lie. No matter what he beca, she thought she’d still love him.
Looking at the girl’s beautiful face, glowing under the light and as radiant as a blooming red rose, Cheng Lie felt a compulsion to reach out and claim her.
They had walked out of the darkness together, her world growing ever brighter. But what about him?
Cheng Lie finally smiled.
She was so wonderful, so perfect, that he knew he could never let her go in this lifeti.
Yet he feared deeply—if Yun Shifei ever discovered everything he had done, would she still feel the sa?
She was so pure and kind. He couldn’t let her uncover the darker parts of him.
But there were so things he simply had to do.
Today, Mu Chengzhu would be hosting a dinner with several highly respected elders, and Cheng Lie had to act now.
anwhile, Yun Shifei returned ho. After resting for a while, and seeing that Xu Ya and Yun Tiancheng were still at work, she got up and started preparing dinner herself.
The sumr break was unbearably dull for her.
All she did was eat, drink, and play. She thought she needed to start focusing on her own career. She had already shared her ideas and basic plan with Cheng Lie, who was probably making so preparations.
Thinking about how Mu Chengzhu had set up a company similar to Cheng Lie’s, Yun Shifei decided she couldn’t let him succeed.
That cunning scoundrel!
She prepared an exquisite spread of dishes so that when Yun Tiancheng and Xu Ya returned ho, they could dive straight into dinner.
Xu Ya arrived ho slightly earlier than Yun Tiancheng. Seeing the dishes on the table, she couldn’t help but praise Yun Shifei, "Shi Fei, your cooking is amazing!"
Yun Shifei gave Xu Ya a slight smile but didn’t say anything.
The atmosphere between mother and daughter wasn’t as strained as it had been initially, but it hadn’t beco particularly close either.
Yun Shifei had no intention of becoming closer to Xu Ya. To her, making it to this point was enough effort.
After all, she figured she’d eventually move out on her own anyway.
Yun Tiancheng also returned. Seeing the table full of dishes Yun Shifei had prepared, he said nothing, though he didn’t seem to be in a good mood.
Yun Shifei assud he was simply exhausted from work.
Yun Tiancheng ate in silence. Once he finished, he finally asked Yun Shifei, "Shi Fei, did you hear about Uncle Cheng’s wife, your Aunt Zhao, passing away?"
