There was a different kind of joy in heading to the Liu Corporation.
Even though Guiying was under a disguise and couldn’t be his free self, the car ride felt lighter.
He wasn’t popular enough for his illegitimacy to be overshadowed, and that was why Tang XiaoYu existed.
No one looked twice at Tang XiaoYu.
No one cared to dig.
Still, he didn’t mind being delusional a little bit.
For now, he could pretend he was just a husband stopping by.
"Hello. Can you please contact Zhang Wei and let him know Tang XiaoYu is here to see the CEO?"
The receptionist smiled and nodded, pointing toward the elevators.
Zhang Wei had already inford them. If soone nad Tang XiaoYu ca by, they were to let him through. She wasn’t about to risk her job when there was already a clear go-ahead.
"Mr. Zhang has already confird your arrival, sir. If you head to the top floor, you’ll find the CEO’s office."
Guiying nodded and turned toward the elevator.
---
anwhile, Liuxian had been in a eting with the CEO of an electronics company and had been ready to leave from the start.
Zhang Wei had flagged the company as important. That was the only reason Liuxian was tolerating this eyesore.
Mu Hanwei’s pheromones had made themselves at ho.
The room was filled with so many pheromones it felt like the oxygen was thinning out.
Liuxian set his pen down. "Mu Hanwei. Keep your pheromones in check. I don’t tolerate this kind of behavior in my office, especially when it’s deliberate."
Mu Hanwei smiled like Liuxian had said sothing charming.
"Co on, lighten up. There’s nothing wrong with getting comfortable with a potential partner."
"Business partner," Liuxian said.
"Of course," Mu Hanwei replied, sa smile. "That’s what I said."
Liuxian stood, picked up the remote, and opened the windows.
The office reeked of pheromones and sex appeal. It would be a misunderstanding if anyone walked in on them.
And worst of all, he now slled strongly of pheromones that weren’t Guiying’s.
The last ti that happened, it hadn’t been pretty. If Guiying saw this, hell would rise.
Mu Hanwei stood too, moving around the desk easy and unhurried. "I heard you got yourself a partner recently. A young Oga." He tilted his head. "Must be nice having soone warm at ho. But even the most devoted person appreciates variety, don’t you think?"
"No," Liuxian said flatly. "I’m a man of principles. I don’t need variety when it cos to my partners. They’re not objects."
Mu Hanwei laughed softly and reached for his arm. "You say that now..."
A knock interrupted him. Before Liuxian could say anything, the door opened.
Guiying, who had been smiling the entire elevator ride, imdiately frowned.
His eyes landed on Mu Hanwei, then took in the pheromones thick in the room.
He scoffed. Then he looked at Liuxian with both anger and irritation before closing the door.
Mu Hanwei pulled his hand back and laughed. "Oh, was that him? My bad..."
Liuxian’s expression darkened.
"You think this is so joke?" His voice was low, dangerous. "Because of this stunt you pulled, I’ll make sure you and your company are blacklisted everywhere."
"CEO Liu, you don’t have to go that far... I’m sure he’ll get over—"
Mu Hanwei didn’t dare finish. Liuxian had let out his own pheromones now.
He could tell the man was enraged.
---
By the ti Liuxian reached the lobby, Guiying was gone.
He didn’t know where to start. So he called Haiyan first.
"Where is Guiying?"
"He didn’t take the car, sir."
Liuxian pinched the bridge of his nose.
He was so fucked.
It took an hour to find him.
Luckily for him, Guiying had forgotten to turn off his location, or maybe he just didn’t want to hide.
Liuxian tracked him to a small park three streets over.
He found him on a park bench, knees drawn to his chest, head buried in his arms.
Guiying was enraged, sad, and jealous.
He’d been happily skipping to Liuxian’s office, only to walk into that scene.
He didn’t like it one bit.
"Guiying..." Liuxian kept his distance, voice careful.
"Don’t you dare co close to him," Guiying said without looking up. "I can sll him all over you and I’m getting even more enraged."
"I promise you, it isn’t what it looks like. I would never cheat on you."
"I don’t want to hear it," Guiying said. He lifted his head, eyes red-rimd. "You’re pissing off just by being here. This morning you were getting pissed off just because I was having lunch with an alpha. But look at you. You reek of oga pheromones. Pheromones that aren’t mine. How hypocritical."
He drew in a shaky breath.
"I’m angry, Liuxian. I don’t want to see you. I especially don’t want those pheromones around ."
Liuxian stayed where he was as Guiying turned his face back to his knees, shutting him out.
"This is why there are no Ogas on the top floor," Liuxian said quietly. "This is why I avoid them. Because things like this happen. I only accepted this eting because Zhang Wei said the company was important. If you found out I rejected an Oga and it caused problems, you’d be angry. You don’t want to discriminate, but you can’t handle what happens when I let Ogas around ."
"So now I’m overreacting?" Guiying asked.
"Guiying, I’m a grown man in my thirties. I’m also married to you. Do you really believe I’d cheat on you? I told you I liked you. I only accepted the eting strictly for work. From now on, Zhang Wei will handle the etings with Ogas on my behalf."
Guiying sighed. He knew he was overreacting, but that didn’t change the fact that he was jealous and sad.
Liuxian hadn’t done anything wrong. He was the one who needed to cool off.
"I want to be left alone," Guiying muttered. "I know it’s not a big deal, but I can’t help myself."
Liuxian sighed. There was no use trying to force it.
"I’ll leave once Haiyan cos to take you ho."
