Sean Hughes frowned. "How can you say that? Eliza, I just want to treat you well."
’Treat well?’
Eliza Sutton couldn’t believe Sean Hughes had the audacity to say sothing like that.
She laughed, but her eyes were devoid of humor. "Sorry, but I couldn’t care less."
Sean Hughes said, "Eliza, I know you’re still angry that I chose Alia five years ago. But I had no choice. You went to prison; choosing Alia was the only thing I could do. I’m sure you can understand my predicant, can’t you?"
"Oh, yes. I understand your predicant perfectly. You’re quite the psychic, aren’t you? You foresaw I’d go to prison long before Cedric Sutton even had the nerve to pull off that financing sche, and you tead up with Alia Sutton in advance."
Eliza Sutton gave him a thumbs-up, her praise dripping with sarcasm. "Master Hughes, you’re truly sothing else."
Sean Hughes flushed red at Eliza’s mockery. He sighed and said apologetically, "So you knew all along, Eliza. In that case, you should understand my predicant even better. As the eldest young master of the Hughes Family, with an illegitimate younger brother vying for my spot, I have to pay a much higher price than others to secure my position."
’Once my stepmother entered the picture, my father had a new son and daughter. I lost my right to inheritance, so I was no longer an option for him. It wouldn’t have mattered if I was frad and beca pregnant, or if I was forced to take the fall for Cedric Sutton. He would never have married .’
"Eliza, I know I failed you, but please believe , I will definitely treat you well."
"Ha!" Eliza Sutton sneered. Even though she’d known the truth for ages, hearing Sean Hughes’s words was still absurd. "Well then, I wish you a swift climb to the top. As for your ’kindness,’ save it for Alia Sutton! And I’m sure you didn’t co here today just to catch up!"
Sean Hughes sighed. "Eliza, you..."
Seeing Eliza turn to leave, he blurted out his reason for being there. "I ca because of Alia. She had a run-in with you at Si, and the general manager, Saul Reynolds, blacklisted her and revoked her mbership card. This all happened because of you, after all. I want you to go to Saul Reynolds and convince him to reinstate Alia’s mbership."
"How about you have Saul Reynolds bring her a gift, apologize in person, and then return the card? What do you think of that?"
"If General Manager Reynolds is that sincere, that would be ideal."
"Sean Hughes, are you feeling tired? Ready for a nap? If so, you should hurry ho and get to dreaming!"
Without another glance at Sean Hughes, Eliza Sutton turned and walked away.
Sean Hughes’s expression turned ugly as he was left standing there. He’d never imagined that Eliza Sutton, who had always been so deeply devoted to him, would actually refuse him.
When Eliza Sutton walked out of the Lockwood Group building, Sid Lane was already waiting by the curb with the car.
Sid Lane was dressed in ripped jeans and a skull T-shirt. A chaotic jumble of silver chains hung around his neck, and his hair was dyed a gaudy gold. The whole look scread punk.
The mont Eliza sat down in the car, he grew ecstatic. He sidled up to her like an oversized puppy, nuzzling against her. "Boss, I finally get to see you! You have no idea how much I missed you."
"Are you looking for a beating?"
Rembering how terrifying Eliza could be, Woody shot upright in his seat. He said in a business-like tone, "Boss, the leading lady and leading man are in position. The main event is about to begin. We should hurry."
"There’s no rush."
The words had barely left Eliza’s mouth when her phone buzzed with a text ssage.
It was from Harrison Sutton.
"Eliza, I’m arriving at The Crestwood Grand Hotel shortly. Tonight, you and I need to strategize. If this Azure Dragon Bay deal goes through, the Sutton Family will be completely transford. We’ll join the ranks of Seabourne’s elite. When that happens, you won’t just be the family’s greatest hero, you’ll be our most prized and respected daughter."
Eliza looked up from her phone. "The other leading man is in position. Let’s go."
「The Crestwood Grand Hotel.」
A woman in oversized sunglasses and a wide-brimd hat swiped a keycard and opened the door to a hotel room.
The room was pitch-black. She murmured in confusion, "He’s not here yet?"
The words had barely left her lips when soone swept her into an embrace.
"Sweetheart, were you looking for ?" he asked, leaning in for a kiss.
Mrs. Sutton jumped. Hearing the familiar voice, she chided playfully, "Why are the lights off?"
"I wanted to give you a surprise." In light of Mrs. Sutton’s promise to buy him an apartnt, the man was laying on the charm, calling her "sweetheart" at every turn.
He hugged Mrs. Sutton, whining playfully and nuzzling against her like a golden retriever. "Sweetheart, I missed you so much. Did you miss ?"
Mrs. Sutton was a complete sucker for this act; she would have given him the world. "I did. Of course I missed you."
"Sweetheart, you feel thinner. Has that old man not been treating you right?" A true professional at being a kept man, he imdiately noticed Mrs. Sutton had lost weight and put on a show of indignation for her.
"He’s been treating fine. I’ve just been in a foul mood lately, and I got sick. That’s why I’ve lost a little weight."
"Is that right? Well then, I’ll have to make it up to you. I’ll give you all my best assets."
With that, the man grabbed Mrs. Sutton by the waist, pressed her against the wall, and began kissing her deeply.
Mrs. Sutton wrapped her arms around the young man, eagerly returning his kiss.
’She was a woman in her fifties. No matter how well she took care of herself, she could never compare to girls in their twenties, fresh as spring daisies. The passion between her and her husband had died out long ago.’
’But she had needs of her own, and by a stroke of luck, she had found this boy toy to satisfy them.’
Mrs. Sutton caressed her boy toy’s firm body, reveling in his strength and power. ’How could Harrison Sutton possibly compare to a body this young?’ Lost in a haze of ecstasy, she surrendered to her passion.
「Outside The Crestwood Hotel.」
Erik Irvine had just pulled the car to a stop when he spotted Eliza Sutton through the window. "President Lockwood, what is the Mistress doing here today? It looks like she’s with soone."
’A young man, at that. And he’s acting awfully familiar with the Mistress.’
’Could it be? Because President Lockwood is... incapable... is the Mistress so lonely she’s decided to cheat?’
Erik Irvine glanced back instinctively and saw the thunderous expression on Shane Lockwood’s face. The temperature in the car seed to plumt, and even the air felt sharp and cold with a terrifying chill.
"Go. Find out what Eliza Sutton is doing here."
Erik Irvine’s back went rigid, and he imdiately agreed.
「In a private room on the top floor.」
Eliza Sutton stood demurely beside Harrison Sutton as the other executives at the table raised their glasses, showering him with flattery.
"Mr. Sutton, you’ve done a wonderful job raising your daughter! She really made you proud, marrying into the Lockwood Family." Even though Shane Lockwood was a cripple, no one in Seabourne dared to underestimate him.
Now that the Sutton Family was tied to that powerful clan, their ascent was only a matter of ti.
"Exactly! Mr. Sutton, you have to teach us your secrets so we can go ho and do sothing about our own useless daughters."
"Mr. Sutton, when you hit the big ti, don’t you forget about us!"
Harrison Sutton’s face flushed red. The flattery made him feel like he was floating on cloud nine, as if he’d already beco one of Seabourne’s most influential figures.
’A flicker of scorn crossed Eliza’s eyes. ’He gets this carried away after a few complints? If not for Mother’s arrangents back in the day, the Sutton Group would have gone bankrupt long ago. He wouldn’t be enjoying this mont of glory at all!’
’Too bad for him. It’s all about to co to an end.’
