"Changhai, don’t be so polite with . It’s because of what you said that this good thing fell on my shoulders. If you don’t accept this, it would an you look down on as your elder brother," Director Chu insisted.
Jiang Changhai saw how earnest he was, so he didn’t refuse any further, "Alright then, Big Brother Chu, I’ll accept it."
"Yes, that’s the way it should be, Changhai. Great kindness needs no thanks. In the future, if there’s anything you need, just give your elder brother a call, and I won’t refuse," Director Chu said excitedly, holding Jiang Changhai’s hand.
"Alright, Big Brother Chu, don’t worry. You know my temper by now. I won’t be shy with you," Jiang Changhai replied with a smile.
"This is how it should be, given our relationship, there’s no need for pretenses. Changhai, tonight my wife and I are inviting you and your wife out for dinner. We won’t leave until we’re drunk," Director Chu said happily.
Even though Jiang Changhai no longer worked at the transport factory, as long as he maintained a good relationship with him, there would be no fear of losing a big connection in the future.
"Big Brother Chu, let’s skip the dinner. My wife hasn’t returned from work yet. It would be impolite to keep you waiting," Jiang Changhai said politely.
"There’s nothing to feel bad about. I’m on leave today, and my wife has nothing going on. We’ll wait at your place until your wife gets off work, and then we’ll all go out together," Director Chu said directly.
"Alright, Big Brother Chu, since you insist, then let’s do it," Jiang Changhai agreed.
"That’s more like it, Changhai, why haven’t I seen Mianmian today? Is she out playing?" Director Chu asked out of curiosity.
"Ah, my daughter went to the Capital City for sumr vacation. Elder Yu and Buddy Yu missed her, so they invited her over to play for a few days," Jiang Changhai explained.
As soon as Director Chu heard that even Old Master Yu was fond of Jiang Mianmian, his attitude towards Jiang Changhai beca even more enthusiastic, tinged with a bit of respect.
"Mianmian is such a loveable child. The last ti I saw her, I really liked her. It’s been so long now; I truly miss her," Director Chu said genuinely.
"Big Brother Chu, don’t just say you miss her. Even I, as her father, miss her terribly. These past few days without my daughter have felt like years. I’ve been counting down the days, eagerly waiting for her return," Jiang Changhai said, full of words when talking about Jiang Mianmian.
Director Chu’s wife chid in knowingly, "Changhai, I heard Mianmian ca first in the city on her middle school entrance exam?"
"Yes, Sister-in-law, my daughter got a perfect score on the exam, beating the second place by over ten points," Jiang Changhai said proudly.
Director Chu’s wife imdiately gave a thumbs up and praised, "This child is truly outstanding, so gifted in her studies! You and your wife have done an amazing job raising such a good kid!"
Although she had intentions of flattering them, her words were sincere.
Their own child was excellent, but compared to Jiang Mianmian, there was no comparison.
Jiang Changhai, upon hearing this, didn’t boast too much and instead complinted Director Chu’s child a couple of tis to keep the conversation going.
Chatting and laughing, ti flew by quickly.
By the ti it was past five, Su Wanyu ca back pushing her bicycle.
As soon as she entered the room and saw Director Chu and his wife, she was montarily stunned, then greeted them with a smile, "Big Brother Chu, Sister-in-law, you’re here."
"Ah, Wanyu, we’ve been waiting for you to co back. Co on, let’s go out for dinner today; Big Brother Chu is treating," Brother Chu’s wife said warmly, taking Su Wanyu’s hand.
